Japanese have a lot of stuff with absentee fathers. Has to do with the way the workforce is structured, which demands men work crazy hours and not be at home with their family. So you need to reassure the kids that their absent father loves them (as expressed by the bank account), and the fathers that they are important to their family and their work is indispensable (via said bank account), and then when they retire everybody finds out that it was sort of a lie, because the family doesn't know what to do with this sudden guy around the house, and he doesn't know what to do with himself.

I think I probably spend a little too much time wondering if the cast of the prequels ever feels resentful about how popular the new film and cast are. The Force Awakens gets so much - and it deserves it! But even so, that's got to sting, right?

Especially when you think about how much fandom hated Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker and how much fandom loves Adam Driver as Kylo Ren.

I really disliked this aspect of Strange Journey, too. Back in the classic SNES days you only got your three options: Law, Chaos, an Neutral, but they were getting pretty ho-hum decades ago. So Nocturne gave you a whole platter of choices instead.

I honestly have no idea why they went back to the boring triad of options in SJ (and to a lesser extent even DSRK:KA). Especially since these always do boil down to, as you say, two dickhole options and one obviously correct good option. There are no shades of gray. It's YEAH DEMONS or YEAH GOD or YEAH HUMANS. And not even morally ambiguous humans, just yaaay this one's the nice choice to save evwyone humans.

Nocturne was my first SMT game, and while I could forgive the retro classics their triad seeing it crop up over and over again is extremely disappointing in newer games after Nocturne did it so fucking well. (Although it was kinda interesting in Catherine, admittedly.)

Some of Doyle's work wasn't that good TBH (even he apparently didn't feel it was up to his usual standard). But even given that, by the standards of his time he wrote a pretty creepy story. I mean, someone who manages to abduct a woman and takes advantage of the laws of the land to try and force a marriage to her? Yeah, creeptastic.
