Protip: Cosplayers don't generally do what they do just because they're convinced that they look just like fictional characters. Despite what you may think, many of us do it to promote our fandoms, to create something tangible that would represent our love for said fandoms, and to have fun dicking around in the garb of our favourite characters.

I've always liked it for the sheer fun and silliness of getting to dress up in costumes. If there's anything that is generally missing from adulthood, it's most people's ability to just do something quirky and enjoy it in a highly public manner (people take themselves far too seriously)

Yeah. I hadn't realized it at the time I was in it, but the Harry Potter fandom was something pretty unique. I've been in lots of other fandoms since then, but I've never made as close friends as I had through HP. HP fandom felt like one big giant family, and I really miss that.

135. Odd. I eat right, exercise, actively participate in activities beyond internet fandom. I don't feel like fandom diminishes any of those activities or like I'm not aware of who I am or not actively living my life because of it. Your fandom life does count... Maybe it just shouldn't be your whole life. But I've never met anyone whose whole life was fandom. I'm not sure those people truly exist.
