105: You've never cared for European nations? Like what, all of them? Cause there's a whole lot of European nations. I just don't have the energy to be that broadly judgmental.

111: The only way there can be good stuff on ff.net is if you put it there? Nothing egotistical about that. XD

123: Because people are mean and cruel and like to make fun of you for the things you like. Some things I'll own up to, but there are some that I'm not ready to take the abuse for.

124: Guh yes, mmmmm Malcolm McDowell. I met him. He's delightful. *squee*

131: Oddly enough, though I like Ten, I do too anon.

139: It's okay, he gets better.

142: I know I said up there that I do hide some interests from most of my f-list, you shouldn't hide everything. Dang y'know anon you gave me something to think about. Maybe it's time to stop hiding*.

143: LOL! Don't worry about it anon. When I met Malcolm McDowell (see 124) I managed "Hi" and "Thank you" and maybe some incoherent babbling. XD

149: What's the phrase I'm looking for? Ummm...hmmmm...oh yeah! Fuck you.

163: For me it's the scene where the AC dies. It just...no.

166: LOL! Awwww I now ship it too!

171: Well I know I joined because of F!S...

183: First off, I love you for loving Foreman even though you dislike the show. I think that's delightful. Secondly surely your friends like other stuff? You shouldn't have to pretend to like a show when you don't. I mean I love House but I don't mind if my friends don't. We just talk about other stuff.

*121 is mine

110. Wait, we're not allowed to like Edgeworth anymore? Shit.

133

(Anonymous) 2009-01-12 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really disappointed about the movie too, just like I was with the manga. I was hoping it would be more like the anime, not a complete retelling! I was hoping for a continuation of the series, with Renton and Eureka rejoining the Gekko Go, or a prequel based around Talho, Holland, the Beams and Dewey.

I just wish they would give us more back story about any of the characters. There are so many of the characters in E7 that they could do more with, but they don't :( That said, I'll still watch it anyway, hope it turns out okay...

[identity profile] zeiss-manifold.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Word. Not that R&E and the gang are bad characters by any means, but the others have so much potential that's just barely explored. The Beams are awesome in any context, and Dewey really needs a side project of his own - he's one of the most intriguing villains I've ever seen in any medium.

129

[identity profile] leloucia.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
it might help if you told us what the fandom was.

maybe I'm just lame for not knowing automatically.

Re: 129

(Anonymous) 2009-01-12 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I was an idiot and forgot to specify it when I submitted the secret. And of course, once it was submitted, I couldn't see it to specify that the fandom was Galactik Football. Though here, have a quick summary that I gave to the other person who pointed out that I could use this to recruit if I'd specified what fandom I was talking about!

Fandom is Galactik Football. It's a French-produced cartoon series about a sort of AU universe where each planet has its own Flux (a sort of energy) that is so powerful that it's been banned from use except during the sport of Galactik Football. The series revolves around the Snow Kids trying to make it to the finals and win the League Cup, while at the same time some bad guys do villainous political things in the background which the protagonists get tangled up in. Reasons to watch are that it has strong female chars, a lot of diversity amongst the chars, alien females that don't automatically have breasts slapped on them to signify that they're female, some really great one-liners -- and it's available in practically every European language. So far, I've seen it on Youtube in English, German, Dutch, Polish, French and Spanish.

[identity profile] sarcasmking.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
113 - =O I love our bagged milk! I remember that my grandma used to get milk in jugs and it just felt wrong when I would stay there. Milk belongs in bags, plain and simple.

(I just like using those dollar store milk bag cutters <.< Even though they SUCK SO MUCH)

184

[identity profile] skatergurljb.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Right on so many levels.

[identity profile] carbonatedh2o.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
111. There are a few gems on FF.net. I mean, most people know that not 100% of the fics on there suck, but a good majority of them do. I encourage you to post your fic, but I don't think it's going to do much in "proving" that FF.net can be good. I mean, it's still 1 out of a bajillion fics (lol not a real number). However, it will add to the small number of "good" fics on that site, so yeah. Go and post it. However, you may not get many reviews or readers, because good stories are often passed up for some inexplicable reason.

147. Well, I can see where the artists are coming from. Yes, it can be annoying when you have to go through an arduous process to use the art. However, I do think that if someone wants to use someone's art, then the person using the art should credit the artist. If the artist requests to be credited, I don't think that's elitist or anything at all.

110

(Anonymous) 2009-01-12 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...why would the fandom think that? o_O I always thought Edgeworth was the character that was popular with the guys and girls alike. And anyone who thinks that people only like him because he's pretty is, frankly, stupid. Partly because you don't need to be an English major to know there's more appeal to his character than looks and partly because...he honestly isn't very "pretty."

Just trolling

(Anonymous) 2009-01-12 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
155 - Proof Hetalia fans are in it for the gay. Israel wasn't even a nation in WWII, so why would it be there?

119. Aww.

130. *Also does that on occasion*

168. I don't see how anyone could hate Ogiue. (...Except for Ogiue herself, I guess.) I mean, I could see how one could dislike her, but really, I can't imagine reading her backstory without feeling at least a little sorry for her.

OP 168

(Anonymous) 2009-01-13 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. It's perfectly understandable for her to act the way she does after what she had to go through in high school. I can't stand it when people think that it's all just because she likes being a "bitch". She doesn't. It's a very sad defense mechanism that she was -forced- to create so she wouldn't be hurt again.

;_;

[identity profile] oldstarnewshine.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
143. My freshman year of high school, I saw Denzel Washington in Julius Caesar. I stood in line for an hour to meet him, and when I got to the front of the line I was so worried he'd be unimpressed with me that I had to be prodded by my dad to go shake his hand. Denzel was so incredibly gracious and considerate about it that, though I am still ferociously embarassed if I get my freaking pizza order wrong, I get warm fuzzies whenever I think of that moment. In short: if you're not a screaming entitled fangirl idiot, I'm pretty sure he was impressed with you.
144. RAIMEI! I really love her so much. I've gotten so attached to this show that I'm loathe to join the fandom because of all the inevitable Miharu/Yoite, which will just depress me. Sigh. But your secret gives me hope, I was sure fandom would be all over with the Raimei hate. She's a fantastic character. New fandom and rambly? Noooooo...
147. I so agree. If I could draw fanart, I would do it because I loved it and not out of some sideways sense of entitlement and ego. I make icons because I like making icons and I put them up for free because what the hell am I going to do with a hard drive full of livejournal icons. Art is pointless if other people don't enjoy it. If you want to charge, that's your perogative, but take commissions or set up a table at a convention, don't be so freaking passive-aggressive.
171. Nothing related, but: SCAR!!one
172. SUSAN! EIGHT! Oh man is that audio going to be FREAKING AMAZING.
184. I love you for this. Because the first Nine were so alike!

(Anonymous) 2009-01-12 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
143. That makes me feel a whole lot better.

113. When I stayed in a hostel in Canada we got served this bag milk and all i could think was...'WTF is THIS!?' I think it's more of a reason to LOVE the country more for the silly things it does...not dislike it. Though everyone has their reasons...LOL BAGGED MILK. ILU CANADA.

I was lucky enough to see a DVD screener - my husband (a Hindu) explained the history of the Ramayana to me after we watched it, so I was lucky enough to have that added perspective. :)
Sita's story is even more tragic in the original poem.

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
111 - I never had any problems with ff.net. Some of the best stories I've ever read are from there. I think the key is to learn how to sift through the crap to find the good stories, then ignore the crap and focus on the gold. It's not as difficult as many people think it is.

113 - Er, what? What the hell is wrong with bagged milk? How is it any different than putting it into paper boxes or bottles? My country also uses bagged milk (along with boxed versions, but in the past it was all bagged) and it's perfectly alright.

117 - Well, yeah. :D (Actually, I wouldn't have any problems with Bleach weren't it for the way Kubo treats Ishida and keeps focusing on shinigami, shinigami, shinigami all the time.) I'm not complaining as long as the manga looks good, which it does, but sometimes I think he just uses Bleach to get famous so he would have better chances in the fashion industry. That, or he just likes putting his characters Ichigo and some other guys in cool clothes.

123 - Word.

144 - But then, the main reason they don't treat her like crap is that she's not in the way of Miharu/Yoite. Is it still not all about the shipping? :/
(Disclaimer: I know there are people who genuinely like her but this is the impression I got from my time in the fandom.)

155 - Oh for chrissakes. This is what nationslash is for. (For the record, I hope they'll never show up in Hetalia.)

181 - I think sensitive is not the best word... is there a word for "taking things waaay too seriously"?

182 - Well, yeah. (http://www.plausiblydeniable.com/opinion/gsf.html) It's weird but there you have it.

[identity profile] oldstarnewshine.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
144. This is my fear about the fandom. Please tell me everyone's not like that? I really want to geek out about this awesome show to someone without it becoming about shipping.

HETALIA SECRETS

I don't love Hetalia, I don't hate Hetalia...

but those fucking Hetalia-secrets are going on my nerves =_=

Yes there are some "OMG HETALIA SUCKS!!!11lol!!"-secrets that all the fans think are stupid... but don't you think the "HAHA I JUST LOVE IT BECAUSE ALL OF YOU HATE IT! AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HATE IT ARE STUPID LOL!"-secrets are somewhat the same..?

If you Hetalia-lovers are THAT self-confident about your fandom why do you even care...?

I am from Alberta (on the Western-ish side of Canada) and I DO NOT KNOW OF THIS 'BAGGED MILK' OF WHICH YOU SPEAK. ALL OUR MILK COMES FROM CARTONS, JUGS OR THE COW.

Rumor has it my relatives in Ontario might use 'em though. But contrary to popular belief the eastern provinces =/= all of Canada.

113. For some odd reason, I liked the country more for that lulzy fact before Hetalia. And "Kanaaan"!Canada is loev.

117. THIS IS NOT A SECRET, MAN. And I agree with you 100%.

118., 131., and 172 somewhat. I'm already tired of this damn picture....

125. Don't worry, OP. You're like my brain twin with this.

144. I'm just happy she isn't called another Sasuke. But Raimei is all loev and I'm surprised that some ship her with Aizawa.

153. LOL, my little sister has the wallscroll with Cloud in it. I LOL when she gets all fawny over it since she's the serious, distant type.

162. This is the reason why I pretty much stopped it. I can't keep up with something like that. My mother loves it to death though.

168. People hate Ogiue? Damn, I love all the Genshiken ladies so much. ;_;

171. Probably is. I don't know if it's a good thing but HOLY SHIT.

178. Ugh, I know what you mean. Thank god, the team who does Loveless is actually good though. But seriously, most scanlators can do it better and that's bad.

Not!Secret #1. LOL, oh what the shit, I LOL'd hard.

I think the biggest problem I have with Cruise isn't his personality, but the fact that I can't see him as the character he's portraying most of the time. All I see is Tom Cruise on the big screen - and he's good (usually), but it's like there's big neon flashing lights over his head that say I AM TOM CRUISE.

I was fully expecting to hate Valkyrie when I saw it in the theater for the first time. The real Claus von Stauffenberg is something of a personal hero of mine (I read about him in my undergrad days, nearly a decade ago, and I quickly became fascinated with him and the 20 July plot). When I walked into the theater, I was thinking, "Cruise is going to murder Claus in this film, and I am actually paying money to see it! What is wrong with me?" I was really pleasantly surprised when I walked out of the theater; so much so that I went back to see it again today (and loved it even more).

Plus, the costumes! I turn into such a flailing history fangirl when I see WW2 uniforms (no matter the country). In general, WW2 films are really sex for the eyes for me. I say that I go to see if they're done well, but really? It's all about the costumes. ;D

Same here. The fact that it's TOM CRUISE just overwhelms whatever role he's in around 95% of the time for me. It's been that way since Minority Report.
