I guess it depends on how much you've extended the lie. If you've lied about college experiences or whatnot it could piss people off, but if you've just been lying about the number it doesn't strike me as a big deal.

AMEN.

I love Avatar but I hate the majority of the fandom(so I don't get involved).

Dude, two Psych secrets in the same post? Colour me surprised.

102. Props for the Lassie-love.
113. Your sister might have her opinions, but she should respect your opinions, too. After all, ships =/= big deal. =)

Sometimes I wonder if a massive makeout session in the middle of the SBPD is the only cure to Psych shipping wars. [/nonsense?]

107. That derrière, I KNOW IT FROM SOMEWHERE... it's not Lenneth from Valkyrie Chronicle, is it? Rose from Legend of Dragoon?

123. Which canon is he from, and is he anything but a random mook/member of a mini-boss squadron? Because I think he looks incredibly cool for some reason.

128. Oh so agreed. Madara is a scary, scary SCARY son of a bitch. Because he wants to show you his fingerpaintings after he takes over the world.

132. ... If those two actually manage to have a touching moment, I really need to start reading more Neuro because I have GOT to know how that is even possible.

146. ... Yeah okay, I agree. It may make me furry, yet I do agree: Rebecca Cunningham is one fine woman.

152. But how?

154. You may be terrible to your childhood, but hot diggity damn if that is not truth: their duet WOULD be fabulous.

t!b 4. I know neither fandom, but this secret makes me want to.

Han Zhang-Ching from Shaman King. He's one of the Big Bad's followers, so unfortunately he doesn't get a whole lot of screen time. He gets more appearances in the manga, but still not a lot. He's totally awesome, though.

[identity profile] ishosophy.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
117) And it really matters...why?

127) I never though he was ugly in either forms. In the comic, despite people going out of their way saying he was "ugly", I thought he was drawn like that to look the meek and unassuming Walter in contrast to the harsh Rorschach. In the movie, I thought he was gorgeous but still true to the original. This is probably just because I've always had a fondness for gingers and freckles. (Hey, I came from the Harry Potter generation. Red hair is in these days!)

I'm reading this site on a subnotebook. Colours are decent, but not exactly pristine. (It's otherwise a pretty good little computer, and I'm quite happy with it.)

Unreadable secret is unreadable. OP, you're not getting any comments because the background picture is too faded (in fact, at first I thought there was no picture, until I tilted the screen).

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. Please be kind to those of us with LCD screens, OP.

Re: 171

Uh, the background may be faded, but the text is really easily readable to me. If you have this much trouble with clear, readable black font on a white-ish background, it makes me wonder why you're not bitching about other secrets either.

149 - When I first got into BtVS, I never really liked Xander all that much. I didn't hate him but he never really interested me. He always seemed a but stock for me. Now, upwards of five years later, I think I'm starting to love him. Especially him as the 'human' of the group.

I'm really picky with the fic I read... or at least the fic I rec, but if you don't mind crossovers or Faith/Xander pairing (the genre is really gen with an occasional romance side-plot), I've recently found a fic that portrays post series Xander extremely well. He's matured, and responsible but still fun-loving, wacky and a bit of a clutsy goofball. I'm in the middle of the third story of the series and he has yet to grow any demon parts or untamable urges to sleep with anything that moves. Give it a try? You might start to love him again.

154 - O.O Oh god.

157 - Dammit. Now I'm going to have to do that too. XD

160 - I'd go for that. All of the secrets I've posted have gotten at least a few comments (never many but enough) but I imagine it must suck to not get any.

XD

It's funny that you should mention that fic, it's one of the few Xander fics I like, and it's one of my favorite fics period.

105. Um, no not unless the vast majority of straight dudes are sexist.

117. I lose all respect for you if you have an opinion about Ash Ketchum's season-to-season outfits.

134. Tell them, who would give a shit if you lied about your age to get into 18+ comms, it's not like 2 years is a big difference at that age.

139. Liking moe alone just means you have godawful weeabo tastes and need to get out more. It doesn't say much about how good you are as a feminist, but I'm guessing the fact that you need to ask that question means that you suck ass as a feminist (and knowing what feminism is in the first place. Hope this helps.

127.) I totally agree. I feel stupid and ashamed for fangirling over Rorschach, but, damnit, I can't help it. It makes me feel like a horrible, horrible fan. D8 He was just so fucking COOL in the book and movie, I just- I couldn't help it. >.>

[identity profile] luthienaogondor.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
As a side-note, I don't find him ugly at all in either the comic or the movie.

[identity profile] random00.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
131; You and me both, OP, you and me both. The only thing that got me through that movie was imagining the two of them having rough, passionate sex. Kind of ironic when you consider that I watched it in a military history class of 25, where, besides myself, there was only one other girl.

144; Honestly? Jesus. What is with people wanking over how long someone's been a fan of something. There are no better fans or lesser fans, because YOU ARE ALL FANS. Suck it up.

165; Stay strong OP! I am in complete agreement.

I only think it's dumb when people express disdain for anything other than het or gen or slash.

But I do wonder how people cope without a delicious variety. :(

Re: 170

(Anonymous) 2009-03-08 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly!

"I hate you!"
"I hate you more!"
...doesn't solve anything. I'm with you on the "delicious variety".

And I think it's dumb when people assume that liking either one means automatically having disdain for the other. (Not saying you do, just sharing a thought.)

Plus, I think Adama's atheism offers a balance.

So the color-coding instead of names is irritating anyway, but you get special points for color-coding and then fading the background picture so much it's extremely hard, where even possible, to tell which color is supposed to correspond to who.

104. Hey, Meta Knight's one of Nintendo's most badass characters. Sure he's a blue puffball, but that just makes his awesomeness both more awesome and hilarious.

117. Is this secret borked for anyone else? O_o All I can read is "If you think his Hoenn outfit is better than his Kanto outfit", and then it gets blurry and negatived.

131. Also borked.

154. Ow wow that would be awesome. :D

Not to burst your bubble, or anything, but basically, if you put a guy's dick in your mouth, as long as you don't hurt him with your teeth or something, he's going to tell you you're AMAZING at giving blowjobs because it makes you feel 'special' and keeps you coming back to give more.

If it's appropriation, it's appropriation of appropriation. Think about it, you're a westerner dressed as a Japanese person dressed as a westerner. If you just take the derivative of that... you're wearing cute clothes you enjoy!

Besides, a lot of the newer lolita-brand clothing is adorable no matter what part of the world you're in. The cuts and styles are classic, you could dress it up and go all out in that style, or dress pieces down and mix them into your wardrobe for an every day look.

The dress is your secret is really cute, and it'd be completely appropriate for wearing out and about in late spring or early summer.

I don't think anyone would have the right to accuse you of anything.

*just wishes she could wear cute things like that, but doesn't have the figure at all, le weep*

ooh totally. This was something like the first time we'd seen Tobi since the Big Reveal and it freaked me out, but it does explain why he gets off so lightly, if nearly everyone in Akatsuki knows who he really is.

[identity profile] sarolynne.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it like strawfeminist day, or what?

105 - The only way I could see that making you sexist is if your preference is fueled by some negative preconceived notions on gender. If you like het because it's "natural" for a woman to be penetrated in sex, but demeaning to a man... then you would be sexist. If you like it because that's your taste, then that's your taste.

109 - Way to not get it. You're not obligated to like all female characters. I'm not going to say that your experience has been the same as mine, and that no one has ever told you that if you hate any single female character then you're sexist. It might have happened, even if I've never seen it. But if it happened? Douche feminist. There are douches everywhere.

But I wouldn't exactly be surprised if you've been called sexist--because seriously, how you hate is pretty skeevy. Your complaints are very gendered. You pretty much just bragged about your confirmation of a bias. Yeah, I'd say that looks pretty sexist. And if it's not sexist... it's still pretty stupid.

139 - It doesn't make you a bad feminist. You are not a bad feminist if you sometimes like things that aren't feminist. You can even like things that are anti-feminist. I don't know who told you that was the case, or where you got that impression. Obviously someone did, and that's sad, because they shouldn't have.

You are a feminist if you identify as one, and even if you don't, you probably agree with the core ideas. You have an unfeminist source of pleasure in your life. In my own experience, that's normal.

(Anonymous) 2009-03-08 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yea, I noticed all the strawfeminists too and it's gotten a little bit ridiculous: I hang around with some pretty conservative folk (aka my family) and even they aren't so ignorant when it comes to women's rights. Are fangirl demographics just that skewed toward the stupid? :/

Pfff this is amazing and made me laugh out loud, because I totally remember that game. If I'm remembering it right? It was pretty intense and kinda high-stress to play, too. But there seriously needs to be a whole confessional for people to admit the stupid crap that scared them as a child. Because we as little kids were generally all dumb about something or other.

This is coming from someone who was pretty freaked out by Burger Time, so I feel you, OP. Hahahaha. Twitching eggs and hot dogs....

(Anonymous) 2009-03-10 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It really was. Things would always come after your marble, and it was pretty easy to fall off the edge. The thought of my marble falling into oblivion pretty much freaked me out bad. And that music, hot damn.

I've never played Burger Time, but I just looked it up, and I don't blame you - it does look pretty... weird. XD
