167. THIS THIS THIS. seriously I don't see the point of putting ones energy into hating a characters. (somethimes i think its mostly an injoke mentality when it comes to bashed characters)

163. I kinda know how you feel! Everyone I meet seems to have such centric interests and it's like.. where the variety? For once I'd like to have someone to talk to about yugioh/pokemon AND moemoe crap AND games..and whatever else it is I like.

151

First off: HELLZ YEAH JAMIE FANS.

Second off: Dude... as strange as it seems.... Jamie and Donna fic might... might be worth reading............ best companions evar.

Third off: I blame you for this. Dunno who you are. But I blame you.

Re: 151

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
OP: I take the blame. Willingly. And yes, see, this is what I'm saying! The best two companions.... maybe they would have a little connection? Maybe just friendship who knows?! Great icon BTW

Don't worry, as long as you speak well enough to be understood (and by the look of this secret you do ;)), no one is going to jump at you if you make a mistake. A lot of the people I know in fandoms aren't native English speakers (neither am I) and I've never seen anyone being yelled at for their mistakes, or anything. And I've seen native speakers make mistakes that make my head hurt.

(Also, I've met/seen around quite a few Finns in one of my fandoms, and I have yet to see one who doesn't speak great English ;D.)

106) Please, please send your email. She will appreciate it more than you can imagine! (And trust me, if you're worried about sounding like a weirdo ... you won't. Anyone who has ever run a popular webcomic has gotten bizzare emails that will make them grateful for a sane, touching story like yours.)

142) Man, this makes me feel so sad for Christy. :/ She's ridiculously talented, and deserves so much better than shitty TP and its shitty, elitist weaboo fans.

[identity profile] ocelotspots.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
131 I AGREE SO HARD.

154. OR BRADLEY JAMES LOL.

175. Wow. I love this secret.

Me too, but I could NEVER admit that to my flist. (And I can't believe someone else out there has doubts!)

I grew up on the first two films, they were my favorite movies as a kid.. and the third one marked a turning point in my adult life. I'll be crushed of the Dark Knight fucks this up.
He's playing John Conner not Bruce Wayne 8( Plzzzzz do a good job. I've been looking forward to this movie since 2005.

[identity profile] mcwicca.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
175: You know what? I completely agree.

(Anonymous) 2009-01-08 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG DO YOU SEE IT TOO (i'm not totally crazy? right?) i think i'm gonna write the damn story out and post it on a fake ff.net account. MY FRIENDS CAN NEVER KNOW!

123

168. AUGH,I DON'T KNOW EITHER. ADULTFICTION.NET SUCKS.

114. Oh please.

You probably just haven't found a long fic that you really, really liked.Or you're not like me XD
There are so many where I'd absolutely love to learn more about the authour's writing process and any back story and details.

I'd sooner read a 300 000 word fic with a summary/pairing/whatever that really interested me than a random 300 000 word book.

Writing original stuff is a lot of work and has little payback.Stuff RARELY gets published. There are THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of these fantastic manuscripts that are ignored in favor of books like Twilight just because they won't sell.Good stuff isn't ever going to get the attention it deserves.

I haven't even written anything multi chaptered, but at least with a fic, authours know they have an audience. They know they're going to [hopefully :3 ] get instant feedback and people who can't wait to see more.

[identity profile] ilye-aru.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand how you feel. English is my second language and when talking to a native speaker I feel really embarrassed, because I'm never sure if I'm committing mistakes or not and that can be distracting/confusing at times. I'm not very good at it, but I try. And you surely are trying too, aren't you? That's why I'd be friends with you!

Speaking from the [admittedly rather limited] basis of what you just wrote, you seem more proficient in English than some of my friends, who are not only native speakers but also 'honors' students.

163

[identity profile] reaperfox.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I find it very hard to find people who are both huge fans of TV shows like Doctor Who, Life on Mars or Torchwood, who are ALSO fans of anime and video games.

I really walk the balance between pretty much everything - I adore American and British TV shows, I adore cartoons of all sorts, I adore video games, I'm a goon and quite like some elements of 4chan. I'm into slash AND het (...within reason ;))

125) Glad to see another Sokka/Zuko shipper out their but I feel insulted for the Sozu (or Zukka whatever the hell you want to call it) fandom when you call them talentless hacks. I've seen EXTREMELY good fanartists out there that draw this pairing. And the fanfics I've read for them? Pretty hot. I'm also friends with someone who cosplays and RPs the pairing with her roommate and I am DEFINITELY insulted if you call her a talentless hack. Me myself? I've made a few AMVs and drawn one picture (which I admit isn't that great, but I know that my artistic ability isn't the greatest). I am not a talentless hack either, thank you.

163) I feel so bad for you! I can't say I'm familiar with all the fandoms you showed (but I am interested into getting into a few of them :D), but I would never put a friend down for liking a certain fandom! D:

123. Yeah, sure I would. I mean, I can understand you.

136. GOOBLE GOBBLE GOOBLE GOBBLE ONE OF US. ONE OF US.
god I want to see that movie one of these days.

Amen to that! ♥ The FE fandom doesn't bite!

[identity profile] melengro.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
123. I would. Hell, I'd help you with your English if you asked. Not liking people because they don't speak your language as well as they could is just...GAH.

And, based upon the text of your secret, your English actually seems pretty good, especially for someone whose first language isn't even Indo-European.

135. Is it bad that I'm holding out for a Vermont?

[identity profile] magicalmophead.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
114. Um. Just because you don't like to read something other than romance, porn and crack doesn't mean that's the only thing everyone else cares about.

115. ...Aren't they...brothers, or something?

124. O-O

131. ...Whoaaa wait wut? XD Is that...like...stuff that actually happens???

158. LOL. That picture was probably made for divorce seminars or something, but seeing it as two fans wanking at each other with the kid in the middle being like "Oh god, GROW UP" is really hilarious.

163. Okay, dude, are you...kidding? Seriously? Pokemon and Digimon got me into video games and anime fandom respectively, Ouran is awesome, Tales of Symphonia is what got me into American voice actors and I still adore that game, Fruits Basket was one of the first manga I started buying and I still love it, I just started reading Negima! And I'm really enjoying it, and my favorite anime is as bizarre and random as Princess Tutu, Fullmetal Alchemist, Cromartie High School, Evangelion and Paranoia Agent. (PARTICULARLY Princess Tutu.) How is it odd to like different genres within the same medium?? A lot of those aren't even THAT weird to like at once. I don't judge friends for liking things I don't like, even ifit'ssomething I really dislike like Naruto. You really need to find some friends that can enjoy variety, locking yourself into only one genre is crazy. Part of the reason I love anime is BECAUSE there's so many different genres.

I have one, very important question to ask.

Was he cosplaying Neil or Lyle?

Re: 113

(Anonymous) 2009-01-08 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
For the character I was dressed as, I would have felt a bit odd if it hadn't been Lyle. Also, I think my sig other and I both feel Lyle is a bit more fun to work with in bed. (Not that I wouldn't bang Neil in a heart beat, but sex with him probably wouldn't be very different from what's normal for us.)

103 - Shut the fuck up. Seriously. There are many ways to fight racism, and not just those mentioned way. Besides, there are plenty of Avatar fans who are minorities -- and we fight racism every goddamn day by simply fucking existing. And I sincerely doubt that those people lodging legitimate complaints about that bullshit casting only gave a fuck after this casting whitewash.

109 - I think it's a stupid hairstyle as well, but some of my favorites have it too.

114 - I love how you seem to think that writers give a fuck about you not giving a fuck about their writing. *stage whisper* They don't.

123 - I would.

144 - I'm going to cry with you (though I didn't see the show). Man, James Brown was the man. How many times has he been sampled, or you have heard his influence in music, etc.? Just going back and listening to some of his socially-influenced songs made me upset all over again over it.

155 - I disagree. I went through some horrible shit (beatings, molestation, and starvation among other abuse) at home, and I acted out at school. In retrospect, it was the wrong way to go about things but you never know what horrors people go through at home -- and how they respond to them. My response was fight anyone who looked at me wrong -- mainly because I was too small to fight the people who did the same to me.

163 - I like a small genre of things and I feel left out when my FList talk about other shows I'm not interested in -- so I don't comment on those entries. I doubt they're judging you though -- they simply don't say anything because they're not into what you're into.

165 - But Hani is... a teenager.

155: Yes, but not all bullies are like you. Some of them are very well treated by their parents, who in some cases even encourage their behavior.

163: Hell, Hani's practically an adult, actually.
