1. ... who the hell looks at iPods anyway? I've never had anyone ask me what I'm listening to.

11. Don't friend me. Ever. I don't need people like you around. Find a fandom journal or something. Some people have them.

16. It's inane how people get mad at girls for something they have NO CONTROL OVER. Other girls made fun of me for my ridiculously FLAT chest when I was younger. Boobs. Some have them, others don't.

20. The world is drawn to mediocrity. It's pretty depressing. Not saying there's anything wrong with anime styled art, but that other one -- just WOW.

23. Wtf are you me? XDDD I do that too! (now it looks like it's my secret ohjeez XD)

24. I don't know the show, but it just looks dumb to me. :( (so says the avid fan of Gurren-Lagann)

27. ... I want smut dreams :(

28. Er... they just come to you? Sometimes it takes a long time, but the best things to do are to be active on your friends' posts so that people will notice you, and be active in communities. Stretch threads out with other people. Basically, be all over the place, people notice you, and then they friend you. ♥

24. ....way to take a comic show way too seriously? Haruhi is cool. Mikuru isn't being "sexually assaulted," she's too weak to assert herself and Haruhi's taking advantage of that, as Haruhi is like to do with anyone. If you really think that's so offensive, I think you missed the actual point and message of the show. Come on.

[identity profile] dots.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Plus, um, Mikuru wasn't actually raped, nor did the guy actually want to rape her!

12: I feel the exact opposite. I love the games but hate most of the fandom. :\ I do agree on compilation being overkill though but I can't help but fangirl over all the pretty graphics/pictures. ;_;

13 & 16: We should be friends, like nao plz. TOTALLY CONCURRED.

1. I work with a couple nerds, and those who aren't know I am. I don't care. :)
7. That's me too. RP is what keeps me sane and (sometimes) alive.
14. I've tried so hard to get into some American animated shows, to be a part of their fandoms... anything... or even some American live action shows so I don't look like a Wapanese anime fanbrat (seriously, my anime/dorama fandoms far outweigh my American TV show fandoms), but they're either geared at tweens (High School Musical, Drake & Josh) or get canceled before the fandom can pick up (The Loop ♥ R.I.P.)... but this About a Girl show coming soon on The N looks good. (I got bored last night and watched a Degrassi: The Next Generation marathon...)

4 - The fandom confuses me because I've seen more people hate Suzaku than Lelouch. I'd thought Suzaku was the more likable and "human" of the two.
5 - Could somebody be a dear and tell me the fonts used? Especially flowing, scripty one.
22 - I agree. I love mishmashing languages, but only if people know what the hell they're talking about. 日本語はおもしろいですね~ (I'd say something less basic but my skills are slipping.)
24 - ....I was thinking about watching Haruhi, but that makes me far less eager to.
28 - Go to communities and start commenting. Interact with people. If somebody seems neat, friend them and talk on their LJ (might want to ask first, some people are touchy.) It can be weird and awkward but just try it out.

Huh, mixed about this secret. I do agree that I loved the epilogue, despite the fact that the names were pretty bad, but a lot of people didn't, and I respect their opinion as long as they respect mine. :) Of course the people being obnoxious are annoying, but an opinion itself is not necessarily obnoxious. (Although some of them are, like the people who are mad JKR didn't write in their OTP - why does she owe us that? And so on.)

Re: 25

[identity profile] planecrashdream.livejournal.com 2007-09-03 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree with you. I think people should be able to say what they think, if only some people didn't say it so annoyingly.

But I WILL say.. I ship non-canon, and it's hard being constantly pegged and put in a box with what you just said about "people who are mad JKR didn't write in their OTP". Seems like if you don't ship the ships at the end of the book, and you don't like the epilogue, that MUST be the reason and get over it. when that's not the case. I didn't like it because I thought it was cheesy and unnecessary. I actually would've been MORE upset if she'd written that epilogue with MY OTP in it. I just wish I could just dislike it without having people say, "you're just mad blank and blank didn't hook up blah, blah". You know? I'm sure you get that.

24. I don't lose respect for people who like the show, that's just kind of stupid. But I do agree with you concerning Haruhi. I don't see what's so amazing or unique about her. I honestly find her annoying. :l I also don't see how the show itself is funny, either. OH WOW HARUHI SURE IS WACKY. If anything, Kyon is the only amusing person.

1 - I used to care but then one day I discovered my friend had batboy the musical on hers and kind of stopped caring. There is a lot worse you could have.

4 - Suzaku deserves your love. Hasn't he suffered enough? D: Who's left to love him now?

25 - It was bound to happen though. Before it even came out, I knew people would slam it. That all started a few books back. Personally, I thought it was fine. I cringed a little at some of the names, but it's her book, she can't cater to everyones tastes, it's impossible. I'll add myself to the non-bitching list.

24. I watched that episode for the first time today, coincidentally. That's a series I enjoy, but after that scene, I just thought, "Why is she viewed as such a spectacular character whenever she's making some guy fondle her supposed friend?" It doesn't really make a lot of sense...and I feel sorry for Mikuru afterwards, too. ;__;

Re: 25

And there are a lot of people offline that love it. I haven't talked to anyone who didn't myself. I'm sure non-fans exist, but she can't make everyone happy.

If you haven't seen it then either you've not been reading many posts at all or you've been turning a blind eye. One look at an icon community or one of the DH communities will give you plenty of bitching.

I hate to see her getting bashed for that reason, more than I would in Matsumoto's case, because Orihime is innocent about it and kind of likely to have been harassed herself by her own classmates somewhere in the past.

It's really sad. I fell no one will EVER sympathize with us. :(

4. Code Geass is fun, but it's a show of all the popular cliches that's hot in Japan right now. That said, Suzaku is someone they actually did an original, interesting take on his archtype and pretty much the only ACTUAL CHARACTER in the show. I'm flabberghasted that apparantly he's hated?? HE'S THE REASON I KEEP WATCHING. S-sob.

16. I ignore it as best I can because if I'm allowed to I wouldn't be able to stop arguing ARE YOU BLIND OR DO YOU JUST NOT GET IT but honestly that'd be a much more embarrassing route for me. Eck.

24. Touchy subjects are touchy subjects for people, but just as you would like to be respected for DISliking that scene you shouldn't alienate/hate people because they DON'T find that scene offensive. Seems a bit unfair to lose respect or hate people because of their preferences when you are seeking to be respected because of yours. :o

24 OP

(Anonymous) 2007-09-03 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I never said anyone had to respect me for my opinion. You're welcome to disagree and disrespect my opinion if you want to.

When I say that I lose respect for people who talk about Haruhi like she's cool, that loss of respect comes out of me being very upset by people who passively take in the very negative self-important example she sets and hold it up as 'great'.

I don't refuse to talk to those people or flame them or anything, but it dissapoints me and makes me think less of them. I wish I didn't feel that way at times, but I just do.

My secret is largely in reaction to the friend that told me I was 'too sensitive' and 'clearly had no sense of humour' when I told her that I was offended by that scene and Haruhi's behaviour in the series on the whole.

She bascially treated me like I had no right to my opinion on the series and it's an additude I've sadly encountered among many Haruhi fans.

If I sound like I hate every Haruhi fan on the planet, sorry. That's not what I meant. I just can't stand the fans I know that can't shut up about how amazing Haruhi's character is and oh she's so cool and if I think she sucks than I clearly don't know what I'm talking about. =/

[identity profile] ccmars.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. 99% of hentai out there is rape, and shoves the message that women are nothing but dolls that should obey a man's every command down the viewers' throat. Even if there is a woman in charge of the whole thing, that doesn't matter because she'll be raped and humiliated eventually. Punish the rapist?! How DARE you!

I think I have only found maybe two hentai shows that DOESN'T involve this plotline somewhere, and I'm having a hard time remembering what they are. =\

So there was this one field trip in school where I decided I might as well bring my mp3 player. This one girl came up next to me and wanted to listen. So there was this little "ohnoidon'tthinkyouwantto" and "ohyesido" thing for a while. She finally did get to listen. Awkward silence. Never bringing my mp3 player to school again.

I hated the epilogue. As a matter of fact, when it came out on the internet, my friends and I were CONVINCED that it wasn't real because JKR's writing, while down-hill book 6, isn't that bad. Needless to say, we were wrong, sadly.

I don't like it. I think it reads like a 12 year old wrote it, and if you don't like the bitching about it, don't read it. If I want to make loads of bitchy posts about my hating the epilogue (which I haven't) or make loads of sarcastic icons about the epilogue (which I haven't), I will, and that is my perrogative.

As far as I'm concerned, the only good thing to come out of the epilogue was the fact that I can now ship Harry/Teddy.

Get over it.

What really bothered me were the names. I mean, could we sound any more Mary Sue-ish? The epilogue read like bad fanfiction to me. And yeah, book six and book seven really just didn't do it for me. I get that people like those two books, but damn if I ever will.
