Nah. Nah. He was in the thing, it's natural he's going to defend it, and in any case, he's entitled to his own opinion. Disagreeing with him doesn't merit telling him he's a horrible fuck, or whatever.

But I think the best part of this secret is just kind of slipping in the "anyone who liked STID or defends it is clearly an idiot". I mean, I didn't like the movie, but come on, people are allowed to like it. Especially the part about how it "insults the intelligence of the fandom" (presumably in some way that The Final Frontier or Generations or Nemesis or Insurrection didn't) - it's almost like you're some kind of butthurt fanboy, or something.

I love Star Trek and I enjoyed STiD; I say it loud and proud.

Oh, I dunno, maybe because some of us ENJOYED IT FOR WHAT IT WAS?

I hated the K/S crap in teh film, but I adored what we got of Bones, I loved the action, I, dare I say it, loved Khan, and I adored Scotty. Also, Uhura's badass moments.

It was a fun movie.

Now, I have no idea what he's said about it and the like, quite frankly, I don't give a shit. I just liked the movie.

So piss off.

Well, of course he's going to defend it. It's his livelihood. He might get the chance to sign for a few now ones. There's a lot of ass-kissing going on in entertainment. If he dissed the film, he might not be asked back. Adding to that, actors experience films differently, as they remember the fun moment on set and don't perceive the story as fans do.


Often actors only criticize after they're done with a franchize (cfr. the guy who played Pinhead in Hellraiser).

After defending Star Trek Into Darkness, he lost my respect. Pegg is nothing but a butthurt fanboy and a hypocrite.

Star Trek Into Darkness insults the intelligence of fandom. It may be financially successful but that doesn't change that it's still be terrible either way. In short- fuck you, Pegg.

Why fans paid so much to see this garbage is beyond me.

I'm a fan of the original series and the original cast movies.

I loved the reboot & I love Into Darkness. I understand why some people don't like them & for the most part, I agree with the assessment (not enough focus on characters, too much focus on action, I get it, I do), I still enjoy the movies. Could they be better? Hell yes.

Me liking Into Darkness because you hated Into Darkness does NOT make me an idiot or a bad fan. It makes YOU sound like a whiny, entitled, 5-year-old who just wants everything their own way.

It's fine that you don't like something other people like, but get off your fucking high horse & grow up. That's the way the world works.

Because it was entertaining garbage...? I don't even think it was really "garbage". It had issues - huge ones - but it was engaging and well-paced and fun to watch.

I suppose you don't know this, but actors are kinda unofficially required to shill the movies they're in. It's generally considered a pretty big dick move and rude as hell on their part if they don't.

Well yes of course he's going to defend the film that he worked on and the franchise that gives him a regular(ish) paycheck, he'd be silly to utterly trounce it.

Personally I enjoyed ST:ID until about halfway through(I still think that the first half is a fun sci-fi action romp in space) but it lost me at the Khan reveal and even more so at flipping the roles between Kirk and Spock at the end, I don't think it's THE WORST(tm) but I was a little disappointed by the end.

Everyone freaked out about this, but c'mon: if you were part of a project you enjoyed and everyone was shitting on it, you'd get upset too. I have nothing to say on Into Darkness, I still haven't seen it, but give the dude a break, he gave us Shaun of the Dead, etc.

If you were getting the amount of $$ Pegg was, and all you had to do was promote the film you're in that allows you to make the films you really want to make as a director/producer...

... you would do exactly what he did.
