Speaking as someone with zero interest in having sex:

How is rape worse for asexuals? Asexual people have no interest in consensual sex. Sexual people have an interest in consensual sex. Nobody has an interest in being raped (rape by definition is not wanted) - and "rape fantasies" meaning "rough sex that the fantasizer actually wants anyway" don't count.

Saying rape is "better" for sexual people is like saying getting stabbed in the face is "better" for people who practice sexual masochism because they "like" that sort of thing. Any time. Any where. By anybody, without consent being given or anything. That's how it works, right? Right?

So I suppose a straight woman being raped by a man is "less bad" than a gay woman being raped by a man?
By that logic a gay man being raped by a man is "less bad" than a straight man being raped by a gay man. A gay woman being raped by a woman is "less bad" than being raped by a man.
But a gay woman/man being raped by a straight woman/man is "less bad" than an asexual being raped.

I can't continue listing all the combinations and working out which one is "worse" than others. JFC that is such a stupid secret. Gender and sexuality don't matter for the victim - rape is BAD and UNWANTED and they're ALL HURT BY IT.

It's different for everybody, but as an asexual, my personal experience with my abuse was the opposite. I have no ties or connections whatsoever to sexual contact, so when I was raped, it was the same to me as being physically abused in any other way. It was horrible and uncomfortable but other than that, I was strangely okay. Most people seem to not be so lucky. I'm assuming my almost nonchalant reaction to my assault is because of my asexuality.

In any case, I want to echo the other commenters here by saying your assumptions are vastly untrue. Rape is rape is rape. Orientation doesn't matter. Sometimes connection to sex does, like in my case, but as a whole, there is no telling which orientation has it "worse." It's not really about orientation. It's about being violated in a horribly savage way.

Rape is not "worse" for anyone. People who are interested in sex aren't interested in being raped, that's why it's called rape and not sex.

The only thought process I can see backing up this statement is the theory that, by enjoying or wanting sex, you are asking to be raped or that on some level you enjoy being raped. And I sincerely hope that's not what you're saying.

How a person responds to trauma is a highly individual and personal thing- for one person, rape might be the absolute worst thing; for another, it might not affect them as badly as would torture or as some other form of abuse. It's entirely plausible for an asexual character who is raped to have their trauma made worse because of their orientation or to interpret their experience that way, but it's also plausible that an asexual character might not be much more rattled by rape than by a non-sexual assault and for them to attribute that to their asexuality. And even for two people who are equally traumatized (in as much as it's possible to quantify that in the first place), the ways they deal with their trauma may be completely different.

You can listen to individual people's personal accounts in order to be able to write your plot more genuinely and sensitively, but you shouldn't go from there into making broad generalizations about 'who's got it worst'.
