42...wot.

48. Everyone I know who's watched Trigun wants Vash for a friend. I think it's pretty much a standard reaction XD

61. Oldschool > Newschool. I still play my N64 games because none of the new stuff even begins to compare =/

[identity profile] kxo.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
6. AHAHA, I'm such a huge elitist asshole for getting hung up on the fact that you're a psychotherapist-in-training. I was like, "Psychotherapy?! ಠ_ಠ..." (See icon for more details.) But OP, you make a good point. I have see people here accuse secret-makers of being nuts, though.

21. ME TOO. But I still love it.

36. WANK WANK WANK WANK WANK INTERNETS R SRS BZNS. How is this one even a secret? It's just trolling.

6 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
I must admit, that icon filled me with mirth.

I'm not much into behaviorism, though; Skinner pretty well popularized that. Give me old school psychoanalysis any day (er, post-Freud, of course). I like cognitive psychology, too.

I'm a pretty chilled-out fellow, as I believe the vernacular is. As for being a minister, well, that may as well be water under the bridge. It doesn't even get you a free drink at the local bar and grill, ESPECIALLY when you started out as a minister of a town of less than twenty people.

My goodness, I just let my mouth run. Sorry about that. But the idea is, I don't see any "nuts." There are some oddities, I will say, but they're all caused by very human, visceral things.

37. THANK YOU!

Come back when you can say "Lots of other JRPGs... that are not done by Squaresoft!" THEN you'd have something to complain about. :D

61.

[identity profile] seifaiden.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Big dirty SNES JRPG fan here, although I would categorize "old-school" more like Atari, Commodore 64, Colecovision...that kind of stuff. In terms of RPGs? NES and Master System /END OLD-SCHOOL WANK. But yeah, FFVII != old-school by any stretch of the imagination.

...and no, for the record, C64 and Colecovision were before my time (I'm 24).

ALSO: Big ups for the Megaten screenshot. I'm sure you know this, but by cutting out a plastic tab in your SNES, you can play SF carts (more detailed directions are easily found online).

I used a heated knife on mine and my 500 yen Chrono Trigger SF cart works like a charm - when you get to Japan, check used CD/book shops, they're there too (speaking of which, good LORD at the Dragon Quest carts - how many of the things did they make?!).

36. Not again.

SECRET OF EVERMORE! :D :D :D

I have been playing that since I was like 9, and I still haven't beaten it. And I still want a Toasterdog, damnit.

NAAAANAAANANANANA KATAMARI DAMACYYYYYY.

That's all I could think of.

But...um...I played N64? Diddy Kong Racing was my childhood? Yeh?

61. Final Fantasy series is over rated. Square haven't been the same since the take over and are now milking every cow dry.

[Add 5000 word essay on how Square now suck, and how I miss them making good games.]

Sorry Leone but that secret made me lol.

32, 39 LOL HP SECRETS

[identity profile] inuyatta.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
32 - See, I loved H/G since book one and I saw it coming...and when it finally got here, I was glad at first to finally be canon, and it shut up all the harassing rabid naysayers in the fandom. Then I re-read it. And I found the more I read it, the less I liked it. And finally, I couldn't ignore it anymore--the execution of H/G was not done very well at all.

But I figured it was ok, it was supposed to be dorky, and it'll get better. I mean, Ginny is going to prove herself to us since we've been getting hints and allusions to her power via JK's interviews.

And then DH happened. Ginny didn't.

I don't think I ever forgave JK for not delivering what she promised.

39 - Same. I really feel like somewhere along the line, she saw how much money she had and said 'Fuck it! I can do whatever I want and people will pay for it because I'M JUST THAT AWESOME!'.

I'm happy with the pairings. I'm crushed with how TERRIBLY they were written.

Re: 32, 39 LOL HP SECRETS

'Fuck it! I can do whatever I want and people will pay for it because I'M JUST THAT AWESOME!'.

Yeah. Kinda makes me think of the Beatles in the later years. Not that they weren't awesome. Just that they'd throw things like "Revolution #9" and "Why Don't We Do it in the Road" in with the good, because hey, they were famous, and half their fans were probably stoned enough to think it was brilliance.

You seriously sum it up for me. Actually, at least one of the pairings really bothers me (and some of them I wish she'd just shut up about--the future pairings and all), but H/G and Lupin/Tonks always seemed sweet and cute to me. They just...sucked in the execution.

41. I showed my friends that episode, never had them watch one before or after it, never explained any of it, and they still bawled. And I want a yellow car, dammit. I will never recover from that death otherwise D;

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Why is everyone saying 36 is a troll? If anything, I'd think the secret they're responding to was a troll.

[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
18. Bah, I can't take secrets like this about Vic seriously anymore. I don't like him nearly as much as I used to, but it's almost like it's in vogue to bash on Vic.

44. GLEN KEANE!!!! <33333 I'm not an animator, but I love his work, particularly the transformation scene in Beauty and the Beast. It's gorgeous.
I wouldn't worry about that, though. He may be an avocate of CG animated movies, but John Lasseter is an advocate of HAND-DRAWN movies, even if he's known for creating a huge CG studio! It goes both ways. What Glen's doing for CG animation with Rapunzel is excellent--and how Lasseter is bringing hand-drawn animation back with upcoming Disney movies and shorts is also excellent. Between the two of them, I think both styles of animation is going to see some great work in the coming years.

32. Couldn't agree more. I don't even understand her personality. First she was all timid for what, most of her life? And then she turns fifteen and it's Spunky Miss New Ginny. I mean, I know people come out of their shell and all, but really? I can't recall her doing anything in the series that would tempt me to like her. *cough* Now DRACO on the other hand....

48. Total win!! I can't even tell you how much this made my day. I'd completely forgotten Trigun even EXISTED, but I totally agree with you. I used to be obsessed too. The guy's awesome. ^_^

60. Oh sweet Jesus. You're so not for real. xD

60 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
WHAT. I AM TTLY 4 REAL. I AM INSULTED.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
41. ME TOO. I cried so hard and my family thought I was crazy because of it. But was so sad. And then stupid fucking Miaka let Ashitare steal the shinzaho and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I understand the feeling exactly.
I can't watch the episode either.

48

[identity profile] shadsie.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, are you me? Seriously - I feel the same way. Vash is... he's my hero. I don't think I'd want him for a boyfriend (I'm already happily engaged, thank you very much), but he would make an awesome friend. Also, I think this world could use more of his way of thinking.

#56

[identity profile] dynast-harmonia.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed- though I did watch the whole thing. Then again, the only reason I actually picked up the book was because of the show itself.

[identity profile] legit.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
61) Did someone say old school Megaten? Now I must check out this love letter game...damn you OP *shakes fist*

[identity profile] norinoricat.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
56. I COMPLETELY Agree! I tried the anime and I liked it but it's got nothing over the book

28, 56

[identity profile] slylilgoblin.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
28. Ahaha, Frankenstein is the worst book I've ever had to read for school. Just. guh. Flat-out heinous

56. YAY! I've always been bugged by that, but everyone else on the planet seems to love love love it, and I just liked the source so much more... Truthfully, I couldn't even get through half the show, because the huge differences were way too much for me to deal with. Even though it's gorgeous, and probably a lot of fun if you aren't a lit nerd like me XD I'm so glad I'm not alone!

Re:56

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
I really hate attitudes like this. "lol I'm such an intellectual 'lit nerd', I'm too good to like an adaptation."

Shame you're missing out on a wonderful version of the story just because you can't get over yourself long enough to appreciate it for what it is.

50. Stevie Ray Vaughn

[identity profile] jazz-glass.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
41. For me, it was Chiriko. He was barely given any screen time, and then he got the most heart-wrenching death I've ever seen. I didn't miss school or anything, but it's probably one of the hardest cries over a tv show (anime or not) that I've ever head. But yes, Nuriko was very sad. =(

[identity profile] jazz-glass.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Woah. Page eleven. That's a first for me. What time is it? Eheh.

Hmmm. I appear to be late to the party. But I feel inclined to comment anyway. :P

28. In my experience (as an English major finishing her 5th year of university education), there are two kinds of "classic literature." There's the works that actually exhibit writing talent or interesting plots/characters, and there's the writings that are "groundbreaking" in some way or intentionally deviating from reader's expectations of that time. It's the latter that often ends up being a boring or annoying read.

I still am somewhat proud of the fact that I avoided reading Frankenstein even though it's been assigned to just about every freshman English course, because I attempted to read the first few pages of that book on my own and it bored me to tears. However, I kind of like Henry James. And Nathaniel Hawthorne. And Wordsworth. The vast majority of my classmates hate all of the above, though they tend to complain about nearly every reading assignment... causing me to question why they're English majors in the first place. I don't get it.

33. Joe Lando. <3 Okay, not in that role. (Not even sure what that is.) But Sully was totally my first crush. :P I mean, on an actual man and not a little boy in my elementary school class or something.

41. Ahhh, Nuriko! Count me as another person who was deeply affected by his death. So depressing. Also, I choose to believe that he didn't "turn straight" for Miaka. I think he just felt very strongly toward her as a person. (Ehh, I haven't really watched that episode since I first saw it, so I could be wrong and maybe Watase clearly meant for Miaka to make him "realize" he wasn't really gay. But whatever. It seems like a cop out and I mean, come on... for Miaka?)
