oh man okay the one with the ventriloquist doll freaked me out when it did that spewing pea soup thing? that really disturbed me for some reason. And when I was really little I saw an episode of it, the one with the dude who turns in to a plant? And I saw the back of his head with like grass on it or something and I freaked out, for serious. It traumatised me, man.
and the one with the polaroid camera was creepy too
but a lot of them were super not creepy which was a relief.

101 - the Night of the Living Dummy covers scared me so much, I used to rip them off the book and just read it without the cover.

103 - iawts. i think there is at least ONE series out there in the universe that any random person on the street would like if they gave it a chance.. but people hate it =( It's just one medium of art. I don't get why everyone thinks all anime is exactly the same. Although, I guess if you don't like television, characters, plot, or images, you might not like anime.

126 - BE MY FRIEND. Lol I adore that series even though a lot of it is terrible. I fangirled like crazy at the end of the first movie when Michael finally becomes badass. I've actually not seen the third yet because I'm sad at the lack of Scott Speedman, although I do love my Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon, holla). My good friend almost drove up here to see Underworld 3 with me.. we have a billion inside jokes about Bill Nighy from that flick, too

That scene! It didn't make me cry. It was too twisted and disturbing to be purely sad enough for me to cry. Thankfully, though, it didn't ultimately "crush" anything, at least not in the longer run. Akio may have thought that it was checkmate, but Akio has a deeply flawed view of the world.

As for the second part... I can see why you'd feel that way, but I disagree. I think she sacrificed enough — all of her beautiful but ultimately broken and distorted dreams about princes, the dreams that she'd built her whole life around — without actually dying. Besides, if there's anything in the world of Utena more toxic than the Prince mythos, it's the Martyr/Messiah mythos. That's what created the whole mess in the first place.

And for a textual argument: "Wait for me, Utena. It's my turn to find you." Coming from one of the only two characters who can be counted on to know exactly what's going on, said as she steps out into the world of the living.
