LOL all the 'doing it wrongs' are clearly the same person.

101. I've definitely seen constructive feedback--but yeah, it's a rare breed. (And I suck at giving it, too...)
108. I SHIP KUTNER/EVERYONE. With lots of hugs.
123. Mmmm, Giles.
132. Seconded.
134. ...sigh.
138. Oh god yes.
146. Star Wars special/sound effects are the best thing ever.
156. Oh hell yes.
161. Mmmm, fictional Germans.

111: It's only obvious if you've been raised in a religious environment, I think? It wouldn't occur to me either; for the moment I'm most interested in the era when my country was formed, and would probably ask for that first.

121: From what I hear it's only half the fandom that hates her. Apparently there's a huge war between the Ichigo/Rukia and Ichigo/Orihime factions. All you've got to do is find the right fora, I suppose.

154: Yeah, I agree. I mean, Axel/Roxas isn't one of my OTPs, but the ones I've got I wouldn't want to see paired with other characters.

157: A Candy-Candy secret? AWESOME. And I agree, Terry/Candy FTW. XD

114

(Anonymous) 2009-02-12 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
114. Really? Awesome. I've been avoiding anything resembling a WALL-E fandom because I thought they'd all be super-environmentalists. D: That's a great forum. Having looked it up and read some, I think I know the poster to whom you're referring, and frankly, he totally earns the respect. That's a LOT of detailed, carefully collected information. I don't think he's encouraging pollution or any such nonsense; I think he's just saying that it's all natural, much of it is really helping more than hurting, and it's certainly no big, sudden catastrophe, imminent extinction kind of deal.

For me, it was nice to find out that the... writer, I think it was, did not intend to have an environmentalist message. Typical preachy Disney took it and emphasized that aspect, but it's nice, for me, to know that the actual story was not geared towards that. With that in mind I can enjoy the movie and story without getting annoyed by the heavy-handed "message".

My point being, though, that WALL-E =/= environmentalist message, despite how it was presented; it's a cute sci-fi robot love story first and foremost. It's nice to know there's a fandom around that's not totally hung up on the environmentalist part, like I feared there would be. :)

Most psycopaths are quite intelligent, as are narcissists. Charismatic too. Know how to appear nice, reliable and even smarter than they are. A place manipulated by one will eventually cease to be tolerable, trust me.

That's funny, I can't take people seriously who asterisk out letters in swearwords.

122. Best secret ever.

124. At least you know they did terrible things? And at least you're into it! To me, anything that gets people interested in learning is a good thing (unless they're learning about explosives so that they can bomb shit or something, but that's obvious). As far as I'm concerned, you're not hurting anyone by fangirling. Just, you know, be respectful if people seem offended and don't do it in front of them?

140. Errr man, none of my offline friends even have heard of Hetalia, and I'm not sure I'd want to bring it up to them...

143. Wait. Some of those things apply to me, and I really doubt I'm a bnf. For the love of christ, I write bad FE7 fic lol

149. It kind of does make you look lazy. Is it that hard to quickly add the iconist onto the end of the filename? generally, my filenames are the names of the characters (in case I need to find them quickly in my labyrinth of folders) and the keywords/actual words used in tiny!text.

156. I'm just excited because (yes, noob to Watchmen), there's a redheaded, freckled protagonist. That is awesome.

101. I think the reason most people don't offer more constructive criticism is that so many people get upset whenever perfectly fine criticism is offered. Most people would rather not waste the time it takes. That said, I only ever given concrit if someone specifically asks for it, or if the author seems like someone who won't flip a bitch when I give it.

130. That picture is so awesome! I <3 that community. I just...never actually participate to let people know. Hmmm.

154. I guess I'm not very good at having an OTP, then.

166. Finding the right fandom is very helpful for that.

Where the hell has she been "talking about it all the time"? Certainly not on RBR, because IIRC, she hasn't even posted anything in a month or so. And really, there's no need to get personal - if you don't like her work, that's what the scroll button on your mouse is for.

Man, if everyone in that comm bitched about every little thing they dislike like you seem to be doing, FW would implode. Stop being so butthurt.

111: hahah BIBLICAL TIMES!! now that would be interesting.
122: lololol
142: it would be really confusing if this secret was fake too. O_o

Re: 142

[identity profile] neth-dugan.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
But that in itself would make it a truth. Which could then, potentially, make it fake again and so on and paradox!

[identity profile] velvetalchemist.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
111: Damn... I second it.

117: I second this too.

143. I have to say, I lol'd, OP. Did you steal that list from my friend, by any chance? It sounds exactly like what her life goals have been for the past year!

Although... she wouldn't have the whole list checked 8( She's too wannabe, tbh.

[identity profile] soft-sweater.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
150 - what happened?

125, 135

[identity profile] only-for-one.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
125 - It's seriously nominated for best screenplay? I mean, I love the movie, I think it's adorable, but best screenplay? That's ridiculous.

135 - It's canon, there's no argument. The part where Pleakley puts the wig on? Oh yeah....

141

[identity profile] amazingblazes.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
SCARRED FOR LIFE.

136

[identity profile] crystal-lemons.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
136. I'm going to try and make this comment without sounding like a total asshole... cause I'm not trying to be. Here goes... I kinda like this sort of toung-in-cheek set up they have for girl characters. Nothing against them but as soon as one shows up I'm like "Welp... she's dead... but how will they do it this time?" it pulls me into it just a little more. Which makes me a bit of a freak, but oh well.

149

[identity profile] darthweez.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
That's actually a great idea. I should start doing that.

154

(Anonymous) 2009-02-12 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
EXACTLY. <3

I hate it when people are like, "You should really read this fic. I know that you ship Character A/Character B hardcore, but this one's Character B/Character C. I think you'll really enjoy it."

What makes you think that I'm going to enjoy it if one half my OTP is with someone else? D:

167

(Anonymous) 2009-02-12 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, I feel you OP.

My family has a history of abuse (father was an alcoholic/druggie for almost twenty years, his father was an alcholic, plus genetic tendency toward depression from both sides) and I experimented with some stuff I shouldn't have when I was younger. Fandom didn't get me out, but it sure as hell helps me stay out.

125

[identity profile] bamf-girl.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
IAWTS. Sooooooo glad I'm not alone in thinking Wall-e is not worth Best Picture, OR Best Screenplay.

125

(Anonymous) 2009-02-12 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
125. I agree completely. Yeah, I'll give Pixar credit for the animation but the script was just the robot saying "Wall-Eeeeeee" over and over. And the humans just said dumb things. In fact, I like to joke that it was a sign of the writer's strike.

Re: 125

(Anonymous) 2009-02-12 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly you haven't read the screenplay.

They made a knowing decision to make a movie without much dialogue. It's been done before: there was a whole era of silent movies before they found out how to add the voice, you know.

It is in fact harder to tell a story without dialogue than with it, as you need to show instead of being able to tell. One needs to be fairly stupid to assume movies telling a story without dialogue have lazy writers.

[identity profile] puppy-tenchan.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
115 As far as I heard, Scrubs actually did thorough research about even the smallest medical facts in the series, despite it being comedy, unlike other, serious hospital series, so that doesn't surprise me.

I've heard several people who are IRL in medicine say that Scrubs is the best/most faithful of all the doctor shows. Which I find really interesting. (And not surprising, with the tiny bit of experience I have with working for doctors.)

101 - You have reminded me that I have a million and one fics I should give honest and critical reviews too. Sometimes fans just need to know you love their sh*t!

103 - Lol, when I first saw B!S I mistook it for bullsh*t because the secret's font was small, but then I realized my error after reading more secrets. :)

121 - I like Orihime too. :O <---iz shocked to find out that's a bad thing?

136 - Yeah, it's messed up. :(

141 - Ugh! Dude, SO did not expect to see that. x_X <---is dead because brain broke

147 - Lolz, it was an awesome moment.
