Back in college a friend implied that this was not Ricardo Montalbán's actual chest and the makeup department put a prosthetic chest on him instead. I thought, "Oh, right, that's why there's a necklace there, to hide the edge."

Secretly, I was crushed.

Then the other day I was watching some Star Trek 50th anniversary thing on the History Channel and Leonard Nimoy (interviewed before he died, obvs) said that was Montalbán's real, actual chest.

I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THIS!!

I've never even been into the guy (plus he was born the same year as 75% of my grandparents) so I have no idea why I care so much. I guess I'm just happy a 60-something dude could have nice pecs.

"Nobody in the fandom likes his books. I don't like his books. They're poorly-written and full of Mary-Sues and plot holes. But there are just enough seeds of an interesting story (buried in the junk) that I wish they had been written by a more competent author.

I wish someone would re-write the books as "fix it" fic like people did with Twilight and Harry Potter.

Oh, I hated that they killed Branch. (And that A&E cancelled the show before the cliffhanger was resolved; thank you netflix gods). I didn't always care for him but after all the shit he went through...I found him more human and sympathetic; I do miss him. I also didn't find his exit poorly written. *shrug*
