I feel like an elitist when I hear of all my friends who didn't bother to read the comic went and saw the movie. And then they liked it. They looooooved it.

I definitely never wanted to feel like a nit-picky elitist. B| I didn't care one way or the other because six months ago, the trailer is what got me to read the comic. Now I'm so "dnw" over other people liking it. I think that they're wouldn't understand it because they haven't read the comic.

Of course, you can get all your information online nowadays, but...

141. I started RPing last August and I'm five to eight hours ahead of everyone else in my RP. Granted, we're a small group, but the time difference thing hasn't caused us any problems. As for story consistency, I'm just lucky to be part of a group where people really care about building up the story, the characters and their world; maybe you'll be lucky too if you try it out. Sorry you had such a bad experience when you were 13, though... that sucks.

I've never really been in that kind of situation, but I am one of the people who got into Watchmen because of the film. I'm reading the comic now but.... if it helps I got and liked TDK.

Honestly? It's okay to be one of them to an extent. You kind of get it in the Doctor Who fandom with the Old Schoolers and the New Schooelers. Neither is really better and we mostly get along but the oldies kind of.... have a status that us New Schoolers don't.

The problem is when the new fans who are coming in with the influx don't even try to understand or look at the original text, mouth off at it and disregard the history of the fandom I suppose. Even the more genuine newbies tend to look down on that lot so you lot, the original fans, have EVERY right to feel the way you do.

And there are some who hadn't heard of Watchmen before the movie, either because it's not as big where they live, they don't hang out with fans of it or they aren't usually comic book readers. Saw the trailers, got interested and went 'ooo!' before looking into it further.


Just so long as you give us a chance before you scorn us *g*

122: I'm fairly anti-Zutaran, but I can imagine that a even a lot you Zutarans think this is nuts. For one thing, it's possible to get the rivals (Mai and Aang) out of the way without horrifically killing them, or making them the "bad guy"... Give them other love interests, have them nobly step aside (I could definitely see Aang doing that), have them fall out of love with the other person ("Sorry, Zuko, I've decided I DO hate you."), whatever... Sheesh...

61. Aside from -one- thing I can think of, the only reason there even was drama in the first place was because a bunch of people decided that she was ruining their fun for some reason. I don't even get it. My memories are of her being happy, mostly harmless, and pretty level headed. Things didn't get bad until it seemed like everyone was against her. Well, I agreed with her but everyone attacked me so I shut up.

101. I think a lot of people who roleplay on a regular basis have this problem somewhere along the line. There's one character I have in mind that kept saying things in my head, or, responded to what was going on. It was hard not to start acting like them, because the character felt so much more interesting then I was. I think part of it is an outlet for your emotions, and you just get wrapped up in it, and have a hard time letting go. I wish I could say something that would help, but the only thing I can say, is try another fandom or a different character, and focus a lot of your energy into them too. If you can do it, and enjoy it (sometimes it just takes the right creative push), then it will also help you become a more rounded person, and more capable to unleash your emotions in interesting ways.

I don't know. I hope the best for you, but just know that your not the only person thats happened to. In fact, I can channel the thoughts of almost every character I roleplay so well that I confuse myself nowadays. Hm, maybe we're both insane.

104. OH PLEASE. Don't let that comic and the wank surrounding it ruin your creative endeavors! When it comes to how much the fandom 'hates' a ship, I think people get very confused. They aren't looking in the right places, methinks. There are loads of people that like Sokka/Azula (me being one).

The fandom can't hate you for writing a halfway decent, believably ic fic about those two. Seriously. They'd love you for it, or at least I would. They have great potential, and if you have a good idea, go for it. Someone will read it, and even if they don't give the best crits, you'll at least be writing, which means you'll get better naturally!

Don't let wank keep you from enjoying your fandom. :D

107. You know, the more I think about it the more I think I might be asexual. That's a tl;dr convo, so I'll skip it and say 'It's probable that I am'. However I love shipping like there's no tomorrow. What a lot of people don't see when it comes to shipping, is that it doesn't have to be about the sex. (In fact, to me, 95% of the time it's not) It's about the way the characters interact with each other (to me at least), and it's the dynamics that they have when together (romantically or not). That's why my otp (icon xD) don't have to be together in my head. I'm sorry that you have such a hard time with that, but people are just ignorant. Hopefully SOMEONE will have gotten a wake up call with your secret. :D

122. Fans turn into hyenas. They'll take whatever they can get xD So since it has pictures, and follows ...sorta, a story, people will naturally be happy that they have something new to look at. Heck, I read the whole thing. It's still a piece of crap, but I haven't read 200 pages worth of a shit!tastic comic smiling so much in my life. :D EVIL MAI WILL KILL YOU.
