Same here, anon. :( Same here. BNL has been my all-time favorite band since I was at least in fourth or fifth grade, and then bam.

[identity profile] hyper-piggie.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
104. - Try Order of the stick (http://www.giantitp.com/Comics.html). Vaarsuvius's gender has yet to be revealed. Even though other characters have made references to not knowing, it's left ambiguous.
117. - You got your wish. Good for you. (Nothing else to say, sorry, I don't play Halo.)
132. - I flat out told one of my friends that I luved the show and thought it was deeper than the kids show she claimed it was. Then she actually watched the whole series and she luvs it too. Don't be afraid. It's a great show.
136. - I call it legit (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=half-your-age-plus-seven%20rule). Added acceptability that 16 is marrying age in the Water Tribe.
137. - I draw in my college classes, but I do pay attention. It actually helps me to pay attention. I figit a lot, and when asked to stay still I lose focus and daydream or nod off. By doodling, I can still listen to what's being said and keep my focus.

[identity profile] shixon.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
137. I actually read something about that. It's better to doodle when you're learning than to daydream. It's actually more effective that way and it actually helps you focus rather than daydream and not giving attention at all.

104:May I suggest Soul Eater? If you're looking for a character that doesn't have it's gender specified :)

107:What IS this? Some kind of Sci-fi Looney Tunes cartoon??

133:I kinda want to add some things on the nightmare fuel page(Television show page), but I have no idea how to do it.

t!b 1. There are worse women to go lesbian for.

103. Ooh it's that oddball game where all the girls are deeply disturbed in some fundamental level. I wonder if there are enough of those games out there to serve as their own subgenre now.

123. .... Barret/Cloud is the only pairing that I find interesting in 7 LET THE WANK BEGIN MOOHAHAHA my evil plot has beguuuuuunnah!

125. These look real familiar... what anime is this?

137. I believe that on an average scale, there have always been those too lazy or foolish to pay much attention to anything beyond their own, narrow interests, such as a higher education and the ongoings of the world around them. I do not believe that fandom's core nature is doing anything to either affect or decrease this number: we just meet a lot more of them since the internet allows us to see the world as it is, what with giving the full mass of the grey majority a voice to communicate with.

Hence, I would advice you not to worry. The brilliant ones are still out there and still doing their best to educate themselves. As is the grey majority continuing their constant march into a grey, dull, featureless future for themselves.

141. I want to watch Kaiba one day, partially because it has such an odd art-style. I mean, a show that looks like a children's cartoon from Eastern Europe with a plot full of heartrending tragedy and bittersweet stories? Sign me up. Just gotta make room in the schedule, as always...

144. Isn't TTGL about defying norms and doing what's considered impossible? Honestly, I think it's be easier to be a loving and supportive person who is very important to someone else, than it is to face down an army of enemies as numerous as the stars in the heavens, so I think you got a pretty good chance nonetheless. Spin on girl, and if anyone tries to tell you it can't be done, well. You know what to boldly say to their faces.

146. What is this show?

153. I think the eyebrow is just there to be an amusing little touch aaand nuthin' else. But the eye-part? You and me both.

I know absolutely jackshit about hetalia, but I was curious so I just went and checked out the comm...in just a very quick scroll down I saw two very nice works of fanart that have less than 10 comments (and one that had, like, 139 comments - it was pretty nice, but not nicer than the other two I saw.) Bottom line: I wish the two fanartists with less than 10 comments that I saw, would 'gtfo' of hetalia and make fanart for some of my fandoms instead.

[identity profile] tenmorehours.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
133. ........THERE IS AN EDIT BUTTON ON EACH PAGE! It's in your secret! See it there, above and between the blindingly lime-green "To" and "edit"? EDIT PAGE? THAT BUTTON? RIGHT THERE.
Am I just...missing what the secret actually meant? How could they miss it when they typed right over it???

141. I've been wanting to see that ever since some representatitves from the studio showed a trailer of it at a con I went to. The art style just blew me away. Thanks for reminding me that it's on my list, OP!

150. I'm honestly just tired of him because...I'm...sick of celebrities that think I should care about their opinions. Not that their opinions are important, everyone thinks that way, but that I'm desperate to tune in during an awards show just to hear about what makes them mad. Feel free to mention some cause you're concerned about in your speech or whatever, but rambling on and on and on about the horrible things in the world--not to mention having another actor talk about how much he deserves an Oscar because he's God's gift to humanity--just makes him sound...stuck up.

150

[identity profile] arcadiaego.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really like all of the man's political opinions myself but I've got to defend him on this point: he won an Oscar for playing Harvey Milk. It would have been extremely surprising and ridiculous if he *hadn't* mentioned gay rights in his acceptance speech.

Plus there's the point that if someone's just won an Oscar, that's the one time they *should* be allowed to say whatever they damn well please, surely.

[identity profile] 7thisgod.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved Kaiba for the art-style and thought the first two episodes were truly autiful; they kinda lost me when they tried to go for a kind of over-the-top larger-than-life storyline when Yuasa's direction and writing wasn't clearly up to the task. The final two episodes were more funny than poignant or whatever effect they wanted to achieve. You should watch Mind Game and Kemonozume, they showcase Yuasa's true talent at working with more grounded, human conflicts within ridiculous settings rather than ridiculous conflicts in more serious settings.

Still beautiful to watch, though.

102. Oh, for srs. I love that site and rely on it way too much. But then again, I think for a lot of us, it's one of those movies we'll be at come hell or high water or...low ratings. :\

105. All the Juno-hate bugs me. It's just backlash because it was so popular; it's really kinda unrelated to the quality of the film. No, I mean, no one talks like that, but it wasn't srs, for god's sake.

112. Nooooo! Well, early seasons only, right? Pre-haircut/Yale/annoying whore-ness? She went so downhill; it was depressing. So did Dean. I mean, the boy dumped her THREE TIMES. And then got married on the rebound in between there. And then cheated on his wife. And then got scarily, Edward Cullenishly controlling. S1-2ish Dean/Rory only. :(

126. They are both INSANELY hot. And now you mention it, they kinda remind me of each other. Man, if I wasn't kinda gay before...

133. Yeah, it seems kinda weird. I tried to go there because I was told there were LOLZ to be had, but it's quite hard to navigate. :P

137. I know a few people like that; whose lives have just been eaten by fandom. I respect diehard fangirlism, believe me, but IA with you that it's really bad when people ignore the real world in favor of it.

143. I...I...wha...? IS THAT YOU, MUSEY?! COULD IT BE? OMG ILU! ♥

150. Langella FTW. :( (I know you totes said more important things, but, you know, I has priorities.) I can't believe F/N went home empty-handed.

[identity profile] dragynflies.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)

134: Agree 100%. The only thing I ever notice is bad voice acting and absolutely terrible live acting. Most minor stuff I can't tell and don't care about.
136: I fucking hate Avatar fans like this. OMG IT'S PEDO well fuck so are half of the ships in Pokemon, Ash is ten ffs and people still ship him. It's not like you want them to have dirty secks now, there is such a thing as romance you know :/

105. ...She might see a quality in Juno that she hates in herself. I don't want to make assumptions because I don't know your friend personally, but from experience that's mainly the reason I've seen as to why people hate characters like themselves. :/

129. Welcome to wonderful world of Trainwreck Syndrome! Don't try to resist.

[identity profile] gnimaerd.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You think YOUR pairings are being ignored?

Try being a femmeslasher, dude (in most fandoms - maybe not Xena, but most XP). THEN your pairings will get ignored.

I don't hate Lucky Star (I just couldn't bear watching more than 13 episodes of it), but I agree. The crossover videos are fun.

[identity profile] etherealtsuki.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
108. Then make it yourself. No one is stopping you. I, for one, like something like that.
tl;dr: Stop BAWWWWWWWWWWWing.

110. I think that sketch is cute~!

111. Why do you want to be like those mentally fucked up characters? I mean seriously(Okay, I don't really read any of Minekura's stuff, but I'm going on from Yuki, Usagi and Shigure). They aren't really characters you should fashion your personality after. Just saying.

117. Congrats, OP on getting 117. Dunno about the rest. Personally, I think you can like a series through its characters than the plot.

123. Wait, the pairing wars will rage strong TODAY?!

131. Firstly, quality =/= comments. Secondly, I do agree that the fanarts exploded like WAO, but if it's really pissing you off, just drop the main comm and join [livejournal.com profile] hetalia_daily, problem solved. I think there's a ton of fanart because people are extremely intimidated to do fanfics in that comm.

133. There's a "Edit Page" Button where those periwinkle blue buttons are. Just observe the script and you will get the hang of it.

137. Psh, it's somewhat true that teenagers and younger adults aren't that aware of what's going on around them in general. Not saying there aren't well-informed teens and young adults, but you get the picture. But I LOL'd because I basically doodled my way from junior high thru college. It helps me from falling asleep from the extremely boring classes and helps me focus (I'm a visual learner, so classes that are dominant in auditory teaching will make me tune out if they aren't backed up with visual information, in other words, and lecture classes make me fall asleep no matter if I love the subject or not).

141. I need to see this series. I keep telling myself to but keep on forgetting.

150. I thought Rourke was gonna get it, to be honest.

154. What I have to say might sound callous, but it is the cold, unfair and bitter truth: it is simply Ledger was a much more prolific actor than Brandis. Humans have a funny way of categorizing things, including importance of death. Brandis' suicide is a very tragic and bitter look how Hollywood can literally destroy someone. People often underestimate how hard it is to make a comeback in that kind of super competitive environment, especially when you were a child star trying to get into the adult actor category. It's prolly even worse since being a child actor might create a belief that acting is ALL you can do, especially if you sacrificed your normal childhood and adolescence for it.

Now, look at Ledger. Ledger was a newly minted A-list star with a very promising career ahead of him, plus he had a young daughter. He was on the verge of becoming something pretty big, then with a careless yet common decision, that got cut short. Stars like that tend to be mourned more if they died that way (see Aaliyah back in 2001) than a child star who has been out of the spotlight for more than a couple of years, they see it as a great talent wasted.

Personally, while I was sad about Brandis' death, which I found out on a E! documentary, Heath's affected me more because he had a young daughter and I was a fan of his since '10 Things...'.

That's them bones.
