136. That would be... weird, to say the least. Bizarre, perhaps, on their part. But what do they think of it? That is the question... whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous ships, or to take arms against a sea of vast and endless slashfics...
146. Disturbing on so many levels.

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
109 - I see two monumental retards here, actually.

116 - I'm not religious (I'm technically Catholic but I'm only in it for the aesthetics), but yeah, I agree. Sure, there are crazies (in every religion, actually) but for goodness' sake, not every religious person is a closet fundie who is a raging homophobe/anti-abortion/etc. I know a lot of religious people who are awesome and have never tried to "convert" me or make me feel guilty for not being religious.

120 - You apparently don't know Hungarian anime/manga/JRock fandom. Let me assure you, there are lots of very loud BL fangirls here.
And if you actually read the manga, you might remember why she was given this attribute - it's because the Hungarian porn industry produces a relatively large amount of gay movies. And what a surprise, that's also true (at least AFAIK).

129 - I don't really follow that logic... so what if there was only one female ruler, does that still mean that the character should be female?
(I don't know why people are so hung up on the characters' gender. I honestly don't care. It's just a gag manga after all.)

146 - .....WUT. 8D

167 - No, you're just like the other part of slash fandom. *shrug* Some people are in it for the hot sex, others are in it for the caring, sentimental side, and some are in it for both.

Okay, even I'm sick and tired of the Hetalia secrets. It's just not funny anymore. IT'S JUST A GAG MANGA, PEOPLE. And fans, STOP WANKING, okay? O_o Don't make me relapse into lurker mode again.

Oh hell...

Hey, people, look at this: http://zepy.momotato.com/2009/01/04/manga-mudazumo-naki-kaikaku/
It's a GAG MANGA as well, featuring Koizumi Junichirou, Asou Tarou, Dubya, Bush Sr, Kim Jong-il and Putin. It's probably at least as offensive as Hetalia. WANK ABOUT THIS ONE, OKAY?

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)

101. Hey, that's not a bad thing.

116. I don't think you should hide it. Although some Christians made us look bad, but if they're going to judge you harshly for being one, it's their problem to fix, not yours, because they have to judge a certain sect of people as a whole. Honestly, I think of a lot of misunderstanding on both sides.

120. Hungary being a fujoshi is because Hungary has the biggest gay porn industry in the world supposedly. However, what made me fall for Hungary is how she bust in Prussia's house with such epicness that futile not to love her. She's cute and funny as well. I find her being a fujoshi hilarious because she laments about it. Sometimes, the nation's hobbies, personality trait and the whatnot are based on things like the most producing of such-and-such industry. The nations aren't completely made up of national stereotypes, y'know (and funnily enough, I've been told Hungary isn't based much on a Hungarian female stereotype either).

124. Dude, take a chill pill. It's not that serious.

126. Join now? I think it's a really unfortunate reason to not join a fandom that you want to because of some elitists.

129. But wouldn't that mean there would be less females than we have already.

134. "One is not like the others." This went through my head. But Osaka~!

138. Don't remind me, please. ;_;

140. Cool story, bro.

146. Lolwut?

160. Still ship it hard too, OP.

167. No, it just mean you like it for the relationship, which most slashers do. Just you don't want to read porn about it and that's fine.

The Rest of the Hetalia Secrets: Look, you can like anyway you want, really (personally, I find it hard not to be interested in the history behind the strips). Basing the fandom on the few is silly, the sandbox is big enough for all, even with people who play in a way that I don't like. 149, there is nothing wrong for the people to like the character since they are characters in their own right, just like you don't have like them too, and it was pretty much the same before the wank anyway in that regard anyway. 154, it's because some fans hate it that people want to fit a fandom with a certain label and some people don't like being called shallow.

It's a debate that no one can really win, honestly.

Not!Secrets #4: Utena is like 13-14 years old now and it's heyday was before the internet and painting software boomed. Be glad there's any in the first place.

124

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, no, there's no such Hungarian female stereotype... though you wouldn't be able to tell that from an average local anime con. :D Based on the attendants only, it would seem that at least 80% of the female population is into BL in some way. Last year we had some Japanese guests over, and they had this wonderful "et tu, Hungary?! x_x)" expression on their faces when they saw the hordes of girls screaming about whatever they found BL-tastic in even the slightest way.

116

(Anonymous) 2009-01-09 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
...Really? The guy who proselytizes to fans at conventions, makes fun of slashers and speaks against homosexuals? That's...probably not the kind of guy a religious person looking to be accepted by fandom wants to associate with.

146. Solution: Find one of those people who makes fuckable plushies for furries. They will hook you up with the soft sea mammal anus/vagina/blowhole(?) you so desire. Presumably.

152. So are you talking about yuri fans, male yuri fans, or men in general? Because most yuri fans are women.

158. Wait, was she supposed to be beautiful? I only remember her being described as always looking like she had smelled something foul, or something like that.

I'll go against the grain and say it's not that great and is made worse by an actress who acts and allows herself to be treated like a child in the novelas she stars in and the industry she works in. She's typecast into that though she's nearly 40. Hardly amazing.
Try some of the better ones like Las Tontas No Van al Cielo, or other comedy ones. Way better then the over dramatic ones they usually make.

Really wondering how this is oh so secret, considering that I tagged a gazillion Peter/Caspian fics at Narnia Slash/it's extremely popular. Seriously, it's almost more popular than Peter/Edmund. (Probably is, considering it doesn't have the incest kink some people shy away from.)

116

[identity profile] carbonatedh2o.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I, myself, am Athiest, but the intolerance of religion in this world (particularly toward Christianity) really bothers me. Yes, every religion has extremists, but many assume that the entirety of one religion is made of extremists, which is not at all true. Some people are like, "Oh you're a Christian so that MUST MEAN that you're going to shove Jesus' preachings down my throat and you're homophobic and blah blah blah." No. I know several Christians who are all for gay rights, etc. And not once has anyone ever tried to convert me. I'm sorry, I shouldn't be using Christians as the only example, since other religions are looked down upon as well. I'm just more familiar with the stereotypes and such for Christians, and according to your secret, it looks like you are a Christian as well.

Religion can be a wonderful thing. There is nothing wrong with having a little faith. I can't blame you for being afraid, but at the same time, revealing your religion might not be that bad. If people can't tolerate that you believe in a higher power (or something), then they are not worth your time.
