People still really like the original series though, unironically. I see it praised all the time. The only things I see get flack are the epilogue and the expanded universe.

I've ended up in custody of my younger siblings. I never planned on having children, but sadly I'm the best option. That said, I know that I'm so far from being perfect and I'm so worried I'll fuck it up like our parents.

Stan Pines from Gravity Falls gives me hope, since he's an incredibly flawed human being but somehow manages to do okay. I'll never be a Mr. Rogers, but maybe at least I can manage a Stan Pines.

Aubrey Plaza

I adored Aubrey Plaza in Safety Not Guaranteed. It was the first thing I saw her in, and I loved her character. But I suspect she's not that great an actress, and I'm afraid if I watch Parks and Rec, I'm going to see the exact same performance from her, and it will make Safety Not Guaranteed less special somehow.

Vocaloids do a better job pretending to be human than whoever is creating One Direction tracks.

I didn't want to say this in either of the threads celebrating villains, because no need to harsh the squee, but:

I really, really don't understand why people like villainous characters.

Appreciate as characters, sure, yes. Many villains are great, fascinating characters. But almost none of them are characters that I want to spend time with, or think about at great length, or read fanfiction about, or whatever. They're just almost never the thing that interests me most about a work of fiction. The few exceptions that I really like tend to be the ones who are most ambiguous or morally grey or not straightforwardly villainous. Just don't get it.

I just... don't get what's fascinating about them or want to know more. I want to know more about the good characters, because they're good, and that's interesting, and I like them on a personal level. I generally find people who are trying to be good just fundamentally more interesting than characters who are bad.

(of course not every character is a villain or a hero, not all media works in relatively bright tones like that, but i'm mostly just talking about the things that i like that are more black-and-white and less gray)

I finally learned how to spell Rattata when it occurred to me that it's "Rat tata" when you separate it. So now I just remember "rat boobs" and it's easy.

Not really fandom per se, but although maybe this is irrational, it bugs me that people say John Hinckley shot President Reagan to "impress" Jodie Foster. Yes, that's what it was in his sick mind, but the way they put it makes it sound like Jodie dared him to or something. He was a stalker, she was a victim, and has said how sick the original ordeal made her. So Ireally hate that wording.

Again, maybe it's irrational?

Supernatural

Supernatural is still one of my favorite shows, even though I fully admit that it can be pretty bad at times. I enjoy it even more now that I am no longer involved in the fandom. Fandom actually made me kind of hate the show for a while.

I was seriously afraid "Monster Reunion" was going to fuck up and be offensive in how it depicted mental illness. In retrospect, I guessed wrong on the metaphor--I thought gem corruption was a metaphor for dementia, but it turned out to be a metaphor for PTSD.

Kristen Stewart's face has always looked so incredibly unalive to me, no matter what media I saw her in. I know abput resting bitch face syndrome, but her face just weird me out. Like even when KS smile, her eyes still look dead.

This is kind of mean, I felt mean justing typing it out.
