I'd put a journal to this if everyone wasn't going to massively misinterpret the comment and give me grief over it. But I'm not even going to address any of the underlying issues here. That has nothing to do with what I'm about to say, and I'm going to say it, and I'd like to hope you take it seriously for a second, because that means it isn't true. This is my honest opinion, and I'd ask you to give at least a few seconds of consideration.

You are worthless as a person. You have no value as a human being, to society or any individual.

If you did not get hurt at all by that, if you blew it off, then it's true, because you have casually dismissed people as being worthless and needing to die for disagreeing with you on, guess what, highly controversial issues, have displayed militant levels of intense dedication to refusing to allow a person to be fictionally portrayed as another sexuality, and do not feed me that crap about depriving television of its one lesbian pundit, because they are depriving no one, just offering an alternative which is understood to be untrue. You have expressed the basic sentiment I have above, and moved on with your life, and if you just glazed over it there, that means you don't understand what it means. Which would be fine if you were using it as a generic insult, but I get the sense you honestly meant it, and I'd hope you think it actually means something.

So guess what, this is a personal attack on you. I hate you. And you should not let that ruin your life, or even your day, or even your next ten minutes. But if it did not ruin your five seconds, if it had no impact on you, you have serious issues.

I hope it did, and I would like you to think about it, about whether accusing other people of being worthless human beings is really a rational reaction to them pointing out that you may be overreacting by calling people who write pretend stories that are understood to be pretend and not actually trying to push an agenda.

And if you glaze over all of this, and your only response is going to be another bullshit argument about heterosexism, which I'm not going to touch because like I said, that's not the point I want to make here, then please, I only have one thing to say to you:

Die in a fire. Honestly. I would be happier if you were no longer alive. And if that doesn't matter to you, why do you think it will matter to other people?

Or is this another double standard, something allowed because you are an oppressed minority, and I'm -- apparently not, even though you know absolutely nothing about who or what I am? Got news for you, sweetheart, it only goes so far. Please go kill yourself.

I get where you're coming from, and it is very different to turn a gay person straight for fic than turning straight people gay. I have similar problems with Tara/dudes in Buffy fic.

But at the same time, RPF is based on objectification--it doesn't have canon the way fiction-based fandoms have canon, so you're for the most part taking pictures and stamping what you feel would be the proper personality onto them. In terms of gender and sexuality issues, there's a certain heavy stench to Rachel/Keith, but as a general concept it doesn't strike me as much different than say Rahm Emanuel/Stephen Colbert college fic or Rahm/Nancy Pelosi fic. In all cases they're shipped because people like their pictures and think they look nice together.

I mean I get what you're saying, and it is lopsided to turn one of the few openly gay people straight for fantasies compared to turning some of the many straight (or straight-assumed) people gay for fantasies, but the heart of the matter is it's all objectification of some kind. I think if people realize what they're doing, and that their fantasies are vastly different from and wholly unrelated to reality, it might not be as bad as it looks at first blush. Besides that, from what I see of pundit fandom and politics fandom, it looks like everyone's sleeping with everyone else in the fic. So somewhere along the line, there's got to be some Rachel/...I don't know, Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton or something, right?

Or maybe there'll be some Rachel/Anderson, and then everyone's brains will break because lol wtf.

107. No, just no. You should seriously read the latest chapters, and I mean not just chapter 41. If the latest is any indication, her new self is even more flawed but stronger than she used to be. For starters, she goes out and fight her powerful uncle on her own, without any help- that should be enough, and her actions have both good and bad results, and she makes her own decisions.

114 Fandom for this is even non-existant in Japan. I wanted to get some merch like figures and stuff went I went in April, but there was, like, nothing! I did manage to get a figure at a local con last year, though. Unfortunately it was AU$50 for a whole set.

Suggestion for you. Read Silmarillion. That's Middle-Earth too, and it's impossible that they could make a movie out of it. That way, you can read about Middle-Earth without be reminded of the movie characters.

And I know what you mean: Aragorn is one of my favorite characters in the book, but it took several watchings of A History of Violence to convince me that the actor could act anything.

Where is the truly moving idealism of Dead Poets Society, the truly amazing cinematographie of The Constant Gardener, the acting and costumes of Gangs of New York, the charisma and heartbreak of La Revolution Francaise, the 1934 version of Les Miserables or the more recent Milk, or the eeriness of Silence of the Lambs or Das Experiment? Where? If you can make a suggestion for me that has any of these, other than the anime I've already said I like, please do tell me!

You know, I kinda felt the same for a long time. I watched him in The Wackness and it felt SO wrong. Right in the beginning he said breasteses and i was like 'josh!' and you see....more of him than usual and it felt very wrong. But then my sister showed me this pic:
