106: This secret is love. The only het pairings I really ship seriously in this series are Thomas/Pandora and Freddie/Karen. The lake scene with Effy was gorgeous and all, but I spend most of Freddie's episode pining for more Freddie/Karen. And it delivered big style :D. I wish the fandom liked/cared a little more about Karen because I would so read that :(

You're right though, the Skins team seem like pretty big fans of incest. Tony/Effy is what got me into it in the first place, haha.

(Also, just to argue, they were promised no rent indefinitely when their old roommate bought the building, who was then reneging on their agreement in an effort to push them out of the building so he could turn it into commercial space and condos. I wish I could say this was either the first or last time I said this, but it's not and it probably won't be.

Way to miss the point.

They don't have any moral problems with paying their rent. It has nothing to do with them being artists.

What happened was their buddy married into a rich family, bought their building, and promised them they could stay there free 'cause he knew they were always strapped for cash. Then a year later he turned around and went "LOL J/K can I have the last year's rent now?" and threatened to evict them if they didn't come up with the money. Or else stop their other friend's protest.

I'm sure if Benny had said from the start, "Hey, guys, I can be a little lenient with your deadlines but just 'cause I'm your landlord that doesn't mean you don't have to pay your rent, y'know?" Roger and Mark would have dealt with it fine and managed to pay. The fact that he changed his mind and demanded a year's rent at once is significantly uncool.

105. Humans can't create; they can only combine. We're restrained by perception, logic and language. Narrative work is only an organized quotation of experiences.

Besides, you clearly missed the point in Gurren-Lagann. It's clearly a contextual work, but the content itself exploits this contextuality to make a point. It's a show about moving forward by using the past as a medium to create the future. Kazuki Nakajima is using old-school tropes to tell an all-new story about a group of people using the technology left by those that came before in order to reach a tomorrow all of their own. He used the concept behind Getter Rays in the same way Simon used Cathedral Terra. It is this clear sense of direction and purpose tying the narrative together what makes the show work on a level GGG or Getter didn't.

Besides, you fail for actually hating on Evangelion without trying to take into account its multiple directorial achievements.
