I always watch the subs of any anime first, and if I'm really into it I might then go and check out the English dub if there is one...and I could NOT watch the dubs for Gankutsuou. Ew. I have no problem with the message of "everyone's a little racist sometimes": It's true, but the OP and many of the people agreeing here seem to ignore the other lyrics of the song.

Of course, sometimes it's really tacky and obvious, like when (usually in high school AUs) the author makes a character like all of the same bands he/she does or travel in the same social circle he/she does...

1: I've read the book. It's not canon. Glinda/Elphie shippers saying it's canon over and over again will not make it suddenly true.

2: Even if it was canon, there's no reason I or anyone else should be required to ship it. The fact that so many Glinda/Elphie shippers hate Elphaba/Fiyero, which is absolutely and unequivocally canon, is a great illustration of this fact.
