108- Whatever floats your boat. I personally think that he has been deified for being assassinated. There are newer biographies out there that show a more balanced picture of him. JFK too. Neither were perfect men.

Wow. I don't know what to say. From reading your secret, it doesn't seem like the height is actually the main issue; it seems like you're angry that she said she wanted to cosplay a character that you also wanted to cosplay and that you should have a right to him.

But I don't know. Like you, I'm 5'0" and planning to cosplay Ciel, but unlike you, if my friend wanted to cosplay him too, I would not harbor such hatred, or resentment.

Even if the real issue for you is the height (which is shouldn't be -- cosplay isn't that serious), that is pretty ridiculous. You don't own the character.

Going as a group makesthings a little more difficult. The rules that we used to follow were that no one takes the character the first person wanted [whoever introduced the series gets dibs], doubles are a bad thing, they encourage resentment when someone does it better.

I sew the costumes, all of them, for the three people [+2 others who meet us at convention] so being forced into a different choice other than my first and still having to sew the costumes is like salt on the wounds.

It's bitchy, I know, but I don't open my mouth about it because I don't want to cause issues with my friend. I just want to get it off my chest.

Unfortunately she does this quite often [taking characters, pushing people out of their roles]. This is the fourth time, and not just with me.

Man up. The reason you're mad isn't about her height at all. It's that she's cosplaying the SAME CHARACTER.

I almost felt for you. Almost, since seeing cosplayers ridiculously out of their body range can be irksome, but it's just six damn inches, and if her construction and wig styling are amazing, NO ONE WILL CARE. Even the elitists. They know good cosplay when they see it, and height won't matter.

They might be "tall Ciel" or "leggy Ciel", but at least they're not bitchy Ciel. That would be you.

117) If fandom and anime were your main reasons to go, it's probably best that you no longer want to. Of course, that's assuming you wanted to go for the animus and merchandise. Also, you don't necessarily have to be in Japan to use your education (see: jobs in translation, general study, etc.).

121) Eh, I like to think playing story-driven games just to look for subtext between characters is a waste of time. Canon first; speculation after. Then again, does anybody only play these games to look for BL hints?

158) I don't participate in the fandom, so I don't really know how Ozymandias is perceived in it (other than, LOL SO CRAZY).

I kind of agree with the idea of him as a tragic hero. However the only thing he'll have to bear is the guilt/remorse of nuking a city, murdering a small army of artists, and having the world believe a lie; but that's the only payment for his actions. His tracks are covered, and Rorschach can't "rat" him out. Ozy doesn't even fall from "grace."

Ozy, I think, genuinely believes he did the right thing. But also that he's sincere about being sorry for what he did.
Gah, I was about to start going all meta here, but I don't think this is the right place for it. (tl;dr: I agree, OP, I agree)

I guess that I defaulted to wanting to study in Japan because of anime- there really were no other countries I had any kind of interest in (and don't get me wrong, I still don't, that would give me an ALTERNATIVE to going to Japan, which would be nice), so Japan seemed like a nice, conformist choice with all my other weaboo buddies.

From what I can tell, fandom just gets bent out of shape when MSR is broken apart, and that's not what you're doing, so I wouldn't worry.
