I do the same thing. I think it's pretty common, really. Every character has "gaps" to fill (motivations, past events, whatever), so you might as well write what you know as long as it's not out of character.

I love Danny SO MUCH. Especially at the end, when he's trying to help CJ deal with the transition from White House life to something else.

I was excessively heartbroken when I found out he was gay.

Which is really strange because... I don't normally have a strong reaction when I find out people are gay.

IDK I love him still, I loved him in NO on Prop 8 the musical, but for some reason it just bothers me D:

102. Every writer does that. It's more a matter of doing it skillfully and subtley rather than being heavy-handed. Even when you write fic, you write what you know and incorporate experiences and views.

Write the characters as you would write them then look for an editor or a beta. They can help you make sure you're on the right track.

132. OMG! I'm with you! I Hate it when they do that! And if they move to a different fandom, they erase all traces from their previous fandom. I know you were in this other fandom, I have the fricking doujinshi with your web address in it! It's so damn annoying! I know the web is not very permanent, but that's just ridiculous. Hear, hear. I don't want every woman on TV to look like Camryn Manheim; I just want more women who look like Camryn Manheim and Queen Latifa and (I can't even come up with a heavier Latina actress that anyone would recognize) to have real shots at solid, non-stereotypical roles. As opposed to, say, "fat friend #2" for the lead actress.
