Jude Law comes closest, IMO.

... Now all I can think of is that scene in Moulin Rouge. "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE, WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC."

Agreed.

Turkish Delight is like a cross between a gummy bear and a Jello cube covered in sugar. I haven't tried one though. Only seen them. But I hear that you can never go wrong with freshly made ones that are rosewater flavored.

+1

It's plausible that they realize those issues are inherent in the films but they enjoy them anyway, OP. It's possible.

Diane from Poltergeist, Lynn from The Sixth Sense, and the title character from Dolores Claiborne, an incredibly acted movie (Kathy Bates, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judy Parfitt, a young Ellen Muth) a lot of people haven't seen.

AYRT

Oh my, thank you so much! This worked perfectly! (And who doesn't want to pretend to be Canadian?)

Thank you!

Last thing I made was a lemon cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. Ended up being a little crumbly in the middle because one of my cake pans is old and sucky and I had trouble getting that layer out, but that issue was neatly fixed by adding yet more frosting.

I don't know if I'd say it's my specialty, but I've gotten a lot of compliments on my triple chocolate mousse cake.

I love my cats. They absolutely love attention. They prance over rub against my leg and meow. I'll try to exercise on the floor and they'll just come over, lie down and roll around next to me. They jump onto the couch while I'm on my laptop and climb on top of me and just stand there blocking the screen and just purr, or curl up on my arm and chill while I'm surf one-handed.
Cream always wants to play with the feather toy on a stick, and he'll pick it up and carry it over to me so I'll play with him. Howard will casually try to to have a taste of whatever I'm eating like the chub he is.
And when they're both lying on a bed in each other's arms- Howard cleaning the Cream's face, both sleepy and content. It melts my heart.

You seem really unhappy about not being able to fuck animals.

Aunt May, and don't you even try to tell me she's not a mom.

We haven't had snow this year, it's not been cold enough for it really, but we are getting almost constant rain and another big storm is headed our way. So yay for more flood warnings.

Your guilt might be magnifying things, but she shouldn't be getting in your way. Is she an employee of the store? If not, a complaint to the staff about her behaviour might fix things. They certainly won't want customers being driven away.

Good point. While it's still very white, post 1989 Disney has given us a lot of different colors and cultures of people. Arabic, Native American, Hawaiian, Black, Asian, and brown-with-white-hair-and-blue-eyes-so-who-knows? characters.

This is giving me an image of hardcore fans standing around a stasis tank in a laboratory trying to make the perfect Sherlock Holmes.

Ooh, I'm loving the colors and his look in the first one.

And the last one's really cute!

I honestly fear that this might be the best thing I've ever written. A Garth Marenghi's Darkplace fic written in the persona of a completely sincere Darkplace fan from 1986.

I wonder if anyone ever asked kids what they take out of these movies or if grown ups just like to make assumptions on the problematic messages they see in them?

TBH I saw Pocahontas a few times as a kid and 2 messages marked me: 1) colonists are assholes and 2) being a hothead is bad. There was the normal "be kind and listen to others, see the good in people, don't be a warmongering villain..." Disney messages but they were much less memorable. Pocahontas was not better than the rest of her people, she was just different, and maybe wiser for looking to solve a conflict through discussion rather than war. John Smith (IIRC, the blond dude) was, on the other hand, clearly portrayed as superior to the rest of the colonists (his people) who were obviously self-serving and evil.

As I said, this is not an adult analysis, this is what child-me understood from the movie. It kinda contradicts what adult-you says children understand from the movie, so I wonder if any actual children were ever asked these questions of if your statements are all entirely theoretical assumptions?
