153. You mean ... Spike Lee didn't bother to say this when Flags of Our Fathers came out two years ago and only brings it up now, when he has his own WWII movie coming out?

I mean, I never would have guessed that's just his way of promoting his own movie! [/sarcasm]

I love Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood equally ... but c'mon. This has "advertisement ploy" written all over it. Clint Eastwood has a right to get snappy, considering all of the awesome movies he's made regarding race-relations and such and then he gets hit with something like this. It's enough to piss off any grumpy old man.

C'mon, Lee, c'mon ... leave Eastwood out of it, and go after those people who white-washed the cast for 21 or something.

159. okay so comment way late so you might not even see it, but -- i really don't get this and i would love an explanation? i mean, look: the show encourages you to sympathize with dexter, and the full, unadulterated look you get into his personality thanks to those voiceovers and narrations make you feel incredibly close to the man, more than any of the characters in the show will ever feel. all it says about you is that you're enjoying the show the way you're meant to? i have friends who're squicked out by the show - they can't accept it, can't do what the writers and actors and producers get the general audience to do which is engage that whole suspension of disbelief thing and be able to sympathize with a ruthless serial killer.

second of all, dexter is a sociopath, through and through - i'm amazed by the actor sometimes, because he's one of the few actors i've ever seen play a true sociopath for more than a single episode of a show and be so convincing every single time. but despite all that, he doesn't play games with his audience. he has a code. he has a sense of honor, despite the natural superiority to the rest of civilization that sociopaths feel, and he also has flickering feelings that border on emotion. what do you think that's there for? they're trying to make you sympathize with dexter because in the end he's still a human.

why do you feel bad or think there's something wrong with you for loving dexter and rooting for him?

164. i'm sure there was a point in your life where you didn't have fandom. did you feel empty then? /:

171. SEE ABOVE TLDR.

185. he is but it's okay because jensen's sheer "oh my god why the perfection" prettiness makes up for his lesser skills. /SHALLOW AND UNASHAMED

106 - HOMG, me too! I had very wide eyes and kind of jerked forward in my seat when we watched scenes from "The Glass Menagerie" in my lit class a year ago (seriously, ONLY a year ago) and the professor mentioned John Malkovich played our narrator. I was all "O_O!? HE'S REAL!?" And then there was "Burn After Reading" and I was like "Yeah, he IS real!"

114 - But what about naked foreplay BEFORE (potential) sex? You know, like shower scenes? Just wondering. :P

115 - I kinda do that too (but I don't lock my door, and I think my poodle would just walk in and sniff my floor and walk out). No shame in it at all! I used to do it to awesome TV theme songs, too, when the eps came on. It got me all pepped up for new episodes. But let your dog join in the fun! Most dogs love movement and will want to do it, too! (Also: some big dogs CAN dance.)

118 - REALLY AWESOME PLOTBUNNY. Quite scary, too, given how evil Ms. Coulter comes off as in the first two books of HDM. I did see TGC movie and she didn't seem SO bad, but she still had that awfully creepy aura that would require some major rebooting to Susan's personality. But hey, post!train wreck, so.... anything could happen. Now write it! :D

123 - I saw that and, not knowing he was in "Heroes," immediately thought "Carlisle x Sark!?" because that would be creepy!awesome (and I don't even like slash, but Sark is just 10 shades of win and awesome).

137 - First time I saw that music video, I saw the slash undertones. And I don't ship *anything* slash. I surprised myself.

147 - I did something like that with my crushes. I usually used fandom character names (for some reason "Xander" from Buffy was a personal favorite) but I had devised a system in which the first letter of the given name was replaced by an adjective starting with that same letter and their surname was replaced by a fruit or vegetable starting with the first letter of their surname. Of course, people saw right through me anyway. I think my face gave it all away. In retrospect, Superhero names would have been a MUCH better idea.

162 - I dislike "Twilight" too, but I bought the movie soundtrack. The song that I adore despite me having discovered it on the "Twilight" soundtrack is Linkin Park's "Forget All The Rest." But the Paramore ones are pretty cool, too!

164 - Yeah, it kinda baffles me too. And I have friends that I think are on the verge of being "in fandom" or should totally be in it, but being pushy makes me afraid I'm coming off as bossy and geeky and mean, so I only push "so much." Like with community suggestions and the like. Still, it'd be nice if I wasn't the "fandom geek" among my female friends IRL. *sigh*

132 - Now I wanna know what fandom that is and how ridiculous the names are. I don't bother to get in arguments in the DN fandom; I just stick with the official translation and let that be the end of it. But of course, sometimes official translations (in other fandoms) can suck/be wrong, so....

165 - ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA!!!! HIGH FIVE! :D :D :D

177 - Tee hee.

Oh God, I could write an essay about this. It saddens me how many people will probably skip over this secret or not understand what exactly it addresses. Or maybe I'm just making it personal for me, I'm not sure XD But it was the first TL;DR secret I've really read.

I think this is an epidemic in fandom and the Internet in general. People my age don't stop to think about the fact that when they are into certain fandoms, particularly those that deal with cartoons and the like, they are going to run into a lot of younger fans. I write smut on occasion and while I really enjoy it and would like to think others do too, I have a really hard time reconciling that underaged fans read it. I can't stop them, though on places like AFF there are at least some degree of obstacles in place. I've lectured so many kids that come up to me asking to see the fic, or telling me they've read it... Common sense would tell me that if I didn't want kids reading smut, then I shouldn't write smut for cartoons... and I've debated taking the fics down many, many times. *shakes cane* When I was your age, I had a sense of shame! I read my smutty fic in secret, at least!

But there are fans my age. And I typically relate to them. Even if a teenager is mature the majority of the time, the fact of the matter is that I can usually sniff them out. Teenagers lack the emotional maturity that a well-adjusted adult would have. There are people my age in the fandom that still cavort with teenagers and that's what really bothers me. I've been told "Well I RPed sex when I was [insert inappropriate age here]," and I really think that's a poor excuse, especially since I've often been told such things by people who clearly have some issues to work out XD

How is RPing sex or falling in love with a teenager any different online than it would be IRL? Would you approach a kid on the subway and start making innuendos? Not unless you wanted to be arrested. As adults, I feel we have a responsibility to know our boundaries and observe them. We should NOT expect a teenager to be able to "handle it" or say "Well she SEEMS pretty mature"... that's exactly what people say when they're dragged into court on statutory rape charges.

You do seem very mature for your age, but that's no excuse in my opinion. I have no respect for anyone that knowingly oversteps such boundaries.

So that's my two cents for the day. X3

I have no idea what you just said beyond "RPing sex with 13 year olds is bad, mmmkay," which seems to be common sense, which fandom lacks, so it'll continue. Making a TL;DR post about it on a community dedicated to making fun of people we disagree with is kind of like going to a Mcdonalds and asking the cashier about the specifics of how space ships work. out of 100 cashiers you ask, 1 will care, 10 will have no idea what you're talking about, fifteen will jerk off to Techno babble in generic sci fi shows that mean nothing, and 74 will ask if you want fries with that.

Seriously, as much as you want it to be, FOTC is NOT an obscure fandom. I have their fricking CALENDER. EVERYONE is laughing at them, unless you come from some obscure country. Do you? Stop trying to be a comedy snob.

Take it to the comments: It would be amusing if someone recognized cosplay-moron's costume at a con and knocked their damn lights out. As for the people who thought it was humorous...well, they'll get what's coming.

112 . Some of my favorite icons I found on multi-fandom posts. In fact, I think all of the ones I'm using now are. As to why people do it, I guess some people put up their icons in batches and make x-posts to show off their other fandoms? I don't know, but they sure do show off some nice icons.

115 . The sentence about your dog judging you made me laugh, because it feels pretty true! I love my cats, but I hate it when they watch me get dressed.

120 . Hey, someone finally made this!

138 . <3

140 . Shego is awesome. The Wicked book did nothing for me, but I would still love to see the musical.

156 . AWESOME MEMORIES RIGHT THERE!

177 . (Pssst, Hetalia's being replaced with Dr. Who now, right? Or maybe Soul Eater, there's been a lot of that lately.)

183 . I... I can't read it. The bottom part is too small and blends in with the background. But I'll just state my opinions about romance fic, anyway. Usually a fan-fic that is romantic and serious isn't really that good, being plagued with Mary-Sues, OOC characters, and lame plots. Say, if I read a One Piece fic, I don't want it to be someone's sex fantasy, I want a good story. Also, I usually hate fluffy stuff that would never seriously happen in the story. Two characters who hate each other can wash dishes together, but cuddle up on a couch? What? That's what crack-fics are for! But anyway...

There was good explanation to why Sam ended up in 70s. Because he was in coma and it was all in his bed. Like an extremely realistic dream. It doesn't make it science fiction, I guess, but it doesn't make it unexplained. Maybe you just didn't get it?

183: That's kind of sad, really. It says more about what you think of the people around you than it does what you think about romance... I can't imagine not wanting to talk about my relationships with friends.

If you can play REMake without being even a little scared, then you must have balls of steel.

( I've played every Silent Hill and Fatal Frame available in the US, and I'm still too scared of REMake to pick it up again. I only got 15 minutes in. )

169. Haha, I admit that sometimes I say that as a hint to people who obviously draw better than me and are saying "my art sucks". "It's better than mine AND THEREFORE YOU'RE SAYING MINE SUCKS YOU H0R YOU'D BETTER ADMIT THAT YOU'RE A GOOD ARTIST"

I know what you mean, I love his song "The Future Soon". I cried the first time I heard it. Which is kind of dorky considering it's supposed to be funny. He's dose this really great interview with Jesse Thorn on his podcast The Sound of Young America. You should listen to it.

185. I'm never going to understand this and all the variations of it. It's like saying that Angelina Jolie is better than Meryl Streep.
What show are you watching? Which one of them can say more and with more eloquence with just a tilt of head and facial expression than the other with a five-minute monologue [which Jared btw could not pull of if his life depended on it].
Which one of them cries watching the other do an emotionally heavy scene because he is just that good at emoting?
Which one ruins the best comedic takes because his co-star is just too funny?
Which one has a nickname One-Take-Ackles?
Which one has *impeccable* comedic timing?

Yes, Jared's gotten better, but Jensen is miles ahead of him. That kind of talent doesn't grow on trees.
