103. Are you white? Because I'd put money on it, if I had anyone to bet with. If the wording doesn't point that up, the fact that you don't seem to have replied to any of the PoC you pissed off in this thread does. (Unless I missed something.)

But let me know if I'd win!

114. People do it because they find it fun, and because they already love the characters. Sure, if they're looking for tons of thoughtful feedback, it's probably a waste of their energy. But what do you really care what people do with their spare time?

121. Bottom != "pussy." It's just a sexual preference.

(Sidenote: I'm betting Canada is typically written as a bottom. Am I right?)

136. Not sure what movie this is, but that...strikes me as really kind of gross. Circus "freaks" were so horribly mistreated by circuses, like subhumans.

143. That's...interesting. I never know what to say to secrets like this, because lord only knows how realistic your mental authorship is.

160. Tell her you won't read or review anymore of her fic until she's read through the FAQs at asexuality.org?

103 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, not white. But I will admit to being a bitter minority, hence the vindictiveness of the secret.

Are YOU white?

So you gave up on something you liked... because other people told it wasn't any good? And because it wasn't the 'popular' thing to like? thats... kinda sad.

163

[identity profile] tenshihitomi.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Variety is the spice of life, my friend. Who wants to box themselves in and limit what they can like? Eff that!

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
121 - Yeah, it really sucks when your country is represented in a way that makes you feel bad inside, even if you're not especially patriotic. And even worse when other people really enjoy that representation or doing things to your country that you don't like, even though it makes you personally feel like shit. Or tell you you're "too sensitive" for not liking the portrayal, or to stop harshing their squee because everyone's having fun except you.

It must be strange to feel that way, since you're American and the world normally revolves around you. How does it feel?

Could this possibly be why some people don't like Hetalia?!

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow.

1) America never bottomed or topped in the actual canon. Hell, there is no sex in Hetalia.
2) Even the secret person admits that it's stupid that she feels that way.

[identity profile] marisahsaaaa.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
125. I love that pairing. ^.^

I won't read any fics that take themselves too seriously, though.

132. Seriously.

It's really annoying how people act like Hetalia is the only thing to ever make light of wars ever.

I mean, hasn't anyone seen The Producers? :|

168. Oh, it's definitely out there. It's just a bit hard to find sometimes.

178. Wow, um. xD

[identity profile] childings.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The Producers was funny because the entire joke hinged on the fact that it was offensive. I don't think it was trying to make light of wars so much as acknowledge that Hitler and Nazi Germany isn't exactly appropriate material for a musical. That's that joke.

103: Wait, wait, WHAT? I'm not even an Avatar fan, and I consider it, at worst, yellowface, which I've been strongly against (along with stupid fucking Hollywood casting). And you know what? Anything that gets people to notice things like that is a good thing, to me.

123: I would. ♥

141: I find her to be both insane and disgusting, mostly for her condescending beration of people who don't see Twilight as the be-all, end-all.

153: :|b

160: Wow. That's disgusting. But on the other hand, does this person hold a gun to your head and force you to read it? You deserve better.

Oh for fuck's sake.

I mean, I feel kinda bad because if you didn't feel strongly about this you would never have made a secret, anon, but... "It makes me feel like such a freak because I like such a variety and most people stick to a genre"?

are you fucking serious

131

[identity profile] negiramenofdoom.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
LOL YES. I'm excited because I'll get to laugh at it. But I'm still afraid that the music is going to be ridiculously pretty that it'll make me ignore Erik fucking a robot. :|

Negima FTW.

SHUT THE FUCK UP, NO ONE FUCKING CARES ABOUT IT ANYMORE. WE KNOW YOU FUCKING HATE TWILIGHT. GET OFF THE INTERNET, YOU STUPID CUNT, BECAUSE I /KNOW/ THAT ISNT A FUCKING SECRET.

isn't this the community with the fans that followed jared to the airport and tried to find out what his hotel room was? and posted videos of their encounters in the community?

yeah, i'm proud that i've never been a member there, too.

110. Xanxus as uke is an interesting idea. He sure doesn't seem like the type, but I have seen it pulled off pretty well before. Still don't think it'll get too popular, though. Xanxus oozes seme.

114. I'm sorry, I think I missed the news flash where you were declared center of the known universe and everything you say is fact. People who can write genfic as opposed to the stale, dime-a-dozen PWP we get every day earn my respect as fanfic authors much, much faster. It takes a hell of a lot more creativity to write gen than romance, and if you can carry it for 300,000 words, then more power to you. Maybe I'm the only one. But as long as there's one person, you can't make generalizations like that. I understand that you can post whatever self-righteous shit you want here on f!s, but seriously. Not cool.

162. Alpha Centauri secret?! Do my eyes deceive me? One of my favorite games ever. Haven't played it in several years, but that doesn't make it any less outstanding in my memory. oh god that would be so hot a;sldfjasd

114. And are you a 'ficcer yourself, Anon?

119. Never be ashamed of the things you enjoy ... unless they are flagrantly illegal, of course. :-)

124. Because Scully / Skull would be a little too far out there, perhaps? ;-) Points for originality, poster.

136. Awesome! I'm glad to see there's at least one other person out there who remembers (and enjoys) that movie.

137. Considering he's a floating head inside a monitor, it'd be neat to see how the hitting in question would occur. A challenge 'fic, perhaps? ;-)

149. (I wonder what show that is?)

157. Hey, don't be ashamed of which Fire Emblem you like best, poster. Sacred Stones really isn't that bad, though it's certainly got its faults. Personally, I'd rather have that than either Path Of Radiance or Radiant Dawn.

163. No harm in enjoying many fandoms, either. I do. Anime / manga, comic books, video games, TV shows, you name it. If you ask me, it's enriching to have more than one fandom.

Seconded, man -- especially the latter... :\ At least PoR had decent support conversations.

(Oops, missed one.)

I can shed a little light here: AFF, at least, doesn't update because the database has gotten so complete fuxx0r3d that none of the users can make sense of where to put anything any more.

Re: 168: very fuxx0r3d

[identity profile] elmathelas.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I posted there years ago, then lost the fic I posted, and went back to c+p it because I wanted to keep it (which seems silly to admit, almost...) and it was full of bizarre typos, of the sort you get when you scan a document. Any html was wacky, and it was in general still readable but barely. and I know it didn't look like that when I left it there.

149

[identity profile] arcadiaego.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 02:13 am (UTC)(link)

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I didn't know you knew what Avatars fans do in real life that you can generalize like that.

Avatar fandom is a fandom for the show, not political views or activism, it's mainly for people to get together and talk about Avatar with some leeway for other non-Avatar related things. I didn't realize we all had to be talking about racism and other causes in the Avatar fandom months or years before we're allowed to be upset about the casting or anything else.

Not to mention some people are young, and may not realize there are still problems in this country. If this or whatever else lets them realize that and perhaps start them on acting upon it in real life, what's the problem, not everyone is born enlightened in racism and politics and how subtle it can be in real life.

[identity profile] christ-chexx-4u.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
111 & 177 - dude. i SO ship it. BOTH of these!! disney really needs to teach their young actors the difference between flirty, romantic chemistry and brother/sister chemistry, because it makes it WAY too easy to ship sibling pairs, and then i just end up feeling like a creep.

131 - WTF?? someone tell me this is a troll, that this isn't actually something that's being written.

150 - since when is robin conservative?

166 - with you 100%.

177.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/chikoli_/ 2009-01-09 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
To be fair, Life With Derek isn't made by Disney. And I personally don't think Derek and Casey are supposed to act like siblings, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

But I have to agree. I don't watch Wizards but, I ship Ryan and Sharpay from High School Musical. And I saw a Hannah Montana episode where she was pretending to date her brother. I hate that show but I watched the whole epsiode because...WOW.
