154. I think the meaning of OTP has gotten watered down a lot in the last few years. I'm guilty of using it to mean "pairing that I really like" myself, and not "pairing that I like these two only with each other." Even though I do have pairings that are really truly OTPs. And I'm rambling now.

This makes me glad I'm not in the fandom. Gaeta is still one of my favorite characters, and I really thought the show did a good job showing the ambiguity in his situation. Sure, his solution was, in the end, the wrong one, but I certainly understood his POV (after all, he doesn't know what we do about the good Cylons).

Wall-E is a cute movie, but I think when you call it an all time great, you're lowering the bar about ten feet. Yes, it's an accomplishment to tell a story with actions alone, but did everyone else fail to notice the end of the movie with the huge exposition dump?

The movie is getting critical praise for doing pretty much the same things Iron Giant did, and did much better.

I have a hard time giving straight-up constructive criticism because I've had my throat jumped down a few too many times for being "mean" or "nit-picky". :\ I know that shouldn't deter me, because there's a lot of authors out there who desperately want to hear "why is X character there" or something similar, myself included. (I found my beta reader that way, and man has my work improved!) But at the same time, there's people out there who think concrit means "you missed a typo", or who are honestly so delicate that even a gentle nudge upsets them. Then some people are just so full of themselves that it'd be easier to move a mountain one rock at a time than get them to consider that their story could be improved.

With people I know I can make that judgment call, but I don't know 90% of the fanfic authors I read. In the ones I do know... Erm, Concrit still isn't taken well, actually. Even if they ask for it, do they mean concrit in the "omg typo!" sense or in the "omg plot hole!" sense? Most of the time it seems to be the typo-type that's wanted... So unless I'm almost certain it'll be taken well, I leave it at squee. And if my concrit isn't taken well, I probably won't review that person ever again. (Tip: Even an insincere "thanks for pointing that out, I'll give it some thought!" is better than "STFU" or "why are you being mean to me?".)

154. (nods) I completely agree. Your friends are kind of rude for asking you to try something they know you won't enjoy. ("Here, I know you hate fish, but I made this trout for dinner!" UM, NO.) Kingdom Hearts is a bit tricky sometimes though. >> The whole "Roxas =/= Sora?" issue is... Well, completely befuddling. But an OTP is an OTP. I don't mind prior relationships or whatnot, but an OTP should be the focus. (nodnod)
