167. Not at all! I'm the same way. I usually fast forward through sex scenes, whether it's het or slash because ~~I'm a prude~~ I like to read about the characters talking or simply spending time together.

I'm not saying sex isn't an emotional experience for a lot of couples, but that's jsut not what interests me.

121 - I'm no anime connoisseur, but I've watched my fair share of shows. Everyone and their mother recommended Evangelion to me as one of the best anime shows ever. My boyfriend and I watched it over the course of a month. I'm sure we would have finished it sooner had it not been so horrible. I thought the plot was scattered and weak, at best. The characters were flat and even unlikeable. The writing was not hot. It was just a mess of a show, and I felt like it had been done in a half-assed sort of way. So, don't fret too much over not liking it or being able to watch it. I think it stinks, and I'd probably pay good money *not* to have to watch it again.

My problem with it was that I had been given the impression by the fandom that there were genuinely interesting elements of philosophy and mysticism in the show. So I went through it watching for that. While there was some, it was SO FRIKKIN' BAD - and what wasn't just awfully done was simply wrong. I ended up having to pause the DVD at one point and yell at the screen for five minutes because it was so obvious that neither Seele nor NERV had a single clue what they were doing from a mythic perspective.

130. Journey's End felt exactly like bad fanfic. 'Oh noes, my self-insert Mary Sue can't actually get with the main character because he's an alien that lives forever! How do I fix this? I know, a human twin!' Srsly, I felt dirty afterwards. And I still haven't even WATCHED that beach scene.

162 It 2x20 maybe they could have been happy, would have been happy, but she didn't even know him. He told her nothing about his life before Stanford. If Sam ends up with anyone long-term its probably going to have to be another hunter, a survivor he saves or a supernatural creature. And, even then, I don't envy the woman because she's always going to have to share him with Dean because the Winchesters are about a 20 0n Bowen's scale of differentiation. Emotional-cut off, enmeshed... yeah, I don't envy any of their canon love interests.

N!6. You’re right. I don’t think anyone could be nearly as emotionless and as bad of an actress as Cortese. In that case, she so beats me.

Yeah, there's a lot of hate on internet towards religion in general. Apparently all Christians are vocal gay haters who want to convert everyone.

Word. I don't consider myself Christian anymore (I grew up in a Catholic family) but the prejudice against the religion in online communities really bothers me. What happened to live and let live?

A while ago, I finally let my online friends know about my religious beliefs, and I was overwhelmed with support and love. It was one of the scariest things I've ever done, but their reactions were so awesome I have no regrets.

Like, I just do not get how people can so poisonously hate a fictional character sometimes--if you can't sit back and be objective about someone who isn't real and who you'll never have to meet or even deal with indirectly in real life, when can you turn off the hate?

But at the same time, I understand feeling that a particular character has screwed up the plot/theme/whatever of his source canon, or that he's being presented as a model of values I can't stand, or that we're supposed to read him as the hero but actually he's being a complete asshole (see: every rapist boyfriend in shoujo manga, ever). That's when I can best understand character hate, even if a lot of the time (okay, most of the time) I still disagree with the reasons presented for it.

132. As far as fanworks go, as I understand, Gurren Lagann fandom has always been fairly quiet. The activity mostly centers around memes and general squee.

143. I have a friend who loves Adric! (I've never watched his episodes, so I don't know if I'd like him.) I hope as more and more now-grown-up fangirls admit that they were smitten with Wesley Crusher when they were younger, it will become acceptable to admit affection for Adric as well.

152. I can't stand it when yuri fans do it too--and yeah, I've seen it occasionally. But because of the places I hang out in fandom, I see it a lot less often, and therefore wind up calling it out less.

132. Yeah, this. GL's fandom was always like this. I suppose this is what keeps it relatively wank-free, anyway. Major wank always happens when BNFs become involved and BNFs don't become involved unless there is also popular fanfiction or fanart involved.

That's mostly because of how some of the believers like to shove their opinions down others' throats. If you are not like that then you have nothing to fear.

156: I get that way when I like any pairing outside my usual type. *too predictable* And completely OT, but that is a mighty cute font you have there.

If one of the show's creators saw my fanfic and decided to borrow my ideas I'd be estatic (sp?) because that would mean my OTP becoming canon and I can actually hear him telling her he loved her rather than (badly I might add) imagining him telling her in my head
