Oh balls MY CHILDHOOD...this was one of my favorite shows in high school. The first fanfic I ever wrote before I even learned what "fanfic" was.

Unfortunately, all that fic is in a bunch of spiral notebooks. They predate the internet. Maybe that's why you can't find fic, secretperson.

Who makes a big public deal about them? All the stories have warnings and most people who do talk bout them do so in flocked posts on their journal or in communities for that. The only time people talk about them in a public way is in retaliation to secrets like this.

Believe me, I have no interest in making a bid public deal of my fantasies, and most of mine are tame.

I don't think the OP is talking about those people. The OP is just saying that people who have those kinks shouldn't use "your kink is not my kink" to belittle the experiences of people who have had those experiences and are horrified at the idea that they might be a turn-on for someone.

tl;dr You have a right to your kink but someone else also has the right to be horrified that it's your kink, especially if the very idea of it is triggering for them.

I totally agree here - fandom average age will vary by fandom.

I count myself lucky and everyone I've found so far is cool with people no matter what their ages are, so it's never been a worry of mine.

Also, I kind of love large age differences because then there can be a sort of mentor-relationship going on. I have some friends who are 25 years older than I am, and have been great for talking about RL things I might not feel comfortable talking to my parents or aunts and uncles yet, and they have RL experience to go off of.

So I say don't worry. ♥

I think it's more the idea that everyone should be OK and not judge anyone's kinks or have bad feelings about them ever because they're someone's kinks.

I've seen people go crazy on someone who said that they absolutely couldn't wrap their head around a certain kink being sexy/arousing because it was triggery for them. The response to that was pretty much "GTFO it's my kink and you should stop being so judgmental." Except not as politely put.

I do. I do not, however, relish the insanely whiny wank that inevitably occurs whenever anyone complains that someone else is judging their kink. I am not one of the people with the triggers or whatever, but I do think that there are better responses to someone's saying that a certain fic/kink/whatever bothers them for a certain reason than to get all bitchily defensive and snotty and dismiss their issues out of hand, which tends to be the usual response. If my right to get off to something controversial is supposed to be respected, then your right to not be traumatized by my loud publicization of said controversial thing should also be respected. There are generally no thoughtful discussions on this topic, merely people going "THIS TRIGGERED ME" and/or "STFU DON'T JUDGE ME".

I used to think this way too, anon. I'm not a fighter, and I just don't have the survival skills to survive outside a civilization with microwaves and working plumbing - I even fail at camping. Most of all, the whole idea of zombies terrify the ever living hell out of me. Dead things coming back to eat my brains? NO THANK YOU.

And then I remembered...I can outrun them! =D

Now it's not so bad. I just make sure to go for a run every day, to stay healthy. But it helps me delude myself into believing I could survive. They can't eat you if they can't catch you, and I've got a bike I can carry/hop on with little difficulty. XD
