The last several days have been a complete airstrike over Shitfuckistan. I'm currently too depressed to even eat. And I'm avoiding eating anyway because I'll just get diarrhea again which is SUPER fun when you're crippled let me tell you.

My AC hasn't been working since last Wednesday and they think they might be able to replace it Thursday with bonus new furnace because its 1982 ass is on the way out too.

We've had people fixing our roof for the last two days and I'm sick of the noise. And for most of today there was a ladder placed right outside my bedroom window that they were going up and down all the time and it was making my paranoia act up. The ladder is gone but the noise is still going and I'm so tense.

You ever have a slightly guilty moment of petty pleasure when a story you don't like doesn't do so well?

Particularly petty, in this instance, because my not liking it probably to a large extent comes down to YKINMK, though I do think it's fairly OOC and a bit preachy as well. But. Mostly YKINMK. Still can't help the little twinge of satisfaction that at 30k in, it's about breaking even with what some 2k oneshots get in this fandom.

I don't normally watch the stats of fics I don't like after I've backed out of them. I'm not sure why I'm so compelled with this one.

I've lived in my current apartment for years, but it's only my second apartment ever. My impression has always been that if it's a cosmetic issue, like wanting a different color paint on your wall, or even patching over minor cracks and old nail holes, you aren't likely to get it done for you for free by asking your landlord. I know lots of people who have repainted rental apartments themselves and I read a lot of Apartment Therapy where repainting by renters abounds. I used to have a friend who once told me that her neighbor in her same building got her apartment repainted in the colors of her choice by the building owner and my friend was really surprised by this and figured the neighbor must be friends with the owner because my friend couldn't imagine getting that done for free.

When I did some painting years ago, I asked my landlord if I could paint and was told yes, but no offer of paying for the paint or taking care of the labor. Recently, I did some more painting and yesterday I mentioned this to some friends at work. They reacted with great surprise that I had to paint myself and had to pay for the paint. All of the evidence I have indicates just doing it yourself (with permission) is the way it was done. These friends own their own homes and maybe look back on renting with the rose-colored glasses of not being responsible for things, but their reaction made me feel like maybe I'd missed a memo somewhere, like paying rent means I should be getting everything done for me.
