I doubt it's just one of them but I also don't think its that many people. There are some very obsessive antifans.

Getting stuff done? Like evading his taxes? Which he's in jail for?

Original anon you were talking to - sorry my wording apparently wasn't to your liking.

How many writers do we have here anyway?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Cassie Clare thread made me curious.

That's because there isn't any evidence of either. From all accounts, she's not a very nice person and was something of a "queen bee" back in the day (I was also in HP fandom at the time she was at her height) but she's not a sociopath nor did she plagiarize in her public works.

I was referring more to dinogrrl's confession that she "may appear bored, rude and ungrateful"--seriously, if you know that's how you come off, why not take even a tiny baby step or two to come off differently? If a person expects all the effort to be on their friend's side, then yes, that is selfish.

I find a great variety of bums cute. I currently engage in mutual bum-squeezing with one bum exclusively.

Hilariously, I am a short story writer. I've had more than one (bestselling!) novelist tell me that they envy my ability to write "short," while I stare at them in befuddlement from my tiny stack of semi-pro sales.

THIS. I don't like her as a person but the level of vitriol has me disgusted. Her petty fandom crimes just don't seem worth this hate to me. I find her detractors far more offputting these days than anything she did.

I've read a lot of slashfic where either getting together with Watson solved the whole "my mind rebels against stagnation" problem, or where Watson finally threatened to leave him unless he gave it up.

I've also read a couple of darkfics where Holmes would only give up cocaine if Watson put out for him. Which, given the canonical end of The Sign Of Four, is actually not that OOC.

I've also seen the idea Holmes got genuinely addicted to it (as opposed to using it in an unhealthy but still recreational fashion) during the three years of hiding from Moriarty's circle, and Watson begged/browbeat/out-deduced him into recognizing he had a problem with it and allowing Watson to help him kick the habit.

Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever read a fic where Holmes willingly approaches Watson to ask him for help getting clean, though.

AH!

Yoga Pants

I do a lot of work at the campus Starbucks. I also do a lot of goofing off. During busy periods the table I'm able to get is usually near the line. I'm 5'4", so my sitting eyeline is at approximately butt level.

There are a lot of girls in yoga pants and it is difficult not to stare. I like butts.

I get on AIM and tell my boyfriend about this. He laughs at me.

Plus I'd be incredibly dismayed to learn that an author whose works I enjoyed was this petty and obsessive IRL so I'm almost glad that the OP isn't bothering to try so I won't have to risk it.

If your trying to sucker me into some weird devil's advocate argument about Hiram it's not going to work. I just feel we can observe the mans flaws without bringing unrelated racial features into it. Your like one of those people who has to emphasize the presidents middle name every time you speak ill of him.

Have you ever actually been to Desert Bluffs? You probably just decided it must suck just because their sports teams won a few times against our boys.

I actually have to go their for business. And you know what? It's delightful! There's tiny people there but they don't open fire on you if you stand still too long in the street or otherwise look vulnerable. They actually are very polite and great with directions.

And yet there's still plenty of blood around when you need it. More so then Night Vale, to be honest. Strexcorp's really done a great job there and it's wonderful that they are coming here. Maybe you can say that we are indeed better then Desert Bluffs soon, there's going to be some good changes around here.

my friend and I have a story that was an original setting AU. It actually followed the canon up til the finale and diverged from there. It had the characters in a new place, facing new challenges. I made it canon central and devised a goal and arc for every member of the group. I decided I wanted this story to confront things about the characters that the last season missed.

When I posted it I was fretting that people would hate it for sure, but I was surprised when people seemed to like it. I even showed it to one of the people who ran the ____-Sues communtities in my fandom (because they seemed to be a good fair giver of critique ) and well they seemed to like it from what I showed them.

To date it's one of the stories I've enjoyed doing the most, really. Even on days where I don't feel inspired I pull myself through writing a bit for it.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
that's why I said she has every reason to be upset. :/
I'm not saying her friend's actions were right by any means.

This. There is writing for a professor and then there is writing for the real world.

I always hated Cassie Clare (and was attacked by one of her sidekicks to the point I had to dump my old fandom ID and start over) but every time someone makes stupid fat jokes about her I hope she earns another million dollars from her shitty books. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ ka-ching!

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Yeah, that's kind of annoying. Could maybe be fun in some contexts, though.

I saw that already. The Cecil was really nice and then I saw the second part and was like, "Oh this will not go over well." So I skipped away down the tags.

It describes a part of the Night Vale tumblr fandom. There are other parts and most of them are just as bad.

Also, it's tumblr. There are other places on the internet for fandom.

For a moment there, because the GIF didn't load properly for me at first, I thought you were suggesting that the answer to anon's question was Ursula. And I was about to say that I would totally buy any book that Ursula wrote.
