119 - Wow, I've felt the same way since I was 12. Lately, I've kind of been forcing myself to get over it because I know it's insane. I'm just glad I'm not the only one anymore.

124 - OH MY GOSH, GO FOR IT! I hate RPF because I think it's weird and stalkerish, but if you write that, that is one RPF I will happily read and pimp out! In the words of Nike, JUST DO IT!

136 - Good luck.

138 - I totally agree! I shipped them so hard, but in the end, I was kind of glad they didn't get together because it would been kinda cliche for all of them to hook up.

165 - I've never seen it. What's so bad about it? Is it totally re-written and edited?

107. 113. 116. 122. 141. 144.

[identity profile] kinosino.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
107. Well when I read the novel, I interpreted his tone of voice as more toward anger than the sadness you hear in the movie. I like both interpretations - but only the movie made me cry.

113. FUCK YEAH TOPH/ZUKO \o/

116. Nah, it's totally the hair. Also, the movie suffers from a severe deficiency of DOUCHEBAG GRIN.

122. I feel ya. My IRL? Boring as fuck. Fandom is something lots of people can enjoy!

141. Better than me - I had a crush on the cartoon version of Ace when I was a kid. [facepalm]

144. An informed decision is best - if you try 'em out and decide "eh, it's not for me", then you'll know for sure. Otherwise it comes off kinda "bleh what's so great about Elvis anyway". And they're your friends, after all - they probably like the same kind of stuff as you, right?

I had, and still do have, a crush on the Mask. Movie and cartoon version. <3

I fucking feel your pain. I always get the same two people doing it to me, too. And if I post more than one thing, the faves are barely seconds away from each other as if they didn't even read what I wrote. And fandom/original/whatever doesn't seem to matter either! It's so damn frustrating!

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
101. Oh man, I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I just...I don't know what it is, but the sheer joy I felt all throughout that montage... the only thing I can think of that was like it was the first time we hear "Concerning Hobbits" in FotR. And that doesn't make any sense, becuae LotR was so important to me, and Watchmen is just something I've read and enjoyed. But it was just so perfect in every possible way.
And also, I've had "Times They Are A'Changin'" stuck in my head for days.

107. It didn't affect me the same way. It was always a rough scene to read, just how mad he looks by the end of it. Maybe it was because Haley got to drag the lines out for more than two panels. Or that broken whisper of "do it" the first time.

111. Aw. Well, maybe that's like us single folk writing romance fic.

112. In what way is this fandom?

115. Gah dangit, no more BNL secrets, you're going to make me cry! Aren't they still staying together at least? I mean, aside from Stephen. ...whose voice was basically made to be singing with Ed's...

116. I actually find him a bit more woobie-ish in the book, just because of his final scene. There's something so blind to it all. But I never much cared for him.

130. Mm. Now I'm wondering how you liked the first ep of Season 3. I'm kinda crushed, actually. (But it was sooo awesome). I thought he got some freaking sweet screen time, but me, I've loved him since he fired up his vocal processors.

131. Ugh. Hate that.

142. I'm sorry I missed him. Though, um...other guy whose name I can never remember is cool too..

144. Nah, you should tell 'em. My friends do. It doesn't exactly stop me from the incessent babbling whenever I'm really hooked on something, but it at least makes me a little more aware of it, and makes me try to keep ahold of myself.

(Anonymous) 2009-03-16 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
130. I feel like you. It was soooooo awesome, but it really crushed me. More than just Blurr's death- everything with Ratchet and Omega Supreme, Sari's horror realizing she was going haywire and everyone else's horror that resulted from it. Yes, the episode really crushed me. No, I did not feel happy watching it because it was devastating and depressing, but I was happy to watch a really great, emotional story.

I THINK SHE SUCKS!

Not going to lie here but...really?

I did like Legendia but it could have been awesome. I just liked it for the characters. Yes, the main story plot was a bit 'wtf'? I think they should have used the CQ with the MQ. But then again, that would be hard with the way the plot was going but ANYWAY! I didn't understand why they suddenly decided to switch Shirley from being the main villain to Nerfies. Huh.

And, while I RP Shirley, I did kind of want her to shut up. >>;

[identity profile] thememusicc.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
107) I think the criteria for being a bad Watchmen fan is watching the movie and not reading the comic, so I think you're covered. Either way, the scene impacted you.

114) You know there are people who think the Onion is serious? It's mostly the political cartoons they make, though.

125) I'm not sure why, but recipes from fandoms are especially awesome to me. I think it's because they're conventional for the most part, except for one part that clinches it as something unique of the character, like say, vanilla in mashed potatoes. Incidentally, you should totally try vanilla in mashed potatoes.

139) He's a wizard. There's no other plausible explanation.

141) Instead of shipping them based on the actor, since they appeared together in the cartoon, you should ship them based on their VOICE actor. That gives you a whole bunch of other options; Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, Raphael from the Ninja Turtles, Arthur from the Tick...

141 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-03-21 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't ship them because of their actor, I ship them 'cause there's something about them that just seems to click. I just think it's a little strange that they're both based off of Jim Carrey, and imagining the live action versions of both of them interacting is worthy of brain!bleach due to the, er, identicalness of Ace and Stanley? XD

158. I'm excited as anyone else about this film, but I'm already planning on withdrawing from the fandom, at least for a little while, once it comes out. I want to protect my sanity from the deluge of wank and Mary Sues that will almost certainly ensue.

SERIOUSLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. It was so much more emotional in the movie. In the book I hardly felt anything!

[identity profile] maledicta-d.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
107. That's the power of having an actual human reaction. The Watchmen comic does provoke emotions, but it's a little too cartoony to have the same effect.

108. I've had this reaction. In my case, I think they're a good writer, they've just become lazy. What seemed so special years ago in one fandom becomes lame in another fandom, seeing as it's been the recipe for most of their fics.

116. Baggy purple poncho FTW!

136. Awesome! At the very least, it's a lot of fun and some helpful advice.

139. It's the lack of moustache, his hair, and probably his diet. That, or he's got superpowers.

141. Oh God, my childhood. They would make the loudest animal noises in bed. What disturbs me is that the mental image was automatic.

133: It wasn’t that bad! I saw it with a bunch of friends who all hated it. I definitely liked it most of all of them, but I’m still figuring out exactly how much. I still found it quite enjoyable, though (which I’m almost ashamed to admit to them).

138: Agreed. It’s like they were MADE to be together, but if all six of them had happened to hook up with each other...ew. Joey was MADE to be a bachelor.

141: I...I can see it.
But maybe that’s just because I also have a crazy ship with Ace, too, so I'm just ship-happy. But they could work so well for each other. I just have no idea how Jim Carrey would make that work. o.o

161: I thought her name was Olive. o.o And wasn’t Pushing Daisies cancelled?
But I can see it working. The writers just probably won’t let it happen. He’s far too into Chuck.

Hey, I know what you mean. People should be more respectful of the opinions of others, should listen before talking, should do a lot of stuff. But I think it's part of human nature that a lot of people will first go for the trying to shut someone up by whatever means necessary before dealing with him or her. Also, I think it's human nature that people will generally attack what they don't like before thinking about it. Nearest I can recommend is to grow thicker skin and improve your debating skills so you can at least send some understanding of your point though their panic.

102: Top part of this secret? MY LIFE RIGHT NOW, WHAT THE HELL.

123: Plenty of people did humorous literature and film about wealthy but weird/fucked up families before AD; I'm sure there's still space for yours.

I have a giant PotC poster, and autographed pictures of Levar Burton, John Barrowman, and Gareth David-Lloyd in my room. I FEEL VERY MUCH THE SAME WAY AT TIMES.

Strangely, I don't feel this way about the pictures on my book covers, or my figurines/statuettes...

I fear that too. Then again, the only Spock for me will always be Leonard Nimoy, no matter how good Quinto is. I have high hopes for Simon Pegg as Scotty, though. (Trekkie, much? :P)
