Not!Secret 1: ♥ Y: The Last Man ♥

It occurred to me at issue #59 that since Hero wasn't dead -- I always felt so sure she would be by the end -- she might end up with one of the other women after all.

I just figured that if things did go that way it'd be Beth II who ended up with her. I don't know. I was perfectly okay with them not being romantic, but I so loved their friendship as it was set up that I felt a little disappointed by the idea of them being on completely different continents about six years or so later and the fact that Hero was calling her "Other Beth," which just seemed so... detached. I know time tends to do that kind of thing to relationships sometimes, but I wouldn't have minded just a little more insight into how Beth II and Yorick wound up deciding to marry and Hero and Beth Deville hooked up.

I thought the last issue was a remarkably fitting ending to a great run, but it sure was bittersweet.

OH GOD WE'RE NOT!

Seriously, the average Rose fan that I know, even the ones, like me, who really really liked their relationship, is not particularly stoked about it. More wary than anything, and for the optimistic, tentatively hopeful. Me, I'm feeling a sense of anticipoinment, as my friend would say.
For one thing, we get oodles of flak, and when Rose comes back, that's just gonna increase. For another, they ended on a pretty heavy note, and frick, if they interact, there is no way they can interact the way they used to, and it's just gonna be ackward and weird and heavy, and they'll probably have to deal with the whole "I love you" thing, which, really... ugh, it's just gonna... there's a lot of dread there, really.

Where is all this mythical Martha-bashing occuring? I mean, I don't really like Martha that much, but I still acknowledge that she was one cool companion who put up with a lot of crap and freaking walked across the world. D'you mean bashing as in saying what you don't like, or bashing like talking about what a stoopid h0r a character is when they're not?

46. Uh...what? I have a hard time believing that. I've been a gamer since I could hold a controller and have never felt ashamed or upset at the fact that I'm a girl. Three of my jobs have had to do with video games, too, and I've never had the "omg ur a girl u suck" talk from anyone. If anything, I'd say that 70% of guys I meet are impressed that I play games as much as they do, moreso when I tell them I've played games other than RPGs and DDR, both of which will probably net a "of course you do, you're a girl" reaction.

Not meaning to offend or anything, but guys will only treat you like that as long as you let them. If you stand up for yourself and I guess "prove" that you can play just as well as they can, they'll respect you as a gamer instead of a girl who plays games. No one's helping prove that we're just as good as guys when they run away crying that the boys were too mean to them.
