148. Ah me too.

There is a fic or two i would pay to see finished. they were really, REALLY GOOD.

*sigh* that is so sad.

As I've said before, I am as white as a very white thing, and I feel like I have a lot to learn. My general rule is that if thinking about something, no matter what it is, makes me uncomfortable, then I need to take it upon myself to learn more about it. Racism is one of those things, and so I'm trying. (Though sometimes it's tempting to tell everyone to sit down, shut up and listen. ¬¬;) But even though I'm trying to learn here, even I need breaks, because it's emotionally overwhelming and it would be very easy for me to walk away from it when it gets to be too much. If you're starting to reach that point, take a breather.* Spend a day reading, writing, drawing—whatever it is you do to relax, then dive back in with a refreshed mind.

I'm probably giving the OP too much credit. *sigh* But seriously, if you feel like you're starting to wear down and stop caring because it's exhausting, step back and read a book or something before you burn out. This is one issue it's not okay to walk away from.

(I hesitated to post this, because I know someone is going to call me on privilege, but I honestly think burn out is something that can effect everyone and we need to make sure on an individual basis that it doesn't cause the conversation to peter out.)

* Not from racism or thoughts on racism, but from the emotional posts. Keep thinking about it, and even talk to someone who's not going to get loud/upset about the issue if you can, but the yelling (even when it's necessary and absolutely correct) is draining for everyone. Just thought I'd clarify so no one calls me on being able to walk away.

144. I hope you read this, even if it is a little late and I REALLY need to go back to work...

I've tried all three of those, and I personally don't get what the big deal is with Naruto or FMA (then again, I didn't watch the series fully, just, eh). However, even in fear of sounding just like your friends, I hope that you'll give Avatar a try. There's much more to it then just a silly little show with kids that tweens like to ship like maddogs.

It tops every anime I've seen, but that's my own opinion. I hope you'll give that amazing show a try, even if your friends are driving you nuts about them xD

And I know how you feel, my sister does the same thing. It drives me NUTS. In fact, she DID the same thing with Avatar too. But she was very persistent, so I knew it must be decent. And alas, I don't think I can go back.

Best wishes to you. And, for the off chance that you might be interested, if you'd like a suggestion for just 1 episode to watch to see whether or not you like it (1 good episode can help you judge whether a series is worth watching), just say what genre you like and I'm more then happy to help. (goes to anyone else too xD)

This probably was just as bad as your friends huh? Eh xD <3

True story: my roommate asked me if I had written this. *facepalm* Damn you, Matthew Goode.

I normally just lurk and laugh at some of the shipping/I'd hit that posts, but this one made me have to post a comment.

I hope everything works out for you, dude. If I could send you a hug through the internet I would. I'm crap with relationships so I'm sorry I can't give you advice.

(Anonymous) 2009-03-16 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
108. so you lost respect for someone's opinions because their fic writing (whether it was their lacking or your inability to distinguish) is bad?

that's so loser bad it's not even funny. writers can be bad writers and still have valid opinions.

118. because someone having different tastes than you are stupid. gonna be lonely in real life. or boring if the few friends you have that you don't think are stupid constantly agree with you about everything.

119. IAWTS. I do the same thing.

129. ZOMG don't you know? it's a meaningful, relevant to REAL LIFE ISSUE THAT MUST BE DISCUSSED TO DEATH! and if you just want porn, well...go back to being the racist you OBVIOUSLY are BECAUSE YOU DON'T FIND IT INTERESTING !!!!!!!

129

(Anonymous) 2009-03-16 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
How about ... read porn until your vision blurs for all I care, but don't tell OTHER people they should stop doing what they're doing?

(Just thought I'd hand you the point. You dropped it.)

[identity profile] akai_senshi.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
107. Maybe you process information more easily on a screen as opposed to in a book?

112. LOLZ

114. Point taken. I should read "Our Dumb World" sometime.

119. It'd be funnier if you had Ceiling Cat on there. But picture is still pretty funny nonetheless.

134. It's okay; anime and manga in general has also helped my Japanese significantly.

144. I understand. I have shows like that too.

146. FRIENDS ROMANS COUNTRYMEN LEND ME YOUR REARS

159. How cute!

Sorry for being nitpicky, but isn't embarassment spelled with two esses?

Can't say I liked it myself. Disappointment.

I don't know how old this quote it, but here you go:
"At her book signing in Atlanta, Charlaine made it very clear that Harper and Tolliver are not related and her comments indicated that their will be romance between them. As a matter of fact, she stated that there will be an "explosion" in the next book between the two."

101. From happiness, I suppose?

106. Been there, done that. No wank.

111. Your Brain needs a Pinky. :-)

118. The only thing about the game that fails? Shirley's bangs, but you know that.

120. Read Sense And Sensibility And Zombies.

135. Protect your identity! People my age did that as a matter of course when the Internet first went public. Nowadays, it seems like nobody thinks to take any steps to protect themselves. :-(

138. Phoebe: "I'm very bendy!"

144. I have the same problem. :-( You have my sympathy, poster.

151. I bought it because I'm a Sega fan, but that's just me.

155. Bruce Campbell. Bonus points for the Brisco, too.

160. The fandom's off reading Sookie Stackhouse instead, I think.

163. There is profit in pants.

N!S1. Ever been to Tokusatsu DVD, poster? Great web site.

N!S2. Nero and Leon. Almost anagrams. Heh.

This secret breaks my heart. ):

I had really good friends in OW too, I wonder if I knew you. My name was "eekaroni". Everyone got their accounts frozen, if I recall correctly.

120- I didn't mind her review. Whatever; it's just a review. Plus, that was a cute novel. :)

Re-thinking my reaction to the WM secrets after seeing the movie

[identity profile] ayeayes.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
101. Wow, I'm not sure if I'd be as close to crying as I was if I hadn't seen this secret first :/ During opening credits, I was all "I see why someone cried!"

102. Meh, not much more than I have from single pictures. Also, the cat :(

107. I still don't see why people are mad at Dr. Manhattan for it. Seemed like more of a suicide than anything. (In the comic and the movie)

116. And before you could hear his accent?
Also, I didn't find him as much of a woobie as I thought I would when I read this secret. Strange, because I felt my mind was woobie-fying every character horribly :/

115.

[identity profile] ardixusi.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
I know, I know. It's kind of an end of an era, eh?

129

[identity profile] miss_prince.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Incredibly late to the party, but I agree. I don't really agree with the way you put it, but I've been purposely avoiding meta_fandom for a while because of this thing.

[identity profile] pyro-ike.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
107: You're not the only one. At least that part of the movie made more sense to me! It just made the book's ending even more morally ambiguous.

107

[identity profile] nekokatsu.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Same same same. The comic was amazing, but holy shit when Kovacs yelled like that in the movie, I fuckin' balled.
