Speaking from first hand experience (even though we never got to perform it): The only thing they've edited is removing the song "Contact", and removing the more serious explicit language. Productions can decide whether or not to let the same sex couples kiss. The edits came directly from the Jonathan Larsen foundation.

107. Part of what threw me off about the movie is that Rorschach comes of SO much more sympathetic to me in the movie than he ever did in the comic, and that scene demonstrates that perfectly. As I've said to various people I've discussed the movie with, I...kind of wanted to hug movie!Rorschach at times. Which...is strange.
