182: I think a lot of it has to do with the general mentality of the particular fandom. Generally speaking, the younger the majority of the participates in fandom are, the less maturity you're going to come across.
Before someone roasts me, I did include the clause 'generally speaking'. I know and acknowledge that there are plenty of younger people in fandom who are mature, and plenty of older people who have reverted back to a childish mentality while participating in fannish activities. I'm speaking generally because, well- all stereotypes have a grain of truth to them someplace. Look at conventions, for example, and how often people complain about a lack of maturity in the general populace.

That said, I think you're on the money, really. For something that is supposed to bring comradeship and a sense of community (like minded individuals enjoying a shared interest), it seems like we tear each other apart more than support ourselves. I have to wonder, then, if there's much of a point to fandom anymore.

Just my two cents.

Why is milk the only thing that's bagged? Why not bagged juice? Or water? Or soda? If the point is conservation, why aren't all liquids that usually come in jugs bagged? Milk spoils faster than all the rest, so it doesn't make sense that it's the only one that's bagged.

Canada is obviously discriminatory towards their drinks.

Either that or it's a question of HABIT in which case: Americans, leave the Canadians alone. Canadians, leave the Americans alone. PLAY NICE, KIDS.
