109: My personal issues with Scientology include things like how it's the invention of a science fiction author, how it costs an ass-load of money to belong (hello? are ya kidding me? isn't faith FREE?), how if you don't want to continue in the sect they shun the SHIT out of you, and... well... Xenu? WTF. I'll be the first to admit that just about every religion is a bit nutty and has some pretty inconceivable backstory... but... I just can't take Scientology seriously, and I feel a bit disappointed when I find out who does because I, imho, thought they were more intelligent than that. But hey, different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Thank god for that. I've tried to grit my teeth and be PC about this, but when it comes to Doctor Who, I DO NOT WANT A BLACK/ASIAN/CHINESE DOCTOR. A black/Asian/Chinese Time Lord who could be bloody amazing in their own right? Not got a problem with that at all. But for me, the Doctor is a white man, and I'm fucking sick to the back teeth of all the [usually non-British] trendy liberals all chirping about "Oh, we *must* have a black Doctor Who - there's no reason *not* to have one blahblahblahblah..."

Fuck off - there's a very *good* reason, in that what is so *wrong* about him being a white male? I don't see why Doctor Who has to become black etc any more than I can see why King Arthur, Ford Prefect, Robin Hood, Captain Kirk, or any *other* character who's been established as white should suddenly be black. What *is* wrong with upholding the status quo on this one?

Maybe the question should be more along the lines of "why are there no original black/Asian/Chinese/Polish/Welsh etc sci-fi et al characters in UK TV for everyone to root for?" full stop.

I had to stop watching this series for a while, because I got so emotionally attached to the characters, every cliff hanger ending had me in tears.

I'll probably pick it up again soon, but it stresses me out.
