I've never really paid attention to the TokyoPop ones that much, but Shonen Jump's Prince of Tennis translations make me wanna cry. Misplaced dialouge? I'll deal. Sound effects randomly? I don't really pay attention anyways. But Shonen Jump couldn't even get half the names right. Seriously, they're the main characters! T_T

I respect them a lot for the changes they did bring to the manga industry in America-- more adventurous licenses, cheaper volume prices, etc. --but, it doesn't change the fact that their releases are so unprofessionally done.

The female team are all Rykers, and their special ability is Metal Cry, I think. Physically, they're one of the strongest teams in the League, and they definitely kick crazy amounts of ass.

It didn't occur to me to use this for recruiting but hey, if there's even a shot...

Fandom is Galactik Football. It's a French-produced cartoon series about a sort of AU universe where each planet has its own Flux (a sort of energy) that is so powerful that it's been banned from use except during the sport of Galactik Football. The series revolves around the Snow Kids trying to make it to the finals and win the League Cup, while at the same time some bad guys do villainous political things in the background which the protagonists get tangled up in. Reasons to watch are that it has strong female chars, a lot of diversity amongst the chars, alien females that don't automatically have breasts slapped on them to signify that they're female, some really great one-liners -- and it's available in practically every European language. So far, I've seen it on Youtube in English, German, Dutch, Polish, French and Spanish.

Hope that little blurb makes up for me having forgotten to specify what fandom I was talking about.
