hetalia secrets

I still have no idea what Hetalia is but the fandom sounds batshit crazy.

Don't worry, we aren't. Heck, most of the secrets so far as been submitted by people who didn't like the series and its fans.

107: While I'm a country-music listener and usually enjoy country music, I can't say I was or have ever been a Taylor Swift fan. I originally saw the video on CMT or GAC and fell in love with the 18th century French clothing. Yes, and all because my favorite anime/manga takes place in 18th century France. But the more I hear the song, the more I like it. I listened to it 3 times today. Once on the way to work and twice on the way home. It makes me cry, sometimes. It's a beautiful song.

114: I don't know what I think about this. I'm always rambling on about 'fics in the works, and my own 'fic inspirations. But I would never write a long 'fic that didn't have romance in it, because 90% of the people in fandom are there for a ship, and wouldn't want to read a long story without epic character interaction. Of course, I cranked out 88k for NaNoWriMo for a fanfiction, so...

123; I cannot stress this enough: YES! My primary fandom hardly even has an English base. The biggest base for my fandom would be Japanese, Italian, French, and Spanish. I have made friends- who are also the most faithful reviewers I've ever had- who speak English very poorly. Do I care? Nope, not at all! They're amazing people, and I respect anybody who knows more than one language. Even making an attempt to be social in a fandom where English is not your primary language must be hard. But 99.9% of the people out there will understand and help you if you want it and not ever judge you for it. ♥

128: She's probably like me, and doesn't do well around strangers. I've gotten a lot better since entering the work force, but I'm always afraid someone will stop me to talk, and I have a tendency to stumble over my own words. I prefer to pick up what I want and leave to get out of everyone else's way. Maybe that is what she did?

129: Hahaha, I tend to only read stories about my favorite characters/ships.

155: Thank you, thank you, thank you. Sometimes bullies are misunderstood people, or misguided children. But generally speaking, they're not. There is no excuse for intentionally hurting someone else.

157: Jump into the fandom! I'm friends with several-- and I do mean several-- people who adore FE8: Sacred Stones, and I'm sure they'd be happy to see yet another person in the fandom. While I beat FE7-- the best of the Fire Emblem games, in my not-so humble opinion-- I got stuck on FE8. But seriously, we can be a totally awesome fandom most of the time! Especially away from Fanfiction.net. =]

103: asdf why are you judging them so much? if avatar is something they really like, how can you blame them for getting worked up about it, and wanting the ... movie, or whatever, to be true to the cartoon? Maybe they've never had the chance to do something irl, or maybe they've never really been in a position to notice racism and stuff?

123: I WOULD BE FRIENDS WITH YOU! what fandoms and stuff are you in?

154: um...why does that make you a bad fan?

163: D: YOU'RE NOT A FREAK! I'm a girl too (lmao aren't most of us chicks), and I'm in a bunch of those fandoms! variety is fun times. :)

Such a typical Finnish attitude. "Hey, I speak perfectly good English! But I think, that if someone sees me writing ´on´ in stead of ´onto´ they'll hate me forever!!" LOL.

Just go for it. No one's going to eat you. No wait, if your fandom is TH, I'd reconsider, those guys are CRAZY! *nauraa*

And yes, I have the right to bitch about this, as I am Finnish and speak English as my third language. *nod*

[identity profile] chocotime.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
170. Agreed. I wish Madam Red was still alive, she and Grell made a fabulous duo.
(Also, Undertaker. But I doubt he'll ever be more than a sidekick or comic relief)

110

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Not in this fandom, but can relate SO DAMN MUCH. I always want my favorites on the bottom, and I don't know why. And they're never the most fitting to the "uke-stereotype" character around.

163

[identity profile] lovestyle.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Funny, I'm on the other side of the spectrum. I only like one or two animes, and because of that I often feel out of place with the rest of the anime fans because they all seem to know TONS of anime and I'm like "... yayyyy Ouran and Death Note! XD;;;"

LOL I mean, I wouldn't trade it, because it makes me happy to know that I can enjoy things so much without having to reach out to other shows or manga, but still... I feel like I can't converse with people much because I don't know many animes. :x

Re: 163

[identity profile] hooves.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I'm the same way. I'm comfortable in my two fandoms. My two rather small fandoms. But I do oftentimes feel out of place because I'm not always interested in watching new anime, reading new manga, seeking out new fandom. I love my fandom, and I can't tell you the last time I loved a fandom as much as I do now. I think I was 16 and new to anime, though. So that, to me, says a lot. =]

[identity profile] 3goodtimes.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I freakin love your icon. <3

123

[identity profile] justspaz.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'd definitely be your friend. One of my favorite things about fandom is meeting people from all different cultures and areas. But, I'm warning you: I'd totally annoy you to teach me Finnish or Swedish or both. I'm obsessed with languages :D.

[identity profile] gethenian.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
103. To be fair, there are so many issues with the world, I think it's safe to assume that the majority of people who work towards fixing them probably didn't give them a lot of specific focus until said issues affected something they cared about.

Frankly, I think it's just a wee bit completely moronic of you to judge how people become motivated to take notice of Something Wrong and object to it. Who gives a shit why people are inspired to make an effort to try to fix things so long as there is an effort?

118. Agreed. While of course I know art theft is wrong, I can't help but think it's ultimately incredibly stupid to think that anything you put on the internet isn't going to be stolen and used without your knowledge or permission.

123. Of course! :D I love talking to people from places and cultures different than mine. Even if there is a slight language barrier. Man, that's what God created Babelfish for, ;)

128. I've noticed that there seems to be a certain type of people who often hang around the manga section at bookstores. They irritate the piss out of me. Their most common form is the Immobile Parentless Preteen -- these creatures park themselves in the middle of the manga aisle and just sit there and read. For fucking EVER. They will not acknowledge other people. They will not move. They might as well be chained to the goddamn shelves. The second most common form I've noticed is the one you mention -- the slightly-older-than-preteens who have a Mulder-like paranoia of sharing the aisle with another human. These ones often determinedly keep their distance from anyone who comes to browse nearby in a way that is amusingly reminiscent of that sheep herding game my sister used to play. They also tend to shoot filthy looks at people and occasionally I've encountered ones that got increasingly impatient with anyone else being in THEIR aisle, and would shuffle and fidget and take out books just to bang them back against the back of the shelf and sigh and cast continually desperate furtive glances at whoever is close by as if they thought they were about to get caught doing something criminal.

It's actually really entertaining. These are the same people I suspect of being the ones who take the plastic wrap off the 16+ rated manga and stuff it behind other books. They probably take it to the Yu-Gi-Oh section and stand pressed against the shelf trying to make it look like they're reading about cardgames and not unhealthily codependent sexual relationships between men with anatomically unlikely-sized reproductive organs.

131. Webber is not a talentless hack. If you think he is, you've clearly never seen Miss Saigon. That said... neither he nor Sondheim have produced anything of quality since almost before I was born.

Anyway, nothing -- absolutely nothing -- will ever be as epic a failure as Sondheim's attempt at pretending he isn't going senile. Bounce may easily be the worst musical ever made.

106. I remember finding that comic a while back and thinking it was cheesy and then I found it again later on and saw the twist and was like WHAT because it was really pretty well-thought out, so I can forgive the early corniness.

123. I would be :) In fact, I have a foreign fandom friend that I email from time to time and our friendship began because I was willing to explain some American phrases to her.

149. I did that too. I can't stand Tori Spelling, but ZQ is great in that.

I'm sorry. I bring shame upon such a wonderful series with my emo hair faggotry sekrit. ;^;

If I could get my hands on more of the series (I've ony ever seen some episodes of GeGeGe no Kitaro and most of Hakaba Kitaro), I would be flooding this place with Kitaro secrets. tru fax.

Well, Andrew Lloyd Webber since 1995 (Sunset Boulevard) has BECOME talent-less hack.

I want to see it flop, and I want to see the god-awful teenager fanfiction that sprawls from this musical. I think the fandom has turned into something totally unorganized and silly. And this musical will serve them all right.

I've been a closet fan since 2004. But I've been a fan since 2000.

Don't give up! Sacred Stones was the first Fire Emblem game I finished... But I had the other games and I've only just finished three of them. Guess how long I've been a part of the fandom? Four years! Please don't be afraid of the fandom, go for it!
