109. I do say that about Christians, Muslims, Jews, etc. I give everyone I meet the benefit of the doubt and assume they are non religious, and when I learn they are, I think less of them.

111. The best of us suppress our power levels.

124. I got too addicted too. And then I realized that I could have more fun dragging and dropping things by organizing my image folders. Why are such things so addicting?

So you think less of about 90% of people? (Assuming you live in America. Though I'm sure whereever you live if it's not the US, it's still a large number.)
That seems like a pretty lonely, judgmental life for you |:

You say you're a radical feminist. Your world view makes it natural for you to see misogyny even where there isn't any. So, taking your opinion with a hefty bucket of salt, here.

Seriously, you're reading too far into these things. He writes songs with funny lyrics (Skullcrusher Moutain: you're not supposed to like the narrator. The Future Soon: the typical fantasies of any socially maladjusted lonely geek in high school. Etc.), not mantras about how to oppress women.

117: I have severe problems taking that film seriously but wow do I ship it. (In the movie, I am ignorant about the history. Or did you mean the actors?!)

121: I just can't stop thinking 'you're not really bald!' whenever I see Roslin without her wig on so that distracted me, personally. I squeed more this week though. :D

149: I never saw what was so attractive about him until Oh Brother Where Art Thou, and I think that's probably worse...

105. "@#$% me, Seymour! @#$% me all night long!"

111. ... okay, I knew about those mouse pads, but I should've figured one of 'em would be a Yoko ...

118. Old school Tenchi secret! ... Yeah, the whole Aeka / Ryouko debate was huge ten years ago. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who remembers!

121. Okay, this is what I get for not being up to date on the show. Heck of a spoiler. Ah, well, my bad.

144. If you're gonna shoot, gotta aim high, y'know? Think big! Works pretty well, sometimes.

150. Obscure pairing. Bonus points.

159. Is that you, Sara?

171. Is that you, Bachalo? (If so, fuck you. :-) )

173. Another Relena secret? Same poster, perhaps?

174. I keep getting that book confused with the anime-style Turbo Duo game from Telenet. -_- Same title.

I don't know, I'm inclined to think that formatting is just as or nearly as important as content and overall quality of writing. I can handle a few misspellings and uncertain grammar, but the overall structure needs to be polished in order to get the flow.

101. *chuckle* I went to go see my first Star Wars movie when A New Hope first came out in the 70's - I was like 4 or so. I've been shipping them almost that long. I remember asking my dad why Han teased Luke if he obviously likes him and not the Sweet Roll head.

105. Awesome.

Not only will Josh Holloway always be my Gambit, Sawyer's resemblance to Gambit is the entire reason I watched that show. I used to pretend Kate was Rogue.

(Anonymous) 2009-02-02 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
132. I over-identify with Tony Stark so much that I strongly suspect it's not healthy (also Hank Pym & Jan Van Dyne). Seriously, when Steve Rogers died, I lost five pounds because I was too upset to eat. There is not enough fail on this earth to express how fucked up that probably makes me.

108

(Anonymous) 2009-02-02 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
If I learn that someone is a Scientologist, Mormon, or hardcore "Bible Believing" conservative Christian, I can never respect them again. I will not read anything they wrote, watch anything they're in, or otherwise support them in any way. Because Scientology is a cult designed to rip its believers off, and Mormonism and Fundamentalist Christianity are nothing but misogyny and homophobia masquerading as real religion (for the record, I'm *not* agnostic or an atheist - I'm a Christian, too, and that's why I can't stand LDS and Fundamentalists in particular, because they pervert my religion into something vile).

Anonymous, because wanky comment is wanky.

When I said 108, obviously, I meant 109

(Anonymous) 2009-02-02 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Um, so pretend that it says #109.

Wanky comment is also mislabeled.

125. *bangs head on the wall over and over and over until concussion is achieved* How many times do we have to see this secret?

133. Your brother sounds hawt. :P

147. ME TOO!

[identity profile] kimchiburger.livejournal.com 2009-02-02 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Regardless of the fact that you deleted your comment, I'm sorry you feel that way. You see, I was referring to the fact that people are researching about an event to write a fic about it. A person wanted to write about Louis XIV and his relationship between the anthropomorphic France? Well, they're going to have to RESEARCH the actual information before relating it to the series. You want to write about the Hundred Years War? They RESEARCH!

You're intrigued by Hidekaz' interpretation of the Defenestration of Prague? RESEARCH. They look things up. What do you mean they're not learning?

We all know there are some fans who are there for the pretty boys, but EVERY FUCKING FANDOM HAS THOSE.

Gwen! ♥

she's my favorite person on Torchwood.

and then (in order) it's: Ianto, Jack, Tosh, and Owen

as far as the TW team goes.

but Rhys fits in there somewhere between Jack and Tosh. *nod*

I don't get why 90% of the TW fandom hates Gwen so much

107. Lyrics or it didn't happen. I've only heard a few of his songs, and they don't sound misogynistic in the slightest, so you had better bring proof before throwing around such careless accusations. That said, I'm rather disappointed in the number of commenters who accepted OP's claim without skepticism. Does nobody think critically anymore?

143. I know I'm completely missing the point here, but shouldn't you have italicized "white" instead of "man" if the secret is about you being a racist?

[identity profile] mcwicca.livejournal.com 2009-02-02 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
See, Scientology is in a whole different field for me. Yeah, it's a cult, but what really bothers me is that they completely dismiss the concept of psychology and psychological disorders. I was diagnosed with OCD when I was eight and was later diagnosed with a few other things. It's caused a great deal of pain and unhappiness in my life. But Scientology completely negates the suffering that I and other people like myself go through and essentially blames us for our situations. That is inexcusable to me. It was difficult and isolating enough being a young child with these problems, but I can't even imagine how I would have felt if I'd heard someone like Tom Cruise talking about how my problems were invented. That is absolutely inexcusable to me, and honestly, if you're a Scientologist, I lose all respect for you.
karel: (text; and girls have these things)

[personal profile] karel 2009-02-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, because small children flip their shit if they're prevented from washing their hands/checking the locks/unplugging everything in their room many, many times in one day, just for the attention (holy confusing sentence, Batman). Of course. That makes perfectly rational sense. [/sarcasm]

As a psychology student who was severely OCD about the seams in her socks as a kid up until age 10 (I wanted to be okay with it. I wanted it so bad because I would get into trouble if I didn't sit still, but it practically hurt. Especially dress socks. Those were the worst) or so, it just pisses me off that a religion tells people things like this.

104. Oh, jeez. I do something similar if I see a gazillion spelling and grammar errors right off the bat. Maybe I missed something good hidden by all the awful?

105. Audrey II/Seymour makes me mildly uncomfortable. Particularly since I keep wanting to call him "Louis Tully". >.>

110. Viewed the video right after seeing this secret. Not a huge fan of FF VII, but I cracked up over this. Thanks for ranting about/recommending it.

112. ...Now I want to see fic. Dammit.

143. Um, thanks for being honest? o.O

152. Never had to wear a uniform except for PE. Never particularly cared to either, but reading your secret sort of gives me regrets that I never had that experience. Then again, chunky people tend to look awful in those uniforms. -.-

109. But all of the other religions are more diverse, while Scientology seems to be nothing BUT CRAZY.

137. As much as I dislike Gambit, Josh Holloway would have been SUPER FUCKING AWESOME.

153. It's probably the only entertaining sports-ish manga out there. And even then, it's more about kick ass things you can do with super motorized rollerblades.

Basic 'training' to become a scientologist can cost hundreds of US dollars, and considering there's courses available that are broken into 16 parts, which contain 12 thousand pages of text and 450 lectures, that's going to be a lot of money. In addition, in order to become an audit that costs more than $10 thousand US dollars.

When i finally accepted Islam into my life, all I had to say was a single sentence.
Oh. And i downloaded the Qur'an for free. shit was so cash.

Hopefully you see where i'm going with this OP, although i do understand what you're trying to get at. Scientology =/= Church of Scientology, and there are a lot of...uh, forgotten the term for them, but basically Scientologists that are not part of the Church, they're just not heard of because CoS = crazy and loud, which means getting into the media, while peaceful believers = no media coverage.

Re: 109

[identity profile] masterfedora.livejournal.com 2009-02-02 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
FreeZoners, or possibly just FreeZones would be the Scientologists that aren't part of the CoS.

109. While I tend to try and ignore any of their religions just because...I..don't really care (no offense, religious members), scientology is a whole different brand. A religion built on aliens, paying money to get to different "levels", and women who can't make sounds during childbirth? Scuse me, gotta go lose some respect over here.

110. Ugh I know what you mean x.x

115. I don't pay any attention to Hetalia itself, but yea, research in fics is great :3 It always adds another level to whatever fanfic you're writing, when the author is talking about something known or that you might go "hey, I learned that in class" to.

118. OMG TENCHI YAAAAY :D :D I never see enough about the old Tenchi series. I was a Ryoko/Tenchi shipper though..

141. Same here! I became a little more outgoing at first out of desperation to find someone who shared my fandoms.. XD And then it got better :)

142. Go for it! There have been severa; talented people I was terrified tp approach like that, but I got over it and found out they were not only really nice people, but we've become pretty good friends :)

155. Happens :/ This is why I am glad I don't get into any fandoms that are just fads

159. Aw omg! You know, I think I like that WAY better than Mario/Peach...now I want to know who you are cause that pairing is making me smile xD;
