154!

He's not my ideal Steve by any means (not built enough, for one, and possibly a little too young to play opposite RDJ, though it's hard to tell from a pic that's not a close-up), but God, it would almost be worth it just to watch some of the fanboys on the IMBD message boards react to the fact that Cap was being played by a gay guy who once starred in a movie where he rode a unicorn.

Watching half of them throw fits would be the best free entertainment ever.

Also, 114? You and the people you regularly talk to may only be in fandom for the porn, but 300,000-word epic drama fics are one of the things I love best in the world, especially if there's h/c involved. Seriously, when I search for fic on ff.net, I often set the wordcount meter to filter out all results under 20,000 words. I've even been known to set it so that it will only show me fics over 100,000 words. And then I'll often read them even if they suck, because I'm so eager for something nice and long.

Oh, and 127 = <3. I want to be Granny Weatherwax when I grow up, too. She reminds me of my grandmother.

121. I think it has less to do with patriotism and more to do with personality - I can't see America bottoming, but I'm not patriotic by any means. On the other hand, all I want in Hetalia fandom is detailed, smutty fic or art where my country of birth (who already acts pretty uke in Hetalia even though that's DEFINITELY debatable in actual history) takes it from one of my countries of ancestry (lol icon related), and I honestly hope that doesn't say anything about me because it makes me feel kind of bad. XD

125. I ADORE them as a pairing. Too bad most of its fans moved on to Jet/Zuko as soon as it became a possibility. *sigh*

135. Awwww. That's one of the things I love about Hetalia. I mean, Himaruya even put Northern Cyprus in! Didn't actually DO anything with his character as of yet, but he's there!

143. .......I am intrigued by your ideas.

Your English is fine, from the secret you posted.
English is my native language, and I've noticed most people that speak it as a 2nd, 3rd, nth language tend to speak it SO much better than native speakers.

And I'm too shy to make many fandom friends because I have a horrible fear of rejection or people making fun of the way I talk about things and ramble about the stuff I love incessantly.

What are your fandoms?

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
121 - I FUCKING HATE it when people can't get over the "bottom/uke" = "pussy" stereotype. Jesus Christ, people, it's one of the longest standing prejudices! Isn't it fucking time you let it go?!

Argh.

128 - ...it's not BL. Not even vaguely.

148 - Take it from a Hungarian: you're probably better off where you are. Hungary is a pretty sucky place nowadays.

170 - I agree. Grell is just infinitely amusing, and while I didn't care about William until I heard him in the anime (Sugiyama = instant win as far as I'm concerned), I'm more interested in him than in Sebastian and Ciel.

148

Attention: It is no longer a secret to like or dislike Hetalia or Twilight. Maybe if you had something approaching a reason like the Taiwan person. But probably not.

135: BEST HETALIA SECRET, EVAR. I LOVE YOU, OP.

163: Don't worry, the fandoms I'm in are even more bizarre. Variety is always nice.

141. Link please? Sounds kind of hilarious. :)

145. I am so amused that you feel bad about it because "Dickie is an ass." ^_^ I think Tom's problems are a little more severe...not that I don't love him to death and all. I just get so angry with him for the last minute of the movie. He's never going to allow himself to be happy.

158. Thank you.

161. Oh, I know how you feel. But have you ever managed to get her obsessed with one anyway? ^_^ The pride that follows that totally outweighs the hurt.

152. In general, I'm that way with a lot of series. I like the source material. I avoid the following (or at least most of it) because they manage to ruin it.

155. I have friends who are/were bullied (bruises, possessions stolen/vandalized, hair set on fire, being ostracized, horrible self esteem, etc.) and honestly, yes. This is a horrible thing to teach a kid that they just need to "sit there and take it" because the bully can't help it. And the schools don't help, what with their zero tolerance and the fact that even if you're defending yourself, you're going to get into trouble. Excuse me? If my hypothetical kid were getting bullied, you bet I'd be teaching them how to fight back. I can't stand it. Of course, this is another reason I won't be having kids -- this is an "unacceptable" mindset.

157. If you can get your hands on a copy of FE7 (just Fire Emblem, for GBA), you'd probably like it too...? It's pretty easy (: And seriously, as a fandom, we're really nice! FE8 has a pretty big following!

168. Danbooru and 4chan (also Overchan). Danbooru is a little hard to get used to -- some of the tags are awkward -- but it's got quite a lot of stuff.

ext_81845: penelope, my art/character (drunk)

155

[identity profile] childings.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a stupid reason against having children. If anything that should be a reason for having kids. It's precisely because the majority of parents don't teach their children that they have a right to defend themselves that it's considered an "unacceptable" mindset in the first place.

It's just funny to see people complain about society and then decide not to raise children (ie. future members of society).

I love Cracked and they were spot on with calling that "bullies are abused" bullshit. If I (for some reason) ever make a kid's movie the lesson is going to be "Some kids are just dicks. THE END!"

142. How funny, and here I was thinking about making a secret about how much I don't like her work. :) Her style is cool yeah but no matter how much she denies it, her style is influenced by Kubo Tite. You'd srsly have to be blind and kidding yourself not to see it. It just always makes me laugh when an artist tells their audience not to leave a comment saying what other artist their work reminds them of, especially when it's SO OMGOBVIOUS in her case. Gotta stay anon though, don't want any crazy bitch lackies coming after the real me.

Re: 142

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Inspired by? Try like a direct trace of. I replied with the exact same thing but also chose to stay anon for fear of her or her die hard fans castrating me.

Also, she's a stuck up brat that cannot figure out that ears do not go on top of the head or directly beside the ears. But that is okay, folks, SHE WENT TO ART SCHOOL. It is her style.

We also cannot forget the time of her life where she refused to admit that the style she drew in was anime and manga simply because she was an "American artist" and learned sequential art at an "American art school". It was really more that she wished to get her pictures on the DTF on DeviantART during the time that Jark had disallowed all anime and manga submissions to reach the front page. So many hissy fits and admin fights over that. Attention whoring 1, normal attitude 0.

Did I mention cosplay elitist?

There are so many great reasons to dislike her other than just her pasty, white, non asian skin tone.

cleverthylacine: a cute little thylacine (always coming home to you)

[personal profile] cleverthylacine 2009-01-08 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
130. Really? You really think that? Why? I like Castiel, but I don't know that it's gonna go that way.

143. OMG, that is HOT. And Cuddy/13? Yes please.

149. Sasan is so adorable. I want one.

160. Well, that's disrespectful. Why would any fic change your orientation?

167. I think it's unwise to spend too much time wondering about why other people like/dislike/hate the characters they like/dislike/hate, because in order to understand this, you often have to know the person better than you probably want to. What the author intends may be one thing, and every reader sees things in a different way. For instance, it's interesting to me that people hate Dolores Umbridge more than Voldemort; I expect it's because she seems more realistic, more like someone you'd actually have the misfortune of meeting. Anyhow, people hate/love characters for lots of reasons that have nothing to do with morality or politics. Sometimes when I really loathe a character that perhaps the author does not intend readers to hate (or love one that the author did intend readers to hate), it's because my moral views are different from the author's. But sometimes it's not. Sometimes I hate characters because they remind me of people (or types of personalities) that really irritate me in real life. Even though they may be wearing the white hat. And sometimes I love characters because they remind me of people I like in real life, or myself at a certain stage of life/situation. That isn't the same thing as moral approval. I would never make the same moral choices that Sylar makes. But I really relate to his problem he had with his mother even though I'd never solve mine the same way.

Anyhow, everyone's history and outlook is so different, you can't judge people for what characters they like/dislike. Well, of course, you can, actually, and many people do, but I don't think it's a very accurate gauge of someone's worldview.

130

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
they want to make castiel a regular if the show gets picked up for a fifth season, and i'm pretty sure that's how they plan on doing it. they've already established that castiel's having doubts about some of his orders.

You know, I actually stopped reading Death Note after what happens to L, but I can totally see where that would come from. I'm pretty sure I got into the DN fandom after I was already in the House fandom, and I noticed some parallels at the time. Unbelievably fucked-up penetrative detective minds? Hot as all hell.

124 - I love this secret.

126 - I actually don't like slash (unless the characters are actually homosexual), but I loved Orihime and Tatsuki's friendship so much on Bleach. Bleach has gotten so terrible now. I wish it had stayed rooted in it's interesting characterization and complicated relationships. I loved it at the start.

131 - IAWTS. I miss the days of Jesus Christ Superstar where he wrote music with merit and controversial ideas. The Christ story a la Judas? Yes, please. Cats dancing on a stage with no plot and frighteningly repetitive music? No ty. Also, it drives me nuts every time I listen to the score for POTO because he borrowed a theme from his own music. One of the themes in the "notes" songs comes from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - when Joseph sings "Anyone from anywhere can make it if they get a lucky break!" IT DRIVES ME MUSIC NUTS.

142 - uhm, pretty. what is that? (I don't do acronyms, I can't comprehend OEL)

158 - PARADOXXXXXXXXX

167. I don't hate fictional characters. I think the mere fact of someone writing them down in a book or giving them screen time, and giving us some kind of a glimpse of their thoughts, even if it's through someone else's first person perspective, just puts you too close to the character to go as far as hate. (Except Bella Swan.)

171. Actual David Frost or Michael Sheen? ...because actual David Frost is pretty damn smooth.

103. False Dichotomies are awesome. Fuck off.

126. You are not alone. Although actually I can't ship Tatsuki/Orihime. It seems like a ship I should be all over, but I...I guess I just like them better as friends.

127. Assuming that's Granny Weatherwax, you probably don't. She seems like a profoundly unhappy woman much of the time.

158. That's a fun feedback loop.

163. Oh, dear, you're not a freak. I mean, most of my manga tends to come from one genre (albeit a very broad one) but, for example, with Music, my tastes are all over the map. There's nothing weird about it.

163 - I wish I had more fandom friends who watched just about anything and everything (well, anime-related) like I do, so that I can babble on about all variety of things and they'd still get what I was talking about. A lot of people on the flist I can't really talk to anymore, because they're still faithful to their few fandoms all these years, while I pretty much just took a quick dip in it, then became distracted by something shiny and new and no longer cared about what used to be our mutual fandom.

I don't think the flist judges me, but I do admit that I can be fairly shallow with most fandoms I enjoy...which is why I don't even really participate within "fandom" anymore, and just watch and fangirl things alone.
