I haven't seen this show (though I've certainly heard about it), so I can't speak to the particulars of this ship specifically. But I get the appeal you mention on a general level. Sometimes there are ships we like that we know wouldn't lead to a happy ever after, but there's a "what could've been" element to them that is very poignant and can be quite interesting to play around with and explore.

I was hoping that someone who watched the show would join in on this and respond. I only watched the first episode of this show, and was hoping for the same sort of interactions you were though, OP.

Of course it's your business to do so, but it seems pretty damn stupid to me.

(At least, insofar as it's motivated by thinking the fic isn't good (if the story is insensitive, then it's a slightly different conversation))

I've long since come to the bitter realization that there's a significant percentage of fandom who either:

1) doesn't understand what characterization is, how to recognize good characterization from poor, how to write it, etc.
2) doesn't care so long as they get their shippy fics and/or porn.
