61. Off-topic, but God I'm sick of people whining about how the FF series is "so overrated" and acting like they're so much better than everyone else for thinking that. That sort of elitism really grates on my nerves.

OMG. FUCK. YES. ISAWTC.

I tried doing this too. I tried convincing myself that maybe it was all for the best, that Harry needed Ginny and that it really isn't so bad. BUT I JUST DON'T GET THE APPEAL. I mean, Ron/Hermione was FINE, because you actually saw it coming, with the whole love/hate relationship that was apparent in pretty much ALL the books. BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN, GINNY BECOMES THIS VIXEN THAT HARRY CAN'T TAKE HIS EYES OFF? When he's been keeping his eyes off her for FIVE YEARS?! THAT'S WHAT ANGERS ME MOST, is that she ALL OF A SUDDEN becomes this IMPORTANT CHARACTER that we haven't even SEEN much of in any of the past books.

But, this is a Harry/Ginny rant, not a Ginny rant. SO I WILL SAY THIS. For more than 8 YEARS (counting from the release of Sorcerer's Stone to the release of HBP), I was led to believe that all Harry saw in Ginny was a friend. In fact, his BEST FRIEND'S SISTER. AND SO, IN THE LAST TWO BOOKS OF THE SERIES, YOU EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THAT HARRY SPONTANEOUSLY FINDS GINNY ATTRACTIVE? AND THAT HE'S DESPERATELY IN LOVE WITH HER? Uhh. NO. One word, people: D-E-V-E-L-O-P-M-E-N-T. That is how all *GOOD* relationships start. I'll say it once, I'll say it again: THERE REALLY IS NO APPEAL. ):

Victor being whiny right from the start was annoying, but as soon as the monster started talking and came up with the excuse that he learned to by watching some people for a couple weeks, I lost all interest. A lot of the time, it seems like classics are still read solely because of the impact they first had rather than due to standing the test of time.

18. True story: When I started playing Persona 3 I immediately thought 'boy whoever is doing that voice sucks' when I heard Junpei. I was kinda amused when I later found out it was Vic since that's the first time I've heard a character he's done even though I'm way too familiar with the drama he causes.

24. I've only seen a few episodes of that, but I would hazard a guess that it's because he wouldn't be happy in a relationship. It takes a special kind of person to be able to deal with someone as... unique as Monk. Add that onto the various stresses of even an ordinary romantic relationship and the chances of finding someone he could actually be happy with become infinitesimally small.

That might why the loss of his wife affects him so much, really. Or I could just be rambling. Either way.

56. Meh, to be honest, it took me a long time to sit down and actually watch this show. I actually prefer the way it's gone about telling the story more than what I've read of Dumas'. His writing is way too dry for me to really get into.

It's kind of sad that you didn't watch it all the way through, though. I ended up marathoning something like 16 episodes in a night.

OP here: Hahaha, here's hoping I don't sound like a lame retard.

It's not really an analysis, it's just the sense I got from her. Like, she's dressed in all black, which is to be expected, but the longer they converse, the more her forehead sucks the light out of the room, and she's wailing and shrieking and grabbing at him like some sort of demon at the same time. All that blackness in one room is, in a sense, all of the blackness pouring out of Europe in the Colonial Project, y/n? She is surrounded by icons of white power in the very center of The City. It even sounds a little bit like Kurtz's station when Marlow describes it, so I wouldn't be surprised if she had dead men's bones hidden in there too D:. It's like she's going SWALLOW EVERYTHING WHOLE or something.

And her eyes glitter D:. The only things that really glitter in that book are pretty nasty things. Like the serpentine Congo river (which flowed from the savage place that drove everyone at least a little bit mad), the cannibals' eyes, and the brickmaker's eyes, (paper mache mephistopheles, what).

I mean, I don't think she represents the superficiality of European ideologies at all. All the females are pretty powerful in that novella. Marlow's aunt got him a position on a ship whose previous captain got himself killed over some lady chickens. The rescue mission was impeded by some scary African Witch archetype who was Kurtz's mistress? I think? So, naturally, his Intended has to be pretty damn powerful too. HOORAY for stupid conjecture. I mean, she commanded the entire conversation and even drove Marlow to "lying", even though he spends like, half a page ranting about how much he hates lying.

13. Seriously. I sometimes feel like some sort of genius for not ever thinking Mello was a girl even for a second. Then again, something about him just screams "I AM A SEX GOD" rather than "goddess," so maybe it's just my inner fangirl clawing her way into my brain. But really. There's something about his crazy facial expressions and general body stance that is entirely unfeminine to me, but only in DN canon, because Ohba usually makes women pretty damn womanly and Mello having no chest at all under that tight leather was a dead giveaway. That said, I wholly agree that it would've been awesome to see a badass leather-wearing chick in line for L, but hey, otherwise we wouldn't have Mihael MOTHERFUCKING Keehl, and I think we'd all be worse off.

I didn't like Near at first because he's the only central character who had NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AT ALL and for some reason him staying the exact same from age thirteen to age eighteen (correct ages?) bugged the shit out of me. Seriously, Matsuda changed more than he did. Seeing bitchy 22-year-old Near makes me a happy person, therefore, I like him better. Sure, he got hot, but the personality change is what I enjoyed most.

I don't think Harry deserved to be happy by the end of the series. He gradually became a total asshole, finishing with the 'gallant' torture.
