I think the pilot was abysmal but it has been getting better each week. Once they figure out how to get the characters clicking the fandom should settle down. Even if it doesn't just like what you like OP and try to ignore the haters.

Wrecking Ball is a great fucking song. I really, unironically think that it is a very good pop song. It's not shitty oh god i'm turning into a Miley stan send help

I just got Pokemon Y and I don't know if I want to play as a boy or a girl. The girls are adorable and I bet their clothes are nicer. On the other hand, if there's an opportunity for me to ship someone with the PC, I'll want to play as a dude.

I know it doesn't really make a difference but. Indecision for the win!

I also thought "Yay, something is actually happening" - and then they basically retconned it in the newest episode.

Also, I'm not sure I'm happy where the last episode was going - I get the feeling they're trying to include some fanon things about Cecil into the canon and I really wouldn't like that.

To be fair KLK has had four rapey situations that were played for laughs in the first two episodes. Not cool.

You're definitely not alone. I have really enjoyed it. I expected it to start slowly, I was willing to live through early iffy characterization and character blandness, and I'm really pleased that it's already starting to firm up, that the main female character's rounding out and becoming someone I like watching, that Ward is definitely not the main focus, that the stories are becoming better paced - and this is only after four epis. I was a little sad to see a pretty ivory colored team, but it's not completely homogenous. And COULSON! All in all? A definite B in my books, and it has a lot of potential for heading higher. I feel like yelling "Patience, guys!" to fandom sometimes.

Most people are hating on Wrecking Ball's video, not the song. In fact I've mostly seen people admit they like the song, complain the video ruined the song, and in one case I saw a confession bear meme where OP was ~ashamed~ to admit they'd liked Wrecking Ball when they first heard it on the radio, before they saw the video.

I have to say I seriously doubt it's the music or her voice garnering the negative attention.

It's not saying much if your show's fanservice is far more progressive than this other shows; it's a dumb concept to begin with.

thank you for describing exactly why i have a hard time with this show.

(although the current music does suck but that doesn't mean classic rock=conservativsm. One John Lennon is worth more than a million Miley Cyruses and Gagas as far as I'm concerned.)

I'm really sorry you're having a rough time OP. It's going to be tough on you and your mum for a long time. You should see if there is a support group for carers in your area because it might help you cope to talk to someone about it. The most important thing is to take care of yourself no matter how hard or selfish it might seem.

Should I be watching it. I saved the pilot, but I haven't watched it yet, because I'm getting increasingly disinterested based on the promos alone. At first I was kind of interested in Alice and her kind of Return to Oz-y crazy town story, and she seems like she could be awesome but I'm just not sure I give a shit about her romance with a genie. In fact, I'm pretty sure I don't, and that seems to be the driving force of the series: rescuing her beloved.

And no, I'm not going to start liking the trope just because the genders were flipped.

I always mistrusted rollercoaster constructions and I'm always wary of power tools and trucks with flimsy looking security - and for good reason. It never hurts to think about how squishy and easily damagable we humans are as long as you don't let it control every aspect of your life.

what bothers me about the FD movies is the implication that it's wrong to save someone's life.
