I am also not giving them any money via clicks or views - I would watch via pirate sites but the time zones mean all matches are in the middle of the night for me, so I just read about it on a news site instead. I think that's a pretty reasonable compromise?

Oh, and never go to Qatar, I think everyone's on board with that one. This is Qatar trying to whitewash its reputation and become a tourist destination, and I really think that side of it has flopped.

Bold of you to think that Qatar has been trying to "whitewash" anything. They're being unapologetically "bzns as usual" to the detriment of their international reputation even. Would be nice if they were trying to pretend they're not that bad. But FIFA has to make political choices and violent countries are still countries. And international politics is a lot deeper than "let's cancel that country because I don't agree with its politics".

Having said this, the World Cup has been fun so far! The "name of the BL?" exchange in particular is my favorite so far.

It was clear since their Brzilian fiasco. The people there protested but they didn't care. It's also places a huge load on economy. Would be much better to have it in different stadions across the world. Otherwise it's just like Brazil. One time spending spree, new hotels, corruption, placing a load on already strained economy, right down the drain.
I'm also sure that people at the helm recieved enough bribes that they don't care about OP's actions.

All but the first winning bid of this century were proven to be corrupt. And even the Germany one probably was, they just don’t have a huge digital trail proving it.

Every time this comes up on FS I think at least half the people don’t know that everyone from FIFA involved in these bids is lone gone from the organisation. I don’t know that it’s gotten better but there’s great potential for it since Russia and Qatar were so highly publicised plus Sepp Blatter being so massively disgraced.

I think they could have changed Russia but maybe not by the time they realised they should. They absolutely SHOULD have changed Qatar even before those poor people were killed. Their blood is on FIFA’s hands.

Honestly, any big sports event in the past(ish) decade makes me recoil because they're all shady and they do so much damage. Not just in the sports industry but local communities these big world events are the ones who pay the price especially. Amazing we can bring people together in the name of sports, but at the same time, these organizations that run these events are selfish and exploitative.

I still watch it on Fox/FS1 though. It is the beautiful game afterall :') I feel terrible knowing the human rights violations that went into this event, see rapists being lauded as heroes for scoring goals, know that locals and marginalized folks in Qatar are fighting for their very lives as we enjoy the games....I'm just another cog in the murder machine :'(

Times so they're asking everyone not to play Wordle or any other games or read the paper at the website. I'm suffering Wordle withdrawals already.

I loved Silent Hill 2 but I've been out of the fandom for quite a while and I hadn't heard about this. And I don't know anything about Bloober.

I watched the trailer just now and it looks OK visually? Maybe if I were more of a purist, or even more of a gamer, I'd be more upset, but right now I'm not.

I still don't have a PS5 though, but maybe I will by the time this comes out.
