Oh, I'm a Brisco County, Jr. fan, too! Lord Bowler, tho', was my favorite character. But the whole cast was fun. I miss it and which it had been longer than a year. They had a wicked sense of humor.

Comics!Ozymandias, I felt, was a drop unsure of himself. Movie!Ozymandias gave me the impression that there was no doubt in him of the... righteousness of his plan? Not exactly sure what to call it. Comics!Ozymandias had more layers to him in that respect and is more interesting to analyze.

I do really like Matthew Goode's look, though. It's a departure from the comic, but it serves its purpose and, well, it's MATTHEW GOODE. *nom nom nom*

FMA has been out for so long the fandom is a ghost of it's former robustness. But if you enjoy being involved in fandoms that your friends don't care about, well, that's easy enough to do -- in fact most of us find it kind of depressingly common problem.

101 - The opening credits were maybe one of my favourite parts of the entire movie.

111 - I think it might be, actually. I hope you work your way through that.

129 - I don't even know what Racefail '09 is really going to achieve. You can hardly say it's getting in the way of porn, though.

131 - I think they do actually like your work. I know I've had to stop myself from favouriting every single thing a few people did because I loved their work so much.

I felt the same way when I first heard. I kind of went through that day in an incredulous fog. How could they go on without Steve?! He was part of what made the band so awesome.

But you know what? I saw them live Steveless last Saturday and they still rocked it. It was a little different, but they're still the Barenaked Ladies that I've been listening to since I was eight.
Don't despair. Go listen to some of their early stuff and remember the good times.

129. I stopped reading two posts in; I've never thought of writing people that are not exactly like me as "the Other." It's ridiculous, and I don't want to know who coined that term and made racism/sexism/whathaveyou worse. :| I think what made it worse for me was that a lot of the people were actually talking about how to write and tackle "the Other," and it is just "LOL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU."

Rules of writing:

* If you write PoC as just like people you know, you are whitewashing them.

* If you write PoC as people who have different experiences, you are othering them.

* If you write something with no PoC with it, you are excluding them.

* If you write something that upsets PoC in one of these ways, you are not allowed to ask how you could change it, because PoC are not your personal writer's workshop.

The only conclusion, basically, is never to write anything if you're white, because white people have written enough stuff and it's time the PoC got their turn.

113. Toph/Zuko kicks inordinate amounts of ass and I started shipping it by complete accident. Don't be too dismayed (though I never did want Zutara, so I can't relate much there).

119. My old room at my parents' house once had walls plastered with movie posters; when I first got them I felt incredibly naked with all those eyes staring at me (though my Darth Maul poster creeped me out the most). I eventually got over it/accustomed to it, though.
