I loved the ending too!

Of course, I decided I loved it after about 2 minutes of being pissed off about it, but then again, King flat out addressed us, the readers, in the midst of the narrative and advised us to stop reading right then if we wanted to see the 'real' ending.

Come to think of it, there were a lot of instances where I was initially annoyed, then after some thought came to the conclusion that it was actually pretty nifty. Like the massive amount of meta. And the Crimson King fiasco.

I never thought I'd be defending this but if you don't like it, then don't read it. There's a little arrow on the bottom right corner of your screen, press that. It's not like this includes real children so everyone there is allowed to like and read whatever they want to just like you are allowed to read whatever it is that you went there to read.
Also, if your respect for the fandom is gone, then get the hell out and quit bitching about it.

And it's a KINK MEME. What the fuck did you expect?

Actually, they're mods, kind of. One site I know of is modthesims2.com and you can download clothes and hair and dress your sims up like anime characters.

101. Or, to look at it another way, perhaps you simply haven't met them yet. I went through a bunch of fandoms on my own before I met my ~OTP SOULMATE~ in this obscuere little fandom. But it took a long time, you know? So keep looking, OP! I'm sure you'll find him/her one day!

166. Ooh, I really like this one. Props to you, my friend. <3

[identity profile] biocaam.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
108. My sentiments exactly. Jacob and Alice were the only somewhat-awesome characters in those wastes of trees.

118. At least with Trekkies, the source material was awesome.

124. Good for you, have a cookie.

125. I am completely inclined to agree.

138. That could’ve been worded slightly better, but I get your point and I agree with it.

140. I’m not a fan of Hetalia, either, but telling someone to be ‘in a better fandom’ makes you a bad person and you should feel bad.

151. That’s how I feel a lot of the time. You’re not alone, OP.

152. I’m not in the SPN fandom, but god damn from what I see here you guys are all mysogynistic bitches. I normally don’t think that every anti-female secret is female depending on the wording, but really? I think I have a right to say that this secret gives off strong mysogynistic vibes.

156. If anybody calls this secret racist, then I will merely say that I believe that the OP meant color coordination entirely. :/

159. Baw, I want a fandom too, and I’m not into 2D/Murdoc either (although their interactions are hilarious). I simply can’t bring myself to write for it, though.

161. Oh hay OP, are you me? I’ve been in love with xkcd from the first time I laid eyes on it and got my friends to hop on the bandwagon too. What makes it so funny is the fact that it’s so true, especially ‘Wikifriends’ (that’s the only one I can remember on the top of my head at the moment).

167. Wat

171. Wait, people DON’T do that.

129. I think Zutara is dominant in the Avatar fandom because the creators of the story forgot or didn't understand what it was like to be a preteen and a young teenager growing up. People can say whatever they want about Aang being an enlightened twelve year old, but the fact of the matter is that he was portrayed to be very childish in his behavior. Aang having a crush on Kataara is one thing, but I think they were pushing the pairing too much. I have VIVID memories of life as a 12 and 14 year old and I can tell you that no 14 year old girl would ever fall in love with a 12 year old boy. I remember at that age, kids even a year appart were vastly different in maturity and experiences. That's like trying to compare an elementry school kid to a high school freshman. It's just to unrealistic for most people to accept and frankly I don't blame them.

[identity profile] chriseh.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
THIS.

This is exactly why I think Zutara is dominant. I'm not much into the fandom itself, but if I was shipping a couple it'd be Zuko/Katara just because it feels more realistic.

101 Needing that soul sister best friend is something you grow out of, I think. I have super duper close friends, less than five, but not like, one person OMG center of my life. And that circle of friends isn't a circle—like, they aren't all friends with each other. But they ARE my nearest and dearest and always know what's going on with me.

113 That is a sucky situation, man. Seriously sucky.

115 How could you tell from pictures at a con that no one would like art with no sex in it? And by the way, how is that really different from fandom, where a lot of people argue that if you write a story with no sex in it no one will read it?

116 I love them hard core.

118 True enough, though the trekkie slam is a bit harsh.

119 Thank you.

129 You're totally right; it is because you watched it all in a row. A lot of the Zutara business got rolling pre-season 3, and never mind the break due to the writer's strike in the middle of season 3. Hiatuses are deadly in continuing narrative, especially when there are fandoms there to look at every single item. If there hadn't been such a long time between HPGoF and HPOotP, or even more, if OotP and the PoA movie hadn't hit at the same time (both heavily H&H) I doubt that H/H would have gotten so much play from the new fans who came in post-HP5. It's really unfortunate for everyone involved.

132 See, that is exactly the problem I see in Hetalia. I know you're not saying this, but it's like the person who commented a few weeks ago and said they wanted angry sex based on what's going on in Gaza. That's not a good place to be going, I think.

138 Thanks for that. I agree; I don't hate Hetalia as a thing, but I think its fandom promotes a "nothing should ever be taken seriously or honestly cared about" ethos that I am very concerned about.

151 I posted two multi-part stories last year that didn't get many comments and actually, it was fandom secrets and yuletide that helped me to start thinking about it the right way. It often seems like fandom is a monolith, because so many people start screaming about one thing that you think that everyone wants that one thing. And if you don't, then not only doesn't anyone want what you have, but no one is making what you want, either. Well, the audience may be smaller for something different, but it's also hungrier, and that much happier to get it. Sometimes you have to work to build an audience, and pimp around a little more, and you won't be the one who gets all the attention. But you will be doing what you want to do, and not something you don't like just to get the love of fickle fangirls.

155 HELL YEAH.

158 Me too man. Wow, that show went downhill fast, didn't it?

168 Who is that with Bowie? He/she looks like Kelly Clarkson, weird.

I'm loving not!secret 6, man oh man.

118. You...you did not just compare Tawtlighters to Trekkies. Did you? The reason people think TL fans are morons is because they're getting obsessed over this sub-sub-par piece of garbage with no values or redeeming qualities whatsoever and treating a piece of mindless fluff like it belongs in the pantheon of literature.
Star Trek was history. Yes, cheesy and lame at times, but Star Trek had this incredible humanity to it. A black woman on the bridge of the star-ship in the 60's? Episodes that dealt with war, racism, religion, and humanity's treatment of them? Gadgets that in turn inspired everything from cell phones to computers? Characters with depth and flaw and value compared to that terrible piece of drek? Really?

Ah well. You misspelled Trekkie and failed on "their/they're" and the latter gives me leave to dismiss you as an ignorant child.

123. I don' think it's gay. Not really. I can see where Booster/Beetle would be so so easy to ship, and I have to admit, I giggle when they do things like, oh, threatening to call Gladys.
But that scene...it doesn't strike me as gay. Even if this was two characters of any gender in a relationship, it wouldn't strike me as gay or anything to do with romance. It's just pure, simple, unfiltered love. Miraculously, he sees his best friend, the only person in that time who believed in his worth as a person, who had been killed, years ago... he gets to see him again. If it were me and my best friend, that's probably all I could manage to say.

Not saying that they're not probably both a little in love with each other. Just...that's not the point of that scene to me.

I don't know. That scene was beautiful. That and Ted waving goodbye were enough to bring me to tears.

161. It goes beyond funny to downright beautiful half the time. I don't always agree with him, but man. Great strip.

I think I love you for this. And for your reply to 123. People just aren't used to seeing genuine friendships in the media these days, because usually any sort of affection these days is always shown to lead to a relationship, or at least sex.

I dunno. APPLAUSE FOR YOU :D

159. FUCKING SECONDED. I never like getting in a Gorillaz mood because the fandom has pretty much died down ever since Demon Days came out. I would love to read some cute gen 2D + Noodle fic (Murdoc can join in too just to be a loveable disgusting asshole). D:

164. Eh, I kind of agree with you somewhat. I originally was not a big fan of their voices (especially Kaito's) but I've gotten used to them.

165. DiNozzo tends to get on my nerves as well, but I found this creepy animu fanart of him with dog ears and a tail following Gibbs around, and now I can't unsee him as an overly energetic and annoying yet slightly endearing dog. hurr

YES. And I would totally read that.
It's downright depressing to see so little gen fic. You'd think with such wacky characters the fanwriters could've been a bit more creative. Maybe it'll change when the new album is released, but fandom's tricky.

127. Is it wrong of me to say that I'm upset that this very very bad suethor is black? Thus ruining the reputation of the other black people in fandom. Kinda like how if a major violent crime is commited and you find out the perp is black and you think "Damnit, stop making us look bad".

Is that wrong? Am I reversely racist?

118 - *yet another comment defending Trekkies, who are more awesome than you will ever be.*

121 - IAWTS

126 - Aww, bb, but the fandom is the best part. I &hearts it so much, even the parts that make me homicidal.

138 - Defining 'normal' went a bit far, but otherwise I agree. The thing that shocks me the most about this whole Hetalia kerfluffle is that some people genuinely don't see how Hetalia can be offensive, and that people have a right to be offended.

149 - real gamer geeks play games originally developed for the computer =p

129

[identity profile] inuyatta.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
129 - Methinks it's more to do with the fact that you watched it all in one go. Then Zutara seemed to gain more fans even after the finale because the chemistry between the canon couples was...well, not very well done or existent. I used to ship Kataang (not as actively as Zuko/Song, but...), but I found Katara to be rather irritating throughout S3, and Aang's character inconsistency really just frustrated me so much, I didn't care about it anymore. Zuko/Mai was rushed and cringe-worthy most of the time, so there's also a potential factor as to why there are more Zutara fans as opposed to Kataang/Maiko.

I don't ship Zutara at all, but I see the potential, and acknowledge that they had good chemistry as friends, so it kinda paves the way for future fic.
