AHAHA YES. Again with the squeaky shoes. (I actually once dug up the data files when I played Ragnarok, and changed around the bard's Frost Joker quotes so that half the lines he spouted off for that move were Kung Pow quotes!) You win ♥

This I understand from a fan's point of view, but not from the creator of a series. As long as people pay for/promote/fuel your creativity, you have little to no right to criticize. You should be thankful if anyone actually spent their time and money on your work in the first place, rather than try to nitpick your own fanbase. Variety is a part of fandom. And really, why does it matter? Your canon is still law. It always will be.

1. KUNG POW!! ♥ That movie is amazing!~~
"From this moment, I will stand for the opposite of badong...gnodab."
XDDD Ahhh, good stuff.

10. I'm 17 and I still love that show. (well, the first two seasons anyways) I'm sure there are many fans out there older than I.

8: I remember that time. I hope we read each other's fic back then. (Incidentally, my best-known fic ends with the scene pictured in your secret....)

9: I think I want to, too.

15: I don't think that's all that uncommon. Why do you think people make anime-based extensions for existing RP systems? I remember deciding how all my favorite chars would end up in City of Heroes. Lina Inverse, a fire blaster?

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
15. Almost all of my OC's are created in City of Heroes/Villains, these days. XD Kind of unrelated to what you're saying, but I just love that game. .__.;

Hey, I love me some Potter too, and don't give half a shit about the rest of the kids' book series that are gaining adult followings.

But--and I hate to break it to you, but obviously someone really needs to--it's not the Greatest Written Thing Evar OMG. Deal.

srsly. Orwell, Asimov, Vonnegut, Bradbury, motherfucker, do you read them?

1. HELL YES TO THAT MOVIE!! I LOVE THAT MOVIE TOO! I always hoped there would be a sequel.

12) Shikabitch Shikabitch Shikabitch. :D And I have yet to see anyone come up with a good reason why he was "justified" - bawww, my master was killed (even though it was actually him that attacked first and I supposed Hidan was just supposed to sit there and let himself be killed or just kinda shrug and go "oh well, that guy just cut my head off, but that's okay, I'm not gonna kill him"), boo-fucking-hoo. I don't see anyone saying that Sasuke's revenge is "justified", and his whole damn family was killed out of plain and simple cruelty instead of, y'know, IN A BATTLE WHERE YOU KILL OR BE KILLED.

16) UH, people have different tastes, y'know. Just because you don't find a character interesting doesn't mean that no one else will either. And it's not like it's any skin off your nose. Gawd.
(And yes, yes she is.)

38) Okami secret! ♥♥♥

5. Funnily enough, Haruhi's one of my favourite anime female characters. I don't know why she gets so much hassle. She's smart, wonderfully cynical and sarcastic and toys with the cliches of gender. She's great!
And mucho love for Izumi too

#7-related: lol@everyone in comments going "zomg HDM > HP, they're not even on the same level, stfu noob!" YES THEY ARE ON THE SAME LEVEL. Childrens' book = childrens' book. You fail at literary elitism.

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
IAWTC so fucking much, just as HP is corny in places and can get more than a bit cheesy at times, so does HDM, there are parts like with the mulefa when it's painfully obvious that it is a children series.

[identity profile] evilbo.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
7. Is it too much to ask that people start judging books based on their own merits? I'm not familiar with the Stroud book, but I know enough about the others to know that none of them deal with teenage wizards in a boarding school.

You can't compare novels like that just because they're in the same genre. Whether they're 'better' or 'worse' is very much a matter of opinion. I personally don't care if I can't change yours, but the fact that you've decided to make other people's opinions matter so much in the first place is really stupid.

15. I used to do this a lot. I even got my hands on a few of those old Guardians of Order anime fanbooks just so I can see what stats they had written down for the main characters (and lol sorry, GoO, but I don't agree).

[identity profile] slatterly.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
15. OMFG I DO THAT TOO. (Mostly with GURPS and Tri-Stat, tho, DnD classes never work out for me.) I love the ridiculous point values everyone ends up with. THAT'S TOTALLY AWESOME, I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME.

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
5. I'm the exact opposite of that person, my favorite character is always [with a few exceptions] the female lead.

7. Twilight is pretty boring, I'll give you that, but HDM is awesome, I love Harry Potter and it's been my addiction for years, but that doesn't mean I'm going to shun all other books. Did you really try it and hated it?, because if you did it's okay, but if you0're simply refusing to read them out of some sort of twisted Harry Potter fan pride then you don't know what you're missing.

25. Sakuno love, ♥ seriously I need at least one female character on any fandom to get into it, if there are only men and not a single woman/girl I simply can't watch/read.

And she's so sweet and terribly shy I just want to hug her.

Regarding 7

(Anonymous) 2007-10-02 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I really did try to read them. They bored the heck out of me. I never finished them. And despite what people keep thinking, I'm NOT saying "OMG Harry Potter is teh best thing evar!". I'm not. I enjoy a wide variety of books, adult lit and children's lit. I love Peter Pan, Alice's Adventures, and Narnia. I love them all. The problem is really with newer children's books. They're all so boring....

THANK YOU for not jumping down my throat like everyone else on the comments did!

Gawd I miss watching that movie. I hope they have icees! ♥

[identity profile] merienem.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
7. Perhaps they aren't better than Harry Potter, but you're in no position to judge them either way, being that you've never read any of them. Perhaps you should actually give them a try? Even if you don't love them as much as HP - well, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll hate them, right? The second-best YA fantasy in the universe probably isn't a terrible book, after all.

10. Me, too. <3

12. I don't pay much attention to Naruto fandom, but damn if I don't love Shikamaru. I had no idea he got so much hate - that's a shame. I think he's cool, anyway. :) But then, I'm super behind on the manga, sooo...

23. Interesting. Go for it! I'd read it!

35. I agree. An interesting post-show interview with the show's writers went up on Titans Tower a couple of weeks ago - did you ever read it? They did talk a bit about that episode, and it was pretty interesting (but, I admit, not too satisfying).

37. Woo, WK secret! Weiß Kreuz was my very first real "fandom" back in 1999. It's a shame to see that it's overrun with badfic, though I suppose it possibly always was and I never noticed, being 13 at the time. Still, if nothing else you'd think people would try to read the manga before writting fic, you know? It's not that long and it's very pretty - and I'm sure scans of it are available somewhere, to boot.

Anyway, sorry to see that you're not having a wonderful time in the fandom. I still have really fond memories of it.

35

(Anonymous) 2007-10-02 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah but I was really disappointed because it mostly boiled down to "That episode was about the SHOW not the characters. So quit asking me about character portrayal, it's dumb. And I'm not telling any of you WTF happened, I like watching you guess. :D"

24.)

[identity profile] cftf.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I couldn't disagree more. If I ever got my own original works published, I would, as a creator, get such a KICK out of people being so passionate over my story and characters to write 'fic about them. Even more so if they got it right. It would thrill me so much if it ever happened.

[identity profile] rilani.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
1. YOU DON'T NEED TO LIE. I LOVE IT TOO. <333333 (WEEEEOH WEEOH WEE)

9. I'd like to, but the whole "growing wings" thing still creeps the heck out of me.

21. O hey is this sum "I lose all respect" sekrit?

22. Its not a fandom. It isn't. Its an answering machine. Answering machines don't have fans.

29. Is that... Zelos/Kratos? uggggh. UGHGLHGHLGH.

21 OP.)

(Anonymous) 2007-10-01 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Not all respect, nowhere NEAR "all respect."

But honestly, refusing to take their explicitly-familial bonds into account shows me that they somehow completely missed the entire damn point of those two characters' relationship to one another. And it's not like it's an obscure point to miss. So yes, I do lose a bit of respect for them.
