16. I think some people think I'm just being too patriotic when I say this, but the Union has the best leader in the show by far. I'm always so sad when I watch me some fiction and start thinking that the fictional American President is cooler than what we've really got.

56. Oh, I prefer the original as well. But by god, Gankutsuou is fucking gorgeous, and really phenomenal. In terms of adaptions, I think it was a pretty decent one, because although the liberties it took are somewhat more than I'd have liked, I still think that on it's own it stood as a good work.

It's hard to get into games that were made before you were. I know. I grew up with the original FF1 and Ultima series on the NES, but I could never touch the stuff from the early 80's like Atari or Commodore RPG's. It's generational. Sometimes you'll see younger crowds getting into cult niches that bring you back into your youth - whenever that happens, I smile. It makes me really, really happy to hear the generation below mine talk about the games that I grew up, mostly because it lets me know that the passions that I felt from them won't be lost in the wake of the ZOMGGRAPHIXHIDEFINITIONFIRSTPERSONSHOOTERPRETTY! (i.e., attention span of a spork and half the intelligence) generation of gaming.

I know what you mean. I find it hard to get into anything pre-SNES, and if it wasn't even on the NES then I haven't even heard of it. My older brother is totally batty about the NES DQ games, but I found them to be such a grind.

13. I thought he was too! I was just... Gah. "Oh my God, most badass girl ever. Yay, good female character in this show does eventually occur!" AND THEN HE'S A... HE. I mean, I don't /mind/ that much but god, it would have been very cool. Though of course, the more emotional one being a girl could potentially piss people off. (Course, I think L having been a girl would have been a great early-one twist and a nice change, which I'm sure many people would WTF at.)

36. Same goes for using screencaps then? ANY official image? Does the fact someone was employed to make it change anything? Er, no. I could explain how I personally think it's OK to use fanart (it's not just 'it's teh internetz' I swear, I do genuinely think it's important to remember that internet or no this is artwork...) but I fear that I'm too bad at explanations to clearly get it across...

Martha, much as I adore her, was consistently jealous (though considering he almost said 'Hey, Rose was better than you, you're useless' in TSC I don't quite blame her.) while Rose was jealous for half an episode and then really just looked like she was happy he would be able to move on when she left IMO. Same here! Even though he's one of my favorites, I still today am disappointed he wasn't female. A girl like that would have been a great addition to Death Note. Maybe it would have been an interesting enough concept that of the people that stopped reading after L died would have been intrigued enough to read on...?

13. I'm worse. When I was younger, if a cast was 90 percent male or 90 percent female, I would gender switch some of my favorite characters, to even the playing field. This led to a male Sailor Mars and a female Rattrap. They were actually pretty badass.

28. "Turn of the Screw" is still completely terrifying for me, it was the mind-screwing novella. Stephen King's short stories freak me right out too, but honestly, longer novels lose the tension. Maybe it's more the length of the work, then?

28. Honestly, it was the prose. Turn of the Screw just made me feel stupid as I would constantly have to stop and re-read passages two, three, or four times. I was so stuck on the text that I couldn't get into the story at all - and it didn't help that I thought the protagonist was a total nutjob from the get-go.

I don't know if all the other students in my class are just sucking up to the teacher or if their interest is genuine, but aside from me and like two other people I know... everyone's crazy about the reading list. I feel like a total outcast. D:

I didn't even try, it was just the most WTF?! pairing in the history of EVER, one day Ginny is all "let me show you my spunk, my new personality let me show you it, it's spunky" and Harry is all "Ginny-who?", the next Harry is is 'magically and suddenly' so in lurve he can't see straight and Ginny tells Harry she really has no defined personality, that it was all because of him. A starstruck fangirl without a mind of her own, that's all Ginny was.

Guys, that is a secret; I personally would never feel confident in LoM fandom saying that considering the attitude in the places I've been to it. I fail to see how it's not a secret...?

See, his love was pure and everything...but he couldn't move on. He ruined his life because he wouldn't move on. It wasn't that he "didn't give up"...he never tried looking for Akari. Akari moved on. I have a hard time knowing which one to admire more.

11. Oh god, the last thing I need is another pairing to look for that rarely exists. God I ship anything and everything for Gundam Wing (except for 1x2, which sadly is what the majority is, but oh well) But oh my gosh, yeah I totally support 2x4, and I support taking a literal 2x4 to the fandom.

41. God, Nuriko's death destroyed the series for me. Actually, not really it was Nuriko dying and then Hotohori marrying an effing look alike. That bothered me. I could understand Hotohori not being gay or whatever, but did he have to marry a woman who looked like Nuriko, talk about throwing salt on an open wound.

Yeah, I don't have very nice thoughts about FY together, the most tolerable characters (Tasuki, Nuriko, Chichiri) either die or get very little screen time.

I'm equally tired of the hate, but what I'm really tired of are the double-standards. People who like Martha better and hate Rose call Rose up on the lamest things, like "she had to be dragged away from the Doctor." I've lost count of how many times I hear this one, and all can think is..."I'm sorry, and that's bad?" As I recall, Jamie, one of my favorite companions, had to be dragged away.
