6. Oh, how marvelous! But I kind of have a fetish for really nice guys ... if you're even a guy! You could certainly be a woman, too, I guess! But ... huh. Well, it's a great sentiment. <3

15. Oh Heart of Darkness. My AP literature class hated it so much we barely talked about it at all.

28. It seems that classics are important because they were ground-breaking or significant in some way. I'm not sure being likable is one of the prerequisites. ;~;

60. He makes the most marvelous faces.

I am male, if that's what you mean, but I appreciate your sentiment. You seem like a pretty nice guy yourself.

Ada was a nice change from all the damsels in distress who needed saving every 5 minutes. Oh noes, how dare she save and outsmart the male lead once in a while. The whole point is that she had the balls to double-cross Wesker. ;) I love him and Leon as well (moar Billy too plz), but I'm sick of senseless female character bashing in this fandom.

And what's all this about tits? She's like...a B cup at the most. She doesn't even show cleavage in the game. Funny how she gets singled out when a much bustier Jill got paraded around in a tube top and miniskirt long before RE 4. Speaking of which, is that the only RE game you've played? Sure sounds like it.

53 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Wrong on that one, tiger, I've played them all. And what damsels in distress are you talking about? Jill does nothing but get rescued, sure, but how about Claire and Rebecca (in 0, anyway)?

And at least Jill's skirt was SHORT. I can't think of a single reason why Ms. Wong needs a prom dress for her super secret mission except for eye candy purposes.

18. Thirding the homophobe/pretentious asshole/epic fail bits. He is the reason I hate the anime with a passion.

20. Zima in general is made of so much win.

46. I don't think she's written anything lately, let alone KuroSaku. She's also the one who got me into slash/put me on the path to discovering homosexuality =/= evil while I was still into YGO, and while there are better writers I'm not picky with my porn/fic.

That being said, I loathe KuroSaku with a passion and if ANYone tries to pass it off as even remotely possible/genuine in the canons I won't hesitate to MST it.

Personally though, I think there are worse KuroSaku shippers out there than her. Particularly this (http://ca.youtube.com/user/KuroxSaku) user (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1302746/KuroxSaku).

49

[identity profile] sky-dark.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. Wrath was the most lame excuse for a character, then the movie absolutely glorified him to the point I like him now. The movie may have had it's flaws, but it also had it's kick-ass moments. Wrath was one of them.

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
3. Y'know, I'm not saying you were, but when I took my college Shakespeare class, nothing pissed me off more than people who didn't want to be there. Mostly because they put forth no effort, asked truly stupid questions (the kind that had the professor staring at them for a moment while trying to figure out if they actually asked what he thought they asked), and laughed all during Macbeth.

6. Huh. Interesting. Let's chalk up another nice and positive sort of secret then. I like those.

7. MONKEY ISLAND!!! I loved all the voices; I can't imagine playing with it turned off. But man, I loved those fruit-headed cannibals!

13. I'm inclined to agree about how much cooler it would've been if Mello had been a girl

24. I agree. I'll ship Disher/Sharona so hard, but the idea of Monk/Sharona or Monk/Natalie...it just doesn't gel. I hate when the writers actually start hinting at romance between him and, well, anyone.

28. Well, the only one of those I "read" (or even recognized) was Frankenstein, and I was rather underwhelmed. I do like classic literature sometimes, it's just...I think with Frankenstein and Jekyll&Hyde, the hype and fanon has just made the canon...boring in comparison.

30. repeat?

31. Aw. That's really sweet.

32. Oh yes, Ginny the "I'm uber powerful, apparently, but I'll just stay home and do nothing for awhile."
Honestly, I think Rowling is incapable of writing or coming up with a single healthy relationship. At all.

37. Seconded. I really do hope there's not some sort of snark-fest though. At this point, I'm hoping for Rose to be mature and nice to Martha just to spite the haters. (And for Martha not to get too annoyed with Rose.)

39. You won't be. Even the hardcore fans will gather and admit "Yeah, those last two books...they kind of sucked mightily, didn't they?"

40. I wanted to like it. It had cute moments. But it was just...I don't know, it tried too hard to be too many things and failed at all of them.

41. Oh man, Nuriko. That scene choked me up like woah.

44. I didn't know that. Is he like "let's have all CG" or is he just a fan of the genre on its own and not taking over 2D?
That...wow, that really depresses me. He's one of my favorites ever.
I was a little 0.o when I realize his father's responsible for Family Circus.

48. I'm not sure if this is a repeat, or if you just had the same secret as someone else from awhile back, because I remember agreeing about this before. I mean, I have great friends. But sometimes, when I was really down in highschool (especially during the really awful parts involving family bipolar disorder...), I would pretend he was real, because I knew whatever was happening to me, he'd probably give me a big hug, and cry louder, harder, and stupider than I did over how much life was sucking, and then it would just be funny.

52. ROSEANNE SECRET FTW!

OP 40

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
EXACTLY. It's not that I thought the concept of Enchanted was horrible, in fact I think it could have been done really, really well. It's just the execution that failed so badly. They had too many threads of satire going and didn't deliver on any of them, the characterization fell flat at a lot of points, and it stretched credibility without admitting it was stretching credibility. (Plus the animation was truly terribly drawn, but that's a different issue all together.)

17. Nakama ♥

18. We can only hope he won't suck too much as Viral. :/

34. DITTO!!!! :D

39. I liked them up to the third book (which is, ironically, my first and favorite HP book), stopped caring at the 5th book, and didn't read the sixth book to skip to the seventh. :(

40. I thought it was adorable! ♥

55. Holy shit, what show and episode is that.

60. Ogod, my eyes cannot unsee it. *Cries with laughter*

[identity profile] shobogan.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
37. You know? I really hope you're right. I hope Rose won't act like a petty child, that she's a mature woman who's moved on, but...I really can't fault people for thinking she might. She could be self-absorbed, possessive, and blind - the girl's human, she has flaws.

And Martha? As far as I recall, that blonde comment was the ONLY THING she specifically said, and I bloody cheered because the Doctor would -not shut up-. I'd have got fed up to being compared to a glorified absentee, too.

Rose is the one who had to be torn into another universe. Martha is the one who walked away. The last time we saw Rose, she was sobbing on a beach. The last time we saw Martha she was kicking alien arse. Going by that?

Yeah. People might think Rose will be the immature one.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
She could be self-absorbed, possessive, and blind - the girl's human, she has flaws.
I'd say almost as much as Martha was, really. That was my point. Martha isn't better than Rose. That doesn't make her worse. But she's not better. They're both equally good companions.

Martha's blonde comment was the only thing she actually said, but what I meant was, yeah, she has constantly been compared to Rose, so it makes more sense that when the two of them meet, it's Martha, and not Rose, who's going to be cold, and possibly quite snipey with "The Other Woman" because that's all Martha knows her as--the eternal cock-block.

The last time we saw Rose, she was sobbing on a beach. The last time we saw Martha she was kicking alien arse.
And here we come to the single most annoying/disgusting Martha vs. Rose arguement that always seems to crop up when the subject is broached.
The last time we saw Rose, she was saying goodbye forever to a man that she truly, genuinely loved--and not in a purely romantic way--that she would never be able to see again.
The last time we saw Martha, she was on the show where everyone gets to have lots of kinky sex and fight aliens.

And what the heck is this "Rose had to be torn away." How does that make it immature? Jamie had to be "torn away" as did Zoe, and no one ever complains about them or says that it makes them immature or annoying and clingy. Some people are just passangers along for the ride, some people are companions who just want to stay with the Doctor for as long as they can. I don't see how that decision made her immature.

If Rose can be called immature for wanting to stay with the Doctor forever, when they had a mutual and not-awkward affection for each other, then Martha should be called immature for spending a whole year+ visibly pining after a man who was not interested in her--to the point of sending her the very clear "no, not interested in a relationship right now" sign of chattering about his ex whenever she started trying to make a move (subtle as it may've been).

There's this infuriating double-standard when judging the two companions. I don't find Rose any more self-absorbed, whiny, or, good-grief, clingy than Martha.

6) Geez, what's with the "priest = pedo" jokes over someone making a nice secret?

39) I'm probably too much in the "internal consistency and common-sense type world-building" camp to really appreciate the HP series, but I just can't see the potential in it that so many people think went to waste. As for the last books being cliche ridden, I'm surprised that book 4 (the middle book of the series) wasn't a tip off, what with the way that it demonstrated that Voldemort desperately needed to be bludgeoned to death with the Evil Overlord List (http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html).

(Anonymous) 2008-02-23 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
I think the tone was so inconsistent from the start that people could read into the series whatever they wanted. But they were never well written.
