114. In a Wall-E forum? Really? Why does there always have to be ridiculousness everywhere on the internet?

143. I particularly like when they're all like "I'm not a BNF, what are you talking about? blaah, blaah, blaah, I love everyone." Ridiculous. Seriously, the best thing to do is ignore these people. You're there for the tv/movie/band/whatever. Not for someone else's ego.

164. I like him too. He seems like such a genuine person and I really appreciate those people lately, especially with all of the ridiculousness in this world. I knew he had music but I've never heard it. And he's a writer? Really? That's so cool! I know what you mean about heroism. People throw that word around a lot for everything so when someone does come along and do something that is heroic, it almost cheapens it, in a way.

They're making a TV show of Hero? *____*

No one's slick as Gaston
No one's quick as Gaston
No one can take a large cock up the ass like Gaston
For there's no man in town half as manly
Perfect, a pure paragon
You can ask any Tom, Dick or Stanley
And they'll tell you whose dick they prefer suck on~~~~

the lyrics, they write themselves..

112. What you do or don't write really has no bearing on how "good" you are at writing, in my opinion. If you love to write about it, you love to write about it. What's wrong with that? But it's a shame that those around you can't appreciate what you do and what you love. I know I would feel much the same way if no one close to me showed any interest in the things I like to write about (which aren't much different, really).

117. Aw, Bill and Ted! <3 I definitely agree, by the way; that exact phrase is what I've long thought most world religions to be about when you really get down to it, despite all their other differences. It's unfortunate that the believers of some of those religions don't seem to understand this.

121. I think my not being in the Bleach fandom has made me entirely clueless as to why so many people hate Orihime. From what I've seen/read, sure, she's a little ditzy, but she's well-meaning and cares a lot about her friends, and I can't help but admire that. If that's why people hate her...well, I don't think I'd want to be around such people.

164. ...Grant makes music? And is an author on top of that? I had no idea! Time to go investigate this further. Still, I know what it's like to have someone well-known make a big impact on your life through what they do/have done, and it's wonderful that you have that as well.

121

[identity profile] xevochic.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never seen any open hatred for Orihime since I've started Bleach, but I don't really get into fandom outside of capslock_bleach and soul_society I think that those who do hate her might mostly be those who feel like she "threatens their ships" or think that she's "completely useless" (despite the fact that Aizen himself needed her). It's probably the former, since that's usually how things go down in fandom.

114: Really? That’s so weird, given how left-wing, environmentalist the movie is!

And wow, two WALL-E secrets at once!

123: ROFL, I took a Chinese history class once and ME TOO! :D I love Giles so much….he’s so awesome I bet he could have come up with the W-G system! ;)

149: Lol, I so agree! :p

159: Um, hate to break it to you but Twilight is by far the worst written of the series (very noticeably so), and just as Gary Stu/Mary Sue-filled. I know you said those were only excuses, but they aren’t good ones…

166: KATIE MCGRATH!!!!! :D I hope this doesn’t mean you’re dropping out of the Merlin fandom after only a few months though—there’s still another season next year!

No plans to drop out yet, just acknowledging that while my shiny new fandom is currently shiny and new (and oh, how shiny it is!), I'll probably move onto something else soon because I'm annoyingly fickle like that. :(

123. After years in communication studies, I still grin and think of Star Trek: TNG every time the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis is mentioned.

162. Me too. I often have crushes on characters and very rarely on the actors who play them. But I have a huge crush on Seth Green. He's cute, clever, funny, and a giant nerd. Who can resist that?

122. FFFFFF

139. I started watching it because I thought it was an fun mecha show... but little did I know it was going to be THAT epic. I cried mulitple times watching that show.

149. I'm always like "yesssss" when ever the username is in the file name. >__>

153. I used to do that, but there was this one time where my favorite character died, and now the song that was playing when it happened makes me sad whenever I listen to it.

149 - I do, or try to, at least. I don't make a ton of icons, but when I do, it follows this format: the-sweet_keyword.ext. When I save, I make sure to save them with the icon maker's username (or community name, if they prefer) right then and there, plus a keyword. It takes all of five seconds to look it up as you're grabbing the icon and (hopefully) commenting. So yeah, iconmakers could go and rename all their files; it wouldn't take much on their end, but the problem with that is that some places (TinyPic comes to mind) rename the file names and change the extension, too. In the end, it's the person using the icon who should bother to save it with the proper credit and a keyword in the filename. If you want to use it, take the time to write that info in as you'll best remember it!

159 - How is it that you manage to spell the (godawful, wish-she-would-just-grow-a-brain) author's name wrong when you have her name on the book cover images RIGHT on your secret?

Beyond that, don't box yourself in to the pathetic archetypes that Meyer created. You're not Bella; your ex isn't Edward, and your current bf isn't Jacob. Besides, Jacob wasn't all that great, either: he bordered on being a rapist, was hardly a good sounding-board of a friend, and ended up believing that he'd never really loved Bella; he loved her ovum-that-would-be-Nessie. WTF? Why would you want yourself or your relationships to even REMOTELY resemble that? Be yourself and let your boyfriend (and ex) be themselves, too, not reflections of badly-written characters. If things don't work out between you and your current bf, it's not because your "twu wuv" actually stayed away from you for your own good but he still truly, madly, deeply loves you and it's just Evil Fate keeping you apart. It's not because your current bf is a manipulative but somehow well-meaning guy who wants to change you (what, like the [vampiric] ex who devastated you didn't do that? Oh wait, that was Edward) and ends up being in love with your ovum/little sister/mother/whomever and not really YOU. Yeesh.

[identity profile] sherrilina.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't blame anything Nessie-related (including thinking he'd never loved Bella just her ovum that wasn't even a twinkle in her mother's eye yet) on poor Jacob, he had no choice in the matter, it was all Smeyer....and Jacob was never close to being a rapist, borderline or otherwise. Kissing someone unasked in a desperate attempt to show them another option when they're about to kill themself is not rape--he would never have forced himself on her sexually.

104. YAY Gintama secret! I'd ship them too if I didn't like Okita/Kagura so much. Then again I'm somewhat loose when it comes to pairings in that series.

128) I will first say this: Everything I know about Bleach, I learned from watching BuriMyu. And then I will say this: it made me wonder how anyone could ship anything involving Ichigo or Rukia OTHER than Ichigo/Rukia, because of how blatant it was in BuriMyu. I don't even like the show and I could tell they were pushing it haaaarrrrrrrd. IS it that obvious in the manga/anime?
