79. Hey Secret Teller 79! Yeah you! You make me want to stay in this community! The thief and the cobbler was a crazy obscure movie that I was very able to explain to anyone. Every time I tried I forgot how it ended. Now I'm renting this on netflick just for kicks and giggles! I think your amazing secret teller, and you made me happy today!

[identity profile] alpha-orionis-v.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
7. Nothing wrong with an over-rated show every now and then. Hell, I think the Beatles and the Stones are as over-rated as they come, but I still dig the music.
23. Why would anyone do that!?
32. Awh. Not all BNFs are the evil. Least, not the ones I hang round, anyway.
45. Yeah. Most of the time, it's pretty obvious when a writer only knows about male anatomy and physiology because of how their dildos look.
47. I cannot stand Peggy. Something about her just bothers me.

25

25. PUCCA!! She is so adorable! I actually named my last car Pucca. lol

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 07:35 am (UTC)(link)

41. WTF? You are what's wrong with so many fandoms. Sorry.

46. I'm assuming you're a girl. Why would you need to hide your gender? I play video games. I have since I was about four -- I remember playing Duck Hunt at my uncle's and Battle Tanks on my Atari. The guys at EB Games know who I am and while it initially was a thing of, 'Oh, you're a chick who likes video games.' it really isn't any longer. I play FPS, RPGs, strategy games, flight simulators and I've never been labeled as some girl gamer. I dunno where this mentality came from that girls cannot play video games and be respected.

64. So essentially you're saying you're just as bad as the crazy rabid Rose shippers. Don't play the martyr when you're doing the exact thing they are.

65. FFVII is kind of like that. I shipped all around that thing. Sure, I had my OTPs, but that doesn't mean I didn't dabble in a little variety. To me not a single character in that series could be defined as anything other than completely pansexual. That's probably what made it such a fun series while it lasted.

67. Wow, that would be like 2002, 2003 or something? Years ago. I used to have an account back in the day. It's been lying in stasis since about 2005.

70. Funny how that works isn't it? I used to get that all the time years ago. I'd comment on fanart or fanfic and then the person would gush over me commenting and yet never once bothered to leave a single comment on anything I'd do. I didn't bite. I appreciate every comment and review I get and often tried to comment back on all of them. Unfortunately, I feel a little cheap these days because I don't reply to comments on my fanart that much any longer unless someone has a really valid question about it.

[identity profile] weaselistic.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
41. I dunno. Actually, I think what's wrong with many fandoms is that reviewers never tell a ficcer when what s/he's written is utter crap, out-of-character or ignoring basic canon facts.
As long as their favourite character gets to have hot sex, people will be all "Waaaaah, awesome!!!"

[identity profile] optical-nerve.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
2.) I was hoping Gris and Kep could be BFFL. ;n;

[identity profile] interstellar.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
5. Of course it's fact. It's just a happy coincidence that fact and your opinion are completely identical.

11. Haha, I know that feeling. Not with my friends, thankfully (that's pretty insensitive of them!), but I've always been too anxious to cosplay characters I like that I know are widely disliked. D:

22. Yeah, um, same here. Although 4 hasn't been released in my country yet, so I'm trying to hold out judgement until I play it, but... yeah, I find it really sad. :(

25. That fandom looks kind of adorable. I don't get it either - sure, there will be some stupid people, but there's always fun people to hang out with, too.

HOLY SHIT!

No seriously Holy FREAKING shit! *GLOMP* I miss those games like WHOA! (And I think I scared my cat with my squeal.... *coughs*)

Friends? :D I want to talk to someone who remembers those games too. And the website! O.o The website was SO COOL

(God I feel old now XD No one else on my f-list knows what Purple Moon IS!)

I feel the same T_T Purple Moooon. I had this group of friends on there and everything and we all had cheesy n00bish screennames. I also found a glitch in the website that let you duplicate treasures ^^; It was fun.

68. don't worry, you're pretty normal when it comes to fandom. i think it's the weird dynamics that people like when they read incest rather than the incest itself (though of course there are exceptions). just like most of the people who like to read non-con fics (hopefully) agree that rape is abhorrent in real life.

i don't think you should be too hard on yourself, because lots of people have a certain hobby/interest/kink that they would only ever reveal to their very closest friend/partner, if at all.

Unless this links to deeper, darker issues... then i just hope you resolvs your feelings about this...

[identity profile] fantasyprone.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
not!secret 2: ...I was sure for a moment that I knew who you were. Then I remembered how blunt the person I was thinking of was. That person wouldn't have left it to fandomsecrets.

[identity profile] redeternity90.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, your opinion is so BLATANTLY fact because you're just such a speshul little snowflake.

44

[identity profile] truekamui.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
In the boat with you! Seriously, he just became SOOOOOOOOOO HOTT when I found that out.

[identity profile] weaselistic.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Your failing was that you chose, amongst others, a picture of Dragonball to represent the Golden Age of Jump. It doesn't matter that the series really was an important part of that era; people here are going to bash you for implying you like Dragonball, because liking DB just isn't cool anymore. It's the quickest way they can dismiss your opinion.

Personally, I can neither agree nor disagree, because I am much more exposed to Jump manga now than I was then.

RE: 5

(Anonymous) 2008-03-13 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the reactions this secret has been getting has a lot more to do with the OPs assertion that his/her opinion is a fact. I'm not denying that Dragonball and YYH (two manga that I personally enjoyed) are 'worthy' of being preferred over JUMP's later fare. Rather, it's the assertion that these titles are objectively superior to, say, Death Note (an assertion that most professional critics would invert, to say the least). Not that they necessarily aren't (I certainly enjoyed them more than I enjoyed Death Note), but one actually has to, I dunno, provide at least some evidence to back up one's claim of objective superiority. I know that this is fandom!secrets, and not fandom!essays, but the OP didn't even attempt to substantiate his/her position.

10: Seriously.

41: And see, people like you are why 95% of Torchwood fic SUCKS ASS.

57: Can I perhaps have an internet baby of yours?

[identity profile] spiletta42.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
95% of all fic sucks ass. It's a sad fact of life. As much as I wish everyone would take their writing seriously, accepting that they won't is far less frustrating.

45

[identity profile] theo-harrison.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, go you with the sweeping generalization. Do you know how much actual published Gay Erotica is written by women?

Here's a clue, lots. Gets collected into 'Best of' books too.

Do not confuse gender with writing ability and characterisation skills fucktard, it has nothing to do with it....

4 -- It's never too late and you're never too old. I read them as an adult too, and so did several of my friends.

23 -- That is the best thing I've seen all day.

36 -- *hugs* I've felt like that before, and it sucks. It will get better.

41 -- ROFL. Also, I see how that works. Ianto didn't actually get a personality until season 2 anyway.

4. HAHAH! No, it's funny cus I just started reading them too! (well, Re-reading. Kind of. I was there 12 years ago but I only got about 17 books in.) I've been reading like 4 books a day. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE.

Oddly enough, I STOPPED reading when the show started. I only saw two episodes and hated it. :/

39. GUNNERKRIGG YES. I need a Gamma, too. D:

16. HAHA, one more victim of the Crisis Core ending video! \o :D
74. I tried watching Jericho. But after a few episodes.. I grew bored. D:

God dammit. F!S sent me to find the fucking thing thanks to all the 'this killed me' secrets a while back, and I cried for like a half-hour (yeah, yeah, loser, I know). And now you've just gone and reminded me again.

I still want the game, even if it is crack on a stick. FF7 was the first game I ever bought myself, and if the second disc didn't decide to be a bitch (and if I could actually find another copy under $70), I'd still be playing it.

[identity profile] elwing-alcyone.livejournal.com 2008-03-13 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
76. Sir David Attenborough! I think a group of us should get together and make a deal with the universe, because some people are just so amazing they deserve to live forever. His documentaries are just as fascinating and enthralling to me now as they were when I was six. His energy and passion are an inspiration.

In short: I'm crying with you. :(

Um...I play the game, and I'm not taking the plot very seriously. I love MGS, but a lot of stories fall to the 'too dull' or 'so ridiculous' wayside. Who cares? I have fun playing it.
